Modern Lake House w/ Hot Tub, Game Room & Relaxing Views
Chill at McDill ~
Did you ever think you could have an island getaway with the convenience of in-town amenities? You can, at this hidden treasure on Riverwoods Island! This home will not disappoint! If you’re a water-lover, golfer, biker, hiker, or just a ‘get-me-out-of-towner’ this is a place you will come to over and over again!
Located in the heart of Stevens Point, this house has the uptown luxuries of bars, restaurants, and entertainment, but the tranquility of the northwoods in a private and serene setting.
This hidden treasure is connected by land bridge going across a small channel that's been around for decades. The island has a 1 mile loop of road system, great for taking morning walks or an afternoon bike ride. This area has many nearby grocery stores, bars, and restaurants, along with delivery services, should you never want to leave the house. McDill Pond is a lake that is approximately 261 acres in size. This is the home to some great fishing, kayaking, tubing, and other water sports. With many channels and sloughs, there is always something new to explore.
Here are a few of the many amenities our town has to offer, as well as personal reccommendations of activities to do for the whole family.
Groceries: Save-a- lot foods is the closest grocery store and has all the basics, but the Metro Market has a bigger selection of fruits, veggies, bakery items, and meats, so it depends on what you have a taste for. But when it comes to fresh fish, seafood, and meat, Ski's Meat Market is highly recommended. They have the best selection and quality in town in my eyes. We also have a gas grill on site, with an extra tank in the garage, should you run out of gas midway through cooking.
We do have a guide in the welcome tool kit at the house, but here are different restaurant options depending on what you're in the mood for.
Breakfast/Brunch: On the top of my list is Rock and Roll Cafe. They have excellent food and a broad menu that usually has something for everyone
Steak and Seafood: Wissota Chophouse. This is one of the pricier options in Point, but we have yet to be disappointed. Whether it's a dry aged ribeye or lobster and crab legs, this place is excellent. Their carrot cake is also second to none. Sometimes my wife and I go there just for that!
Sushi: Matsuya
Hibachi: Tokyo Steakhouse
Mexican: El Molcajete Mexican Grill Tulum and El Mezcal are also local favorites, and have outdoor seating
Coffee/ bakery: Mission Coffeehouse, Zest, Ruby coffee, and Emy J's. You can't go wrong with any one of them!
If you're into micro brews, we have O'sos, District 1, and Central Waters. Central Waters has won countless awards for their different recipes, and they have an awesome facility. Point brewery is one of the larger breweries in the area, and gives great tours full of history and fun facts.
Kayak and bike rentals: Northward Peddle and Paddle. Should you need more Kayaks to get everyone out on the water, or explore the 27 mile hiking and biking trail called the Green Circle Trail that loops around town, this would be the rental place I would recommend.
Single Track Mountain Biking: Standing Rocks County Park
If you are looking to rent a pontoon boat for a day, Waupaca is about 25 minutes east of Stevens Point, and has a few different rental options on the chain of lakes. If you make it out there, be sure to grab lunch at the Clearwater harbor bar and grill.
If you have kids, KASH park is a really nice park in Stevens Point, and Pacawa Park in plover is awesome and just underwent a huge remodel and added a splash pad as well. We also have the Central Wisconsin Children's Museum downtown, which has both educational as well as entertaining activities for the kiddos.
The Putt-N-Play is a great option for a rainy day. It is an indoor mini golf course on the north side of town. It's reasonable, and good entertainment for both kids and adults.
Winter Fun: Down hill skiing and snowboarding: Granite Peak Carve your path on the best hill in Wisconsin. Find your legendary adventure at Wisconsin’s #1 ski area, Granite Peak. Explore over 200 acres of terrain spread out across 60 trails serviced by the Midwest’s fastest lift system, including the only 6-pack in Wisconsin! Cruise down a groomer, explore our expansive woods, or take a ride through the air on one of four progressive terrain parks. When you need a break, relive your turns over a hot chocolate or cold beer next to one of the fire pits on the newly transformed Historic Chalet Deck.
Snowshoe and skiing rentals and trails: Standing Rocks County Park
Standing Rocks is a gorgeous piece of property just outside of town (approximately 15 minutes) with a small downhill ski slope featuring 3 runs (beginner to moderate), cross country skiing, snowshoeing, and single track biking. They also provide snow shoes, downhill and cross country skis, and snowboards for rent.
Free ice skating, rental equipment available: Goerke Park This is right in town by Goerke Park. There is a free outdoor ice skating rink with a warming house and concessions, open from sunrise to 11pm. They have skates available to rent.
Iverson Park Winter Sports Area: Tobogganing, sledding, and (small) snow board run. Great for both kids and adults
This gives you a start on some of the things that make our town great. If there's anything else that really interests you and/or your family that wasn't on the list, let us know and we'll try to give you our best recommendation.

Easily the best rental house we have ever stayed at. Very clean, unbelievable kitchen and views of the water were great. Will stay again if it is available
We've stayed at this property 3 times so far and definitely plan on doing it again! The location is perfect and there's plenty of room to relax and have fun.
Loved the new game room in the garage. The teens and older kids hung out there all the time. We also enjoyed the swim mat we can pull into the lake. The grill was great for meals. And we also love the Japanese toilets.
Anthony was a very gracious host, and the house/property/amenities were above and beyond other VRBO’s we’ve stayed at. We had a very cozy stay in the middle of winter, and it was a treat to wake up to a sunrise over the frozen lake in the morning. I would definitely recommend a stay here, and we hope to come back someday to enjoy the kayaks.
Beautiful home with everything you’d like to enjoy your stay. Great view of the fishing pier from right inside the home. Kayaks, which were a great activity for all, and the hot tub was nice for the evening.
Host was great! Would definitely be interested in a future stay!
If you are looking for a property that has it all, this is the place. The location is central to shopping, dining, entertainment and downtown, yet it is secluded from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The property itself has everything you would want or need with plenty of room for our group of seven 70 years young grannies. The only downside for older travelers with mobility issues would be navigating stairs to the various levels. The kitchen is fully stocked, the beds are comfortable and watching the sunrise or the moon over the water is a must. Highly recommend this property.
Most beautiful home I've ever stayed in. Every room has a view of the water. Home was very well equipped with all the essentials. 4 kayaks got a lot of use as it was a great place to Kayak and see herons, turtles, deer and fish. Lots of places to eat in nearby Stevens Point including at Sentry World. We were able to setup their Pickleball net in the driveway and play a little pickleball. Water had some algae so some in our party did not want to swim.
This house was everything we could have imagined! It was the perfect setting for a family trip with my sisters, cousin and 81 year old mom. The only issue we had was the multi-level stairs for my mother.
We stayed at the home the entire trip and cooked all meals there. Everything we needed was provided.
My sister did some fishing, we played pickleball in the driveway with the portable net, and enjoyed the beautiful sunrises and the setting harvest moon over the lake.
It was definitely a trip to be remembered! Thanks to the hosts for making this a wonderful family memory!
Our family loved this house from the minuet we stepped in!
From the time we opened the door till the time we left we felt like we were some where special. This house had everything you needed. The house is well supplied with all the right cooking tools for what ever you are looking to cook. The bathrooms are beautifully done, spa like and always a towel near by. They have thought of everything, from life jackets to kayaks, fire wood for a camp fire! We will definitely be booking here again to enjoy the house and the lake views.
Hats off to our Host! Thanks for making our trip extra special.
This home is BEAUTIFUL and has a wonderful personality. The beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was well-stocked to help us cook for Thanksgiving. All the seating was very comfortable, and the styling of the space was really attractive. I can't tell you how much I appreciated that it wasn't just shades of grey everywhere. The heated floors and toilet seats were also incredible.
The listing did say that there was a hot tub, which I assume was just out of date because there wasn't one (which wasn't a big deal). Otherwise absolutely flawless place, and we are already considering staying here next year for Thanksgiving again.
Having booked such places for nearly ten years through VRBO and other apps I can confidently say that this place looked better than the listing photos, smelled clean and was better maintained than any other location. Lakeside properties tend to have their own character and charm, meaning that you are likely to make sacrifices on comfort and quality- not here. This location is comparable to homes i've booked in DC, NYC, Los Angeles, etc.
Fishing on the lake is good- i caught 3 northern pikes and got several bites. The available watercraft is well kept and ready to use.
If you like to cook your own meals you're in luck- all the appliances are new Bosch appliances. We were consistently surprised by the level of quality that was avaiable here from the ovens to the toilets.
I would visit again in a heartbeat.
We had a wonderful 6 days in Stevens Point visiting family and friends. The house is beautiful and very clean. The house had an amazing lake view kitchen with top of the line appliances. The masters bedroom had an amazing closet and masters bathroom. Love the Toto toilets and bidets.
The only thing that bothered us during the stay were the beds. The masters bed is on a high platform (king). It moves and makes a sound when you get in bed or when you sit on the left side of the bed. It was uncomfortable for my husband and I since we both have a back problem.
The first bedroom had the same issue. The bed would squeak the moment you move.
I don't think this would be an issue if we only stayed for a day or two.
Also the internet was acting up at night when we watch the game or movie on the living room tv.
We had to disconnect our phones and iPads from Wi-Fi every time we watch something on tv.
Overall, the house is beautiful and we had a beautiful stay.
Everything was great, clean, lots of entertainment options and host was quick to respond. Kitchen had so many necessities made staying and cooking a breeze! Will definitely be back if we are in the area!
Thoroughly enjoyed our get away in WI. (4 adults). Gorgeous, clean house with well appointed luxury kitchen and comfy beds. Great views of the lake. Not great for swimming, but we made good use of the paddle boat, kayaks, hot tub, Bosch gas stove, fishing rods and firepit. Tony and Rebecca were responsive to questions as hosts.
One of the best VRBOs we have stayed at, would definitely go back again! The house was spacious and clean with beautiful lake views. The kitchen was so well stocked we did plenty of cooking at home instead of going out. The game room in the garage had plenty of fun games to keep everyone busy even on a rainy day. Loved taking the kayaks and canoe out on the lake. Convenient location to get to anything you need in town.
Had a college reunion at this wonderful house! Excellent property to enjoy anytime of the year. Garage recently remodeled with pool table, basketball game, pinball machine and other items. House was very spacious for 6 people; kitchen ; plenty of room to spread out and back yard right on McDill Pond (dock, fishing, kayaks, canoe)and don’t forget a hot tub! Laundry area. Truly the best rental I have ever stayed in. Thanks for the extra work to make this home special.
