Superior Dog Park

This place was great with a few minor issues, but it would not deter us from coming back! The detail in the design and amenities is amazing, I have severe food allergies so I cook all my meals, I had most of what I needed to cook our whole trip. The room was really nice and had so much storage. Only issue in room was noise, at times it sounded like construction almost, not sure what it was but it was only for a few hours the first day. Second issue was we went to order food at front desk, then saw a female employee use her bare hands to scrape someone else’s fries onto their plate and eat a few fries off of it as well before it went to the person. Anyways overall great experience with a few minor issues, will definitely come back!

The lobby, bar, sitting areas, and restaurant are charming and quaint, with a wonderful feel of a bygone era. We were greeted with a glass of champagne at check-in, which was a lovely touch. Unfortunately, the room did not reflect the same charm. The first thing we noticed was a strong mildew smell. We contacted the front desk and were offered a fan or a room where the AC wasn't working properly. We chose the fan, but it unfortunately just circulated the smell around the room. Several details also felt out of place for a boutique hotel. The 24" TV was quite small by today’s standards and positioned where it was difficult to watch from the bed, so having no TV would have had essentially the same result. The commercial-style toilet with a metal foot flush didn't fit the character of the hotel, and the oddly shaped L-configured shower was difficult to use. The bathroom lighting was so dim that I had to use a hand mirror by the bedroom window to apply makeup. There was no ice bucket, although the staff was happy to bring one. Parking at $67/night was also disappointing after paying a good rate for our stay. The staff, however, was amazing. Everyone we encountered was pleasant, friendly, and helpful. Overall, the hotel has so much potential. The common areas have wonderful character, and the staff adds to the experience. Unfortunately, the room fell short. A few thoughtful updates & improvements would go a long way toward making the rooms match the charm of the rest of the hotel.

This is a nice hotel in a convenient location downtown. The rooms (we had multiple) were nice enough. There were a couple of shortcomings: 1. Nothing in the room or on the paperwork we got at check in told us where to get ice. Multiple calls to the front desk from our room went to voicemail. Calls from the house phone near the elevators went to voicemail. We had to go to the front desk in person to ask, and that was with three or four people in line in front of us and only one clerk there. It shouldn’t take 30 minutes to find out where the ice is. 2. Shower was really pedestrian. 3. They offer all sorts of “amenities“ at check-in, then charge an amenity fee, which is really just a way of raising your rates, because none of the amenities were really anything useful to anyone in our large party. I think it’s much more honest to just tell us what your real rate is and stop trying to Nick and dime people with sneaky fees.
