It is a “basement” unit but because this historic home was built on a significant back-cut there is an amazing amount of natural light. Clean, comfortable and amenity-filled, I would definitely stay here again. The listing shows a picture of an entire house and states “entire home”. The rental was actually the finished partial basement on the lower floor. While it is true if you read the entire listing this is disclosed, it should be prominent as when we reserved the property we were expecting an entire home as advertised. Given we already had fully paid the rental cost and it was non-refundable, we went ahead and travelled to Staunton and checked in. Right away, we were bothered by the loud footsteps above us, as the main floor of the house was also being rented. This incessant noise continued into the night and started again early the next morning. To be clear, it is not the fault of the people on the upper floor, the house is quite old and when the basement was renovated, it is obvious that no soundproofing or other structural separation was installed. While a very loud air purifier was able to mask some of the noise--the presence of which is quite telling that the owner is well aware of the noise issue—we still slept very poorly. The next morning we left and returned home, as given some health concerns we cannot have poor sleep two nights in a row. We demand that our second night be reimbursed. ##### Jackie F.
