Decent budget accommodations in the center of Charlotte Amalie managed by a responsive staff. There's a café on premises offering complimentary coffee and reasonably priced breakfast and lunch items which is nice as there aren't many restaurants very close by. The A/C was inadequate as it was poorly installed at floor level and window's louvers could not be fully closed. The ceiling fan did not work but the staff provided a standing fan. Mosquitoes were an occasional problem.

Hotel is under renovation, so the water wasn’t working (either hot or very hot) - no cold water. Had a bolt sticking out by my pillow (didn’t see it until the morning). Owner was nice but the hotel is in rough shape right now. Very convenient location.

As you mentioned, we are currently in the midst of ongoing renovations that are intended to make improvements to our rooms & overall facility. At times, these renovations may unfortunately result in temporary disruptions that can negatively impact operations, which may have been the cause of the water issue. Need a lot more work to beautify the business clean the lot next door even if it is make into a parking lot space please give it a good up lift i no you're doing some renovation place signs where to find the ice machine a hot water kettle would be good in the rooms my stay was great take out the long dressers and put a small fridge some people may want to stay a week if the place is hot would like something cold to drink when they get to there rooms and not having a stop at the store every time thank you ..hope this helps

Room was clean. The windows are louvers so they don’t really close. Outside noise comes in. There was a band playing somewhere that sounded like it was under our window. Then the roosters started crowing at 3 a.m. I turned the A/C on to drown out the noise but it didn’t help. The A/C is down at the floor so the room did not really get cool. If not for the noise, I’d stay here again.

We're aware that the issues you mention can be a problem at times & are in the process of renovating our guest rooms to include replacement of the old louver-style windows with glass impact windows, as well as replacing the window a/c's with split units. These will result in a significant improvement in insulating our guests from outside noise, as well as cooling the rooms. We apologize for the discomfort you experienced.

I stayed at 2 different hotels and also rented a house while on island. This was the better option of the hotels. Both were budget but this was slightly cleaner, had less stairs, and was a little more downhill so less of a walk to the central shopping/dining area. The front desk was great about letting me store my luggage so I could explore a bit more before flying out.

LOVE IT!!
The customer service is exemplary. The owners/staff were so thoughtful, nice, and accommodating. No it’s not the Taj Mahal brand new palace feel but it’s absolutely comfortable and quaint and everything you need for your St. Thomas vacation. Great little café included and the owner is an amazing cook. You’re absolutely in the center of everything for the town. You’re within walking distance to everything and a short taxi ride to the beaches. We stayed for eight days and wouldn’t want to stay at a different place. We will be back for Carnaval!

Doors slamming at all hours. Many bathroom items in disrepair. Small cheap TV. Uncomfortable wicker chair. Cramped small room. Not consistent housekeeping-took towels without replacing. Small cafe with good food, but expensive. Good supply of ice. Good location

We actually enjoyed our short stay at Midtown Guest House. It's not going to work for everyone but, the staff is super friendly and they do what they can to make your stay comfortable. For the value conscious traveler this is THE place to stay in downtown Charlotte Amalie. It has all the basic needs and there is plenty of restaurants and shopping within a short, easy walk. We would probably stay here again if it were for 1 or 2 nights.

The staff was nice, but not quite what expected from previous reviews. The beds were very comfortable. It was very convenient to downtown Charlotte Amalie and there was limited parking which worked out for us. The property is pretty run down though and we had no hot water and our shower backed up terribly - we were standing in 2-3 inches of water. It was very inexpensive though, so I guess it depends on what you want. For the price, I'm not sure you could find anything better.

The setting was close to shopping and dining. However, the area is in an older part of the city, so one must know that some of the buildings are showing their age. The Midtown Guest house staff were pleasant and helpful. The rooms were clean and adequate for our needs. The owners are investing in making needed updates to the facility.

Convenient location to midtown/downtown which is not far from the cruise ships and shopping. Taxi stand and safari stop only a couple blocks away. Easy to walk to. Quiet area, except for the roosters that like to wake up well before daylight. But this seems typical for tropical locations. The area felt safe despite some folks loitering a couple blocks away during the day. Staff is friendly and helpful. There is a microwave in the office area/cafe available for use. The room could use more shelving and hooks in the bathroom. Good size room.

We have & maintain the lowest rates for our market & try to provide a value option for visitors that don't need resort-style accommodations & just need somewhere clean & comfortable to stay in a great location. Thanks for your helpful review - We're sorry we weren't able to better accommodate you. There was a water main break in the downtown area during your stay that led to reduced water pressure, along with 2 clogged water filters in-house that caused water to run at a trickle at times. Please accept our sincere apologies. Refrigerators are not standard in our rooms, but there is an ice machine on the property that's available 24-hours.

Surprised we were able to get parking space directly in front of establishment. While room was dated and worn, it did meet our needs for one night. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Could not get TV to function, however did not mention to staff as it was late evening.
