Group trip
House is great for a group trip! Had a girls weekend here, enough rooms and beds for everyone (12) and close to all cute Berkshires towns. Place is huge and gorgeous. Plenty of space and gorgeous patio and fire pit.

Wonderful Family Holiday Vacation Spot
Three generations stayed for 4 days over Christmas and this was a perfect house for relaxing, cooking, and catching up. Pros: The kitchen has any utensil you might need to cook, and every bedroom has an adjoining bathroom. The home is large enough for everyone to find some privacy, and the great room and dining room are large enough to easily accommodate all 15 of us. The heat was perfect. It was wonderful having 2 gas and 1 wood fireplace. The home is well-cared for and comfortable. Things to keep in mind (not cons, just helpful hints): We have a 90-year-old father and this is an old home, so he needed to be aware of thresholds, tub/showers etc. It all worked out great, just fyi. 2) bring soap/bathroom amenities (not a surprise, just a reminder). Highly recommend as a very special place to stay and enjoy family/friends time together.

Beautiful property
We all enjoyed our stay and our favorite room was the sun porch! George was extremely cordial and helpful. Caitlin was busy with her children so we did not get to meet her but she was very responsive answering our questions before our stay. Nice experience all around.

Taggart house was my family’s home
My family had a reunion of sorts at the Taggart house and our stay and the accommodations at the Taggart house were just wonderful. We congregated in the kitchen to make meals, we had dinner in the dining room, we worked on a puzzle by one of the fireplaces, and we watched family slides on the big TV in the family room. We had a very short walk to the Red Lion Inn/downtown and we had a 10 minute drive to Tanglewood. We highly recommend Taggart house to anyone looking to feel at home with their family & friends in the Berkshires, and we hope to stay here again in the future.

Beautiful Home in Perfect Location
I stayed with my entire extended family (12 guests) in July 2023. The house is spacious, cozy, and beautiful. The hosts were quick to respond, accommodating, and incredibly kind before and during our stay. Our time at the Berkshires was made possible by this home. Each room was luxurious and comfortable. Could not recommend more!

Amazing house for a girl's getaway

Girl's weekend in November
Ten of us, (some have been friends since kindergarten!), wanted to get together to celebrate a milestone birthday and found the perfect spot to do so at the Taggart House. Large enough to accommodate us all with plenty of space to spread out. Added bonus that we were within walking distance to town (think restaurants and shops) and a couple hiking trails. Our hosts were friendly and easy to work with while planning our trip and also while we were on site. Would definitely recommend Taggart House if you have a large crowd. Having a variety of bedrooms, each with their own bathroom, was a plus as was the many rooms where we could gather. Really enjoyed the sunroom area as we were lucky to have unusually warm November weather and the pool table got some use too! Enjoy your stay at Taggart House, we certainly did!

New England home. Great location.
Loved the location. Loved having a bathroom in every room. The kids room with the double beds needs a chair and the bathroom is really for a child. Think it would be a good idea to have more paper products and trash bags and hand soap on hand. There were lots of common spaces and a pretty back porch to enjoy. Some of the bedrooms could use a lamp on the table by the beds to read by. Beds were comfortable. Had a very enjoyable time there.

Really Special Stay

Fun in the Berkshires.
Property and owners/managers were all great. Also the air conditioning was excellent throughout the house on a very hot weekend. The house was beautiful and historically impressive. It lived up in every way to its description. The neighborhood was very also impressive and we were easy walking distance to the charming downtown Stockbridge. The owners, George and Caitlin, were very friendly and always available to the extent we needed any guidance or assistance. Very glad we stayed here and would certainly do so again.

Excellent rental for a wedding weekend!
We rented this house as a place to stay for our daughter’s wedding nearby. It was a wonderful place to host many family members and all be together. The house is absolutely amazing as well as the grounds. The hosts were also friendly and helpful. I would give this six stars if possible!

Great location, lots of hang out space and charm, pretty yard. One en suite bathroom had no shower. House came with sheets and towels, but you must bring your own soap and shampoo. The two first floor bathrooms had no toilet paper at all, and the rest had just one roll. Come prepared with these basic supplies!

Cozy Thanksgiving Getaway
The property was so beautiful and owner was pleasant and easy to book with. We were surprised with a dusting of snow on Friday after Thanksgiving and it was so festive and gorgeous. Bedrooms were all nice with their own bathrooms which is always a plus. Other reviews were right about dim lighting but we happen to like that it made it nice and cozy for watching Christmas movies with the family. The whole family enjoyed ourselves here, we ate at our normal places and it was just as amazing as last year. Thanksgiving dinner at the Red Lion Inn was phenomenal ! And it was a quick walk down the block with a side walk! Friday after Thanksgiving we ate at Old Inn on the Green - another fabulous place with amazing food!! Definitely book this home it is perfect for a cozy, fun holiday getaway.

Wonderful stay in Stockbridge
Fabulous house that is everything you see in the photos... and more. Accommodated all of us with ease - so many spaces for spreading out (and feeling Covid-safe). **The conservatory photo looks beautiful - in reality it's even more! Spacious, with comfortable furniture and a glorious view across the expansive back yard to the river. The hosts couldn't have been more responsive. Would return in a heartbeat.

A beautiful and large historic home , this property served our group of ten very well. Except for a water leak of which the landlord was familiar and some dim lighting in a couple of the rooms, a privileged stay. Bring along some fancy clothes and enjoy the ambience

A special treat!
So much fun to stay in an 1850's mansion in the picturesque town of Stockbridge! We stayed here last summer and had to come back with a different small group of friends. The home is elegant yet comfortable -- and immaculate. Highly recommend!

Fabulous Family Gathering
It's safe to say we would all love to stay here again. George was very helpful and attentive. The whole weekend was wonderful. The house and rooms we quite spacious and very comfortable. We had plenty of room to spread out, but always seemed to end up in the same space together. Pictures do not do it justice. We enjoyed the fireplaces and pool table. It is a very short walk into town and we also enjoyed the Norman Rockwell museum.

Gorgeous accommodations for a destination wedding
Well before COVID entered the picture, we were planning our destination wedding in the Berkshires. We wanted all of the family to stay together, and this property was perfect for that! Lots of private baths, plenty of gathering space, a gorgeous porch that opens up to the spacious back yard with barn doors, and a roaring fireplace in the main gathering space. We had our rehearsal dinner here and all of our family and friends loved the property. We would absolutely return, especially since the hosts were so friendly and responsive.

This home is a delight! It looks even better in person. We fit our group of 9 very comfortably. Each spacious bedroom had its own en suite bathroom, making it perfect for friends, couples, family, or even an intimate work retreat. We split our time between hanging at the house and the local attractions, all of which were walking distance or within a 15 minute drive of the property. This property is a safe walk into adorable Stockbridge (via sidewalk) and a short drive to bustling Great Barrington and several other local towns. We were able to hike, dine at amazing restaurants, go to the farmer’s market, and enjoy nearby shops. There were also breweries and wineries, apple orchards, and an adventure center for zip lining within a short drive that we will have to go to during our next stay. Okay, back to the house. The den is the perfect place to listen to music and build a fire. It’s ideal for cozy fall or winter nights. The owners have a supply of firewood on property, so just ask! The billiards room was frequented nightly and provided a perfect group activity. The dining room was the ideal space to have a dinner party. It’s elegant and grand, but still welcoming. The kitchen was very well-equipped for cooking! The group’s favorite room was probably the conservatory, made complete by sliding doors to the yard, where we played croquet and other lawn games with our group. The property sits adjacent to a river, which would be perfect for kayaking and there are also hiking trails that begin right from the backyard. We all worked comfortably from the house for a few days, with strong access to WiFi and enough space to take private calls. Lastly, our hosts were warm, gracious, and very responsive to all of our inquiries ahead of and during our stay. Thank you for sharing this special place with us! All in all, we hope to make this an annual trip. It was truly perfect.

Lovely long weekend
For my wedding weekend my father, maid of honor, two bridesmaids, and I decided to rent out the Taggart House for a "base camp" in town. It was absolutely perfect. We had a lovely family dinner the first night, had plenty of space on Saturday to get ready, and we hosted a small brunch Sunday. The lawn is gorgeous and perfect for young children. It was super helpful for each of the rooms to have their own bathrooms. Everything was very clean and organized. I also cannot speak enogh about Stockbridge. My family is originally from the town and it's a perfect getaway for a long weekend.

A palatial home: elegant, comfortable, immaculately clean and very well-maintained. Many beautiful spaces to hang out in the house -- we particularly enjoyed the conservatory. Lovely yard -- perfect for croquet or having drinks with friends. Short walk to the center of town. Hope to return soon.

Getaway in the Berkshires
Overall, recommend a visit to this unique, historic home! Our family was looking for a place to bring our spouses and children for a week during the pandemic. We had 8 adults and 3 kids ranging from 2 to 7 years old. The house was very comfortable and had enough space for the kids to have their own play areas and for adults to spread out. The sun porch was a great place to hang out, and in the evenings we enjoyed the living room with a fire in the fireplace. Given the pandemic, we ate almost all of our meals in the house, and the kitchen was very well stocked for a bunch of avid home chefs. The conservatory was a great place to hang out and let the kids run around in the lawn, and we had some great adventures down to the river. It was amazing to be able to walk from the center of town down to a secluded riverfront area in only a couple of minutes. George and Caitlin were great hosts and very responsive when we had any questions. They know the area well and were very helpful when we wanted advice on places to go. Enjoy your stay!

Fairytale home
We absolutely loved this home! Although more of a lovely elegant mansion, it is comfortable and welcoming. Old world style with every modern convenience. The grounds of the estate are beautiful and every window opens onto a perfect vista. We walked most places (which is saying a lot since I was on crutches!) I grew up in Stockbridge but hadn’t been back in years so it was fun to be right in the middle of town. We really can’t wait to be back!

Magnificent Place for a Pandemic Family Weekend Getaway
Not expecting a pandemic, I reserved The Taggart House to meet my mom and 4 adult kids (plus one significant other) for some family bonding in April. The owners graciously allowed us to reschedule for June, so we stayed this past Friday through Monday. The owner Caitlin welcomed us on our arrival. Her husband George was immediately available to resolve the few minor issues we had. The house was immaculately clean, which is especially reassuring with the risk of coronavirus exposure, but it went far beyond sanitation – in this tremendous house filled with antiques and fireplaces and books, there was incredibly not even a speck of dust. The abundance of bedrooms and bathrooms and sitting areas meant everyone had space to share as well as to be alone. The weather was spectacular, and we spent quite a lot of time in the sunroom. Since restaurants weren’t open, we planned and cooked elaborate gourmet meals together, and the kitchen was appointed with all the appliances, tableware, serving dishes and utensils, pots and pans, and gadgets that we needed to do so. There was plenty of room for our group to dine in either the breakfast room or the formal dining room. We took short walks to the lovely cemetery and public gardens, and to the small but well-stocked liquor store in town, where we found more friendly smiles along with great wines, cheeses, and antipasto. We had a wonderful time and look forward to visiting again someday when the Stockbridge shops, restaurants, and museum reopen.

Perfect for 80th Birthday Celebration / Re-union
The property was grand and comfortably slept 12 with lots of room for additional visitors to pop over from the red lion inn. Everyone enjoyed the ambiance of the house with lots of room for large and small conversations. All enjoyed the Norman Rockwell museum too!

Wonderful gracious home with responsive hosts.
Our group of eight friends rented this house for a fail getaway in the Berkshires. Taggert House Family Reunion Weekend
We had a wonderful stay at Taggert House with all the amenities we needed. The home provided many enjoyable spaces where our group of about a dozen people could gather together as a whole and many private spaces too. The owners were helpful and welcoming and available for communication. We encountered a problem with a newly installed electronic product and the owner was grateful for that information so they could get right on calling the installing company to look into it. We enjoyed the local area and the recommendations for entertainment and recreation.

Long weekend for family.
What an amazing spacious place! We had a really great time - huge bedrooms, plenty of comfortable space to relax in, excellent fitted kitchen Lovely grounds down to the river and a Pool room. Who could ask for more? George was a fantastic host and gave us a great welcome, despite just having just got back from hospital with their first child. We would recommend this to any large party wanting some peace in the countryside.

Spacious and comfortable
This house is perfect for a large group. There is so much room to spread out, yet there are great gathering locations with plenty of room for everyone. Our favorite was the sun room where one entire wall has doors that open to the outside overlooking the well-manicured yard. If you are looking for total privacy, you should know the yard is next to the house where the owners live and they are frequently outside maintaining it. They are a friendly, helpful, wonderful couple. The kitchen is well equipped, with everything we needed for when we cooked. The bedrooms, which vary significantly in size, each have their own bathroom which was a huge plus. We really enjoyed our stay, the help of the owners and the location. Perfect family get together!
