Peaceful and beautiful
The cabin was very clean and comfortable located in a quiet area with nice views. We enjoyed soaking in the hot tub and unwinding by the fire pit Luray Caverns and dining options are a short drive away. We elected to have some of our meals in the cabin utilizing both the kitchen and the charcoal grill out back. If this is your preference there is both a Walmart and a Food Lion within 15 minutes away to grab your needs.

Very delightful getaway!
This was a great getaway for me and my fiance; the property owner was around and responsive with all of our needs. The kitchen had everything we needed and the electric fireplace was a great touch. I just wish there was light outside where the hot tub is so that we could have used it during the night time.

Beautiful in cozy with one flaw
The stay was overall great. The property exceeded expectations, as far as appearance goes. One thing though, while it was clean on the surface, I couldn’t help but to notice it lacks regular deep cleanings in between guest. Very dust air duct intake, bottom of bathroom sink was pretty dirty, hand towel ring dusty, etc. Certainly not so bad that I would give a pour rating overall, but the house should address these cleanliness concerns.

Pleasant Mountain Retreat in Virginia’s Cabin Capitol
We enjoyed our stay. The views and spa were quite nice. Cabin was decorated very nicely. Would consider staying here again. The area was beautiful but far from attractions other than the caverns and some hiking trails. The cabin did not come with bathing soaps or cleaning spray. Will need to bring those along.

Cabin was very cozy and comfortable. Location is great with lots to do in the area. Perhaps upgrading to some sort of streaming service would be better for late night entertainment but overall a amazing spot. Would stay again.

PERFECTION!!!!!!
We did not want to leave. Stayed 3 nights. Loved the area, loved the cabin. It was so quiet and views are surreal! We brought our Kayaks , boat launch was less than 20 miles away, along with stores and restaurants. We had one full day of sun and one day of rain, and enjoyed coffee on the porch on both days. We travel atleast once a year to different places and this was the first time we insisted we had to return.Host checked in on us to assure we were having a good time. Hot tub was perfect for a cool morning, or late night under the stars !!

Great location with a beautiful view of the rolling hills. The cabin and amenities were great! Loved the front patio with the chairs, the fire pit and the Jacuzzi. Close to Shannendoah Np. Will make a return visit to this property in the near future.

Perfect weekend getaway for relaxation
My husband and I stayed here for our first getaway since having kids and it was the perfect peaceful and easy stay. The cabin was exactly as described and very clean. The view was beautiful and Luray was close enough to visit for lunch/dinner. The owner checked on us as we were leaving and he was very kind to ask us how our stay was.

Peaceful and romantic cabin for two!
My wife and I had an absolutely wonderful time in the private cabin. I had made the reservations without showing my wife and the cabin was better than expected upon arrival. This was a time to get away before the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season began and to reconnect and relax. The privacy of the cabin atop a hill did not disappoint even though other cabins could be seen from ours on the retreat center grounds. Our cabin also included a stone fireplace and mantle which was not shown in the on-line photos. Although the inserted fireplace was electric and did not a have a real flame, it provided good heat and made the room even more cozy and romantic. Great sunlight hits the front porch in the morning and we enjoyed sitting in the porch rocking chairs soaking up the sun, reading, journaling, praying, and drinking morning tea and coffee. The entire cabin was clean and well-kept. We cooked a few meals and had everything we needed. We had read previous reviews and the contract thoroughly and consequently brought additional paper products—paper towels, toilet paper, etc. The owners provide a starter roll of each and then you are on your own. We arrived on a Friday evening just before heavy rains and winds hit, remnants of the tropical storm that traveled up the coast from Florida. The private jacuzzi was already heated upon our arrival, likely a nice welcoming touch by the owners. After we enjoyed a cozy dinner, the strong winds apparently knocked out some local power lines and we were without electricity for 3 hours. The owners who live nearby immediately brought some nice candles and a lighter. Since the rain stopped, we went out to sit in the preheated jacuzzi and continued to enjoy the evening. Eventually the power returned. The private jacuzzi has a nice cover that maintains temperature quite well. The jacuzzi is also quite clean and maintained. We enjoyed post-dinner conversation there each night. Again, it was a fabulous get away cabin for two!

We were instantly sold on the photos listed for this cabin when we were searching for a place to stay in Shenandoah. But let me tell you, the pictures made it look beautiful but the moment we stepped foot into the cabin, we were blown away. It was even more beautiful in person. Perfect romantic getaway. My husband and I absolutely loved our stay and definitely want to stay again.

Loved the location. Very quit - I’ll be back for sure!
Overall was great. The hot tub & quit time best of all. There were lots of bugs getting in the house and those stink bugs were annoying. There was old coffee in the coffee pot which wasn't ours. Few suggestions, new knives…. maybe a sponge to wash dishes. Other than that I loved the place. Thank you again for a great place to stay.

A mountain getaway
Looking for a new cabin in the woods? This is for you. New cabins with hot tubs under the mountain sky. Kitchen is well equipped with the basics. If you are a foodie this area is a bit lacking. If you are going to cook, bring supplies from home. Nothing is provided, after many stays away I generally find, spices, oil etc. not even salt and pepper here. Super clean, with tv that can turn for sofa watching. Well stocked fire pit, just go into the woods for kindling. S’mores taste great under the stars. A perfect getaway just needs a few more homey items to make it an a+.

The weekend away we needed
This was a very much needed weekend for my wife and I. This gave us the opportunity to remove worries about projects and things that needed to be accomplished and just enjoy being somewhere quiet, cozy, clean and comfortable. There are plenty of activities in the surrounding area to keep you entertained if you decide to venture out. I would recommend checking out Shenandoah National Park and Skyline Drive if you happen to stay here and want a nice day out.

It was nice to see that what we saw on the internet was really what we got. We have gone places that looked amazing but when we got there they weren't. The only thing that wasn't great is the lack of places to eat. Fortunately the cabin had a full kitchen so we were able to go to supermarket and make stuff to eat. One place that was really nice was Moonshadows on Main Street where we had our anniversary dinner . They have a large patio but make your reservation before you go.

Lovely Mountain Escape
My partner and I loved our stay at this Hawksbill Retreat Cabin! This cozy cabin sits right in front of a beautiful view of the mountains that you can enjoy from the front porch, around a campfire, or even in a hot tub. This cozy cabin is perfect for a weekend stay. We were also very pleased with the property manager who accommodated our request to change the reservation dates last-minute when we faced inclement weather.

The pictures on the website/ app made it seem like the cabins opened up to the fishing pond on the ground and they did not, this was rather disappointing since we planned on spending some time out there but didn’t because we would of had to drive down the mountain to get to it. I also didn’t receive any information from the property manager as far as obtaining keys to our cabin until I reached out asking for steps for check in a few days before. When they finally responded it was with a rather rude email stating the had reached out to me several times although I hadn’t received a single email on my end.

Hawksbill is a great little getaway for anyone looking to relax. The pictures of the cabin are an exact representation of the house itself. It was immaculate when we arrived. The property manager provides a list of items that would be helpful to bring and her recommendations are spot on. The whole process of checking in and checking out were seamless. There is nothing more relaxing than sitting in the hot tub with a picturesque mountain view.

When you're looking for an escape from the hectic day to day, you want somewhere that is just that... an escape. This random find was nothing less than OUTSTANDING. Reading reviews can be painful because, well, its totally subjective. This cabin was more than I expected. Took my girl here as a surprise getaway from the city. We are both country at heart but work pays so we live in the hustle and bustle of the city. Location was awesome. Able to launch from here and go wherever. Up to Skyline, back down to Luray, then to the awesome diner about a mile from the cabin. The fire pit... the views... the hot tub... the cabin... just wow. Thank you so much for the memories. Will definitely be coming back when we can.

Clean and Cozy Cabins
My wife and I recently stayed at Hawksbill retreat cabins this past weekend. The cabins are clean and located in a quite part of Stanley, VA near Luray Caverns. The cabin we said in was cabin 6, which was just the right size for a couple. The cabin was very clean and butted up against the woods which still made it feel like you were camping. Randy the owner was very nice and other than some emails we were left alone to enjoy our time there. Only small recommendation I would have is to add some sort of table in the cabin. The only place to eat is the kitchen counter. Would definitely recommend for a couples weekend. Plus the fire pit and hot tub are added bonuses.

Great cabin, needs a few things
This was a beautiful cabin that as a whole suited our needs for a weekend getaway. There were a few things that could be improved upon, especially when considering the price paid & things included in other comparable rentals. The listing is for a queen size bed...it is not, it is a full/double. The air filter grate was terribly dusty. Basic nonperishables like salt, pepper, nonstick spray for cookware, charcoal for the grill (it is not listed in the description that it is a charcoal grill nor is it in the welcome email that you will need to supply charcoal), dishwasher fluid (it was there but almost empty), & extra blankets weren't included. The floor lamp by the bar & sofa wouldn't turn on, had to plug in to turn on, unplug to turn off due to the knob not working, mini blinds by sofa had a broken cord, the oven was dirty so that when we used it to cook the smoke alarm went off. The nonstick cookware/skillet (it was the only one, the only other was a large stainless steel skillet/frying pan & 2 pots) needs to be replaced as it's horribly scratched & shouldn't be used as it's a health hazard. There isn't anywhere to put shower items (shampoo, soap, etc) while in use other than the shower floor, the shower head on the left sprayed everywhere, making a huge mess, with little pressure & the hot water heater runs out of water quickly...you might get 15 minutes for one person and the cabin occupancy is 4. The filters on the hot tub were exposed & should have a cover. The lights under the microwave didn't work either, leaving the kitchen rather dark & there was a knob missing on the cabinet under the sink. I would look into a dimmer switch or a remote for the ceiling fan due to the vaulted ceilings as it is impossible to adjust for comfort. I would stay here again, but due to these things combined with the price is why I'm only giving 3 stars. For that price/night I do expect a bit more.
