Pocket Guide: Green / Sustainable Hotels in Stuttgart

Eco and Sustainable Hotels in Stuttgart

Stuttgart has a good selection of eco-friendly, environmentally responsible hotels, just as many other cities in Germany has. Let Expedia help you find a green sustainable hotel and holiday in Stuttgart with the blend of forward-thinking sustainability, fun wild spaces and fabulously healthy eating that’s perfect for you.

Green Stuttgart

The Arkadien Winnenden is a former factory site that has been transformed into an eco-friendly family village in Winnenden, to Stuttgart’s northeast. The project was completed in 2012 and now provides affordable housing in a sustainable environment, with gardens and water features fed by rainwater. The Stuttgart University of Applied Sciences has created the home+ project close to its campus – home+ is a think-tank for future living, using a photovoltaic-covered exterior and phase-changing technologies to provide highly efficient heating and cooling for the homes of tomorrow.

Woods, Water and Wonderful Walking

Stuttgart is blessed with abundant green spaces, centred on the Green U of parks in the city centre. The Schlossgarten is a corridor of calm, incorporating restful water features and convenient park cafes, and linking to Rosenstein Park, famous for the Wilhelma Botanical Gardens and Zoo and the Rosenstein Castle Natural History Museum. Stroll to Killesberg Park to find more attractive woods, water and garden features connected by a miniature railway and crowned by an observation tower with splendid city views. And if you can, make time for the Black Forest in the Swabian southwest, a Brothers Grimm vast fairytale area criss-crossed by superb walking routes and featuring the source of the River Danube.

Healthy Eating Options in Stuttgart

Stuttgart’s eateries cater to every taste, and has a good selection of healthy options. Whether you are dining in your hotel’s on-site restaurant or stopping in at a café or restaurant in the city centre or surrounding neighbourhoods, you will find that vegetarian, vegan, organic and fair-trade options are becoming ever-more widespread and ever-more clearly signposted. And in Stuttgart, you’re never too far from a natural food and health store, conveniently bringing worry-free ingredients from the world to your basket.
