The best area to stay in Sukuta Mugie is within one of the conservancies for an authentic safari experience.Families and couples seeking an exclusive and high-quality safari will find the private conservancies to be the best option. These conservancies, such as the Mugie Conservancy itself, offer a more private wildlife viewing experience compared to national parks. They often feature luxury lodges and tented camps that provide personalised service, expert guides, and a range of activities beyond traditional game drives, such as bush walks, horse riding, and cultural visits. The focus is on conservation and providing an intimate connection with nature. For those interested in a slightly more accessible but still excellent safari experience, areas bordering the conservancies, or those with direct access points, are also a good choice. These locations can offer a blend of luxury and convenience, often with stunning views of the Laikipia plains and Mount Kenya.

The best time to go to Sukuta Mugie is during the dry seasons, which run from January to March and again from June to October. These periods offer the most pleasant weather conditions for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities. The dry landscape means that animals tend to gather around fewer water sources, making them easier to spot. The roads are also in better condition, ensuring smoother transfers and game drives. For travellers keen on seeing a wide variety of wildlife, visiting between June and October is particularly rewarding. This coincides with the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara, and while Sukuta Mugie is a different ecosystem, the general dry conditions across the region mean animals are on the move and more observable. The temperatures are generally warm but not excessively hot, with clear skies superb for photography. If you prefer a slightly quieter experience with fewer visitors, the January to March dry season is an excellent choice. Wildlife is still abundant, and the weather is consistently sunny and dry.
