HOTEL 52 Is very convenient for us. My son lives 5 minutes away ,so when we visit its ideal. The hotel itself is lovely. Rooms very comfortable and spacious. We stayed in quadruple room 1 double 2 singles. The only reason i took off a star was the toilet rool holder was hanging off the wall. I tried to report it but there was no one at reception. There was a number to call . But we had a appointment to get to . This is our 2nd stay at the hotel and we definitely will be staying again. The restaurant Rangos is fantastic lovely food and lovely service. 😊

Our arrival at the hotel was met with a very warm welcome. The lady on reception was more than happy to tell us about the area, and recommended places to eat, which turned out to be very good. She was really helpful and informative, although she did seem to be slightly distracted, but we later learned that her son had been rushed into hospital with chest pains, but she couldn’t leave as there was no one to take over, which we thought was very commendable of her. The price was quite competitive, compared to other hotels and our room was quite nice, and very clean, but the tv continually turned itself on, and the handle on the bathroom door was loose, but these are minor issues that can be resolved. Despite this, we will definitely return.

Lovely and clean No one on reception during the night, anyone could walk in - this made me quite anxious and and didn't feel safe. Wouldn't want to stay there on my own. Also at one point during the night i had misplaced the hotel room key but luckily we hadn't but there would have been a problem, if we had and no one available on reception. Paper cups - prefer proper cups and spoons. Price was very good for 2 adults for 2 nights. Would use again if someone is on reception during the night.

Christmas get away

We stayed here after a day at Beamish Museum. I booked it because it was close, convenient and reasonably priced. When we arrived to check in we were greeted by a lovely polite receptionist. When we got to our room it was lovely and clean, warm and had everything we would need. There was a small issue with the shower draining too slow, but the receptionist was so helpful. The restraunt next door has lovely food and reasonably priced and has lovely staff too.

Would not return - no staff working & tiny bed
When we arrived at the hotel, there was no staff working as they had all become ill apparently so we had to check in with the restaurant next door. We were charged incorrectly so ended up paying more than we expected. The bed was absolutely tiny & no way was it a double bed. Me and my partner slept awfully as their version of a double bed is more like a 3/4 or even a big single!

Our go to place when visiting Family in the area. Comfy bed, clean bedding, hot clean shower. A comfortable lounge downstairs to relax, enjoy a cuppa , drink etc . Restaurant on site too. Staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a comfortable stay . Well done to the team , always polite, chatty and helpful. 😍

We booked 2 of the same rooms, 1 for us and 1 for my parents for a 2 night stay, the hotel was clean and close to Beamish which was great, however our room wasn't to the same standard as my parents, our room had many items missing ie: plug for the sink was missing, glass shelf on the mirror was missing in the bathroom along with glass wear for rinsing teeth, very big crack in the main bedroom window, bedside cabinet was missing, full length mirror in room was missing but the four hooks for it were present, only 2 pillows where as my parents room had 4 pillows, paper cups in room for tea & coffee which leaked all on the bedside cabinets, not appropriate for beverages at all. when we reported the missing items we were informed that they had been stolen or broken and had not been replaced yet which was not a satisfactory reply. we do not feel that our complaint was taken seriously and just brushed off and didnt matter. If we had all the missing items in our room like my parents room had, which was the same price we would be happy to stay again in the future.

Good luck if you want a good nights sleep!! Banging of doors all night long, thin walls so could hear people in the next room flushing the loo, running the taps etc. Shouting and loud talking until late, coming from the bar area. Didn’t feel particularly safe, car park not secure. The staff all pleasant. The new refurbished restaurant (separate to the hotel) but, conveniently linked to the hotel was the best bit - Lovely food and great staff. The hotel in general could do with some money investing into it.
