Peaceful Waterfront Home on the Muskegon River

  • This 1,300 sf waterfront house is nestled into the hillside of the Muskegon River in Stanwood Michigan on a private road. The quiet country location is peaceful and beautiful yet only 10 minutes from downtown Big Rapids. This meticulously maintained home can be used as a summer getaway on the water or a winter retreat close to snowmobile trails. The main level entrance contains a family room with fantastic river views. There is also a full kitchen, dining area, utility room with washer/dryer, full bath and bedroom on this main level. Relax outside on the huge deck and feel like you are right over the river! Go upstairs for an additional bedroom, full bath and an a large 20x24 living area with scenic river views. Bring your fishing pole and cast a line! Feel free to bring your own boat and attach to the 30' seawall; this river opens up into a large all-sports lake right before Roger's Dam. Two kayaks and life jackets are also available for your use.

Staying at this peaceful waterfront home was an absolute dream. The description is spot on—the house is situated right on the Muskegon River, and the views from the back deck are so peaceful. Felt like HOME

Our stay at this riverside beauty was peaceful and comfortable; and it felt like home. I can see why all of the reviews are a 10 out of 10. We whole heartedly agree. I especially appreciated the soft linens and new towels. We hosted a Father’s Day lunch for immediate family and the deck was perfect! We will definitely stay again.

Perfect Lake House Weekend

Cutest place with the sweetest hosts!

Could not recommend Gail & Kevin’s place more! They were so wonderful and accommodating and the rental itself is perfect. Cute cottage

The house was super clean! It has a large family room for gathering and another smaller sitting room with a tv(which was perfect for my granddaughter to play her video games 😊). Our stay was in February, but there is a large deck looking over the River that would be great to sit out out and enjoy the view.

This property is a perfect arrangement of everything you could possibly need. You will not find a cleaner house. The property owner was surprisingly responsive which was nice. I have zero complaints or even recommendations on how our stay could be better. The kayaks were great. The location was great. We loved it.

River Retreat

Comfortable, clean, and well-appointed home with awesome 180° views of the Muskegon River. Pleased to have two kayaks and necessary accessories to enjoy paddling around the area. The location is serene. Spent mornings and evenings relaxing on the large deck overlooking the river. Expansive grassy front yard was perfect for bocce and ladderball (and it was shaded from midday on). Highly recommend this home!

Relaxation plus

For an older couple this house couldn’t have been better. To the ease if checking in, the cleanliness, the calmness and relative quietness on the river provided the perfect relaxation getaway we were hoping for. The house is fully equipped with all essentials. It was nice to have the house right up on the river rather than set back with the other houses. The owners clearly get what appeals to their guests.

River House

This property was a perfect weekend retreat for us. It was peaceful, exceptionally clean, and had a well-stocked snack basket and a pantry that included coffee, cooking supplies and even spices. The beds and furniture were very comfortable.We loved watching eagles, ospreys, herons and many other birds on the river from the deck and living room windows. My 5 year old grandson and parents visited one day and he was thrilled to catch big bass from off the sea wall. We were surprised to find the place also had kayaks and life preservers available if you chose to use them.it was a wonderful rental. I recommend it.

Quiet and relaxing

Communication with Gail was warm, professional, and easy. The view off the patio is tranquil and mesmerizing. Just beautiful. The snack basket was a nice treat. We ate at Shubergs. Top notch burger! We also ate at The Foreger in Howard City. Good quality meal. Highly recommend. The party store in 7 minutes away which was very convent. Big Rapids is only 15 minutes if you need groceries and restaurants. The stars over the water were beautiful. Thank you! We will be back.

Peaceful Setting on the River

We spent 6 days here in July for our anniversary. It’s a very peaceful setting right on the Muskegon river. Very quaint with decent privacy. Very quiet. No dogs barking or kids screaming. The house was spotless when we arrived. It’s a small 2 BR place but was fine for just us. We slept in the downstairs BR since it was a king bed but the bathroom is not attached like it is upstairs in the queen BR. Kitchen was nice although no dishwasher which was just fine. Very well stocked with supplies, TP, paper towels, garbage bags, soap, 2 coffee makers (Keurig and drip) and various food sundries. To get to Lake Michigan is about 80 mins to either Mears or Grand Haven but they are easy drives. If you want to beach it every day though the gas money adds up. But again they were nice drives through the country and small towns. The owners were very helpful with places to go, grocery stores nearby etc., and easy to reach and recommended a great restaurant in Big Rapids, The Blue Cow, which was awesome!! Great food and service and only about 15 mins away. We had so much fun and miss Michigan already! Thank you Kevin and Gail for sharing your home with us! John & Linda Cincinnati Ohio
