We arrived at 8 PM, we found the hotel's door locked and a paper indicating to go to the hotel across the street. We didn't stay in the hotel we booked and we weren't informed about it before! The breakfast was served in another different hotel. The room was spacious but all the equipments were very old and outdated. In the shower the water's pressure was very weak. The TV didn't work the first night and they didn't fix it until we insisted the second night.. We asked the reception what bus we shall take to go to Gozo's ferry and they gave us inaccurate information. A last thing is that they promised to give us a breakfast box as we were leaving early to the airport the following morning, then they changed their mind and resigned. This is not a big deal, only if they said it earlier... By the time we got back to the hotel, all the stores were closed and we spent a long time starving with no food!

A gem on the island of Malta
The staff were super friendly and accommodating and the room was very adequate for the price , there was an issue with some noisy kids but when it was made known to the staff they took care of it. Breakfast was great and plentiful offered all the standard breakfast fare you'd expect and was tasty too. Staff really knew the area recommending a few places when i needed recommendations and it was nice that when a staff member passed you by wherever they always smiled and said hello and when you asked something of a staff member they were more then happy to try an accommodate your request

Good sized room and clean, no proper air conditioning very antiquated, swimming pool had green algae all round the edge of the bottom, but what completely ruined our holiday was the hoards of rampaging teenagers until 4 and 5 some of the mornings, needless to say we would never stay in this hotel again, sad really.

Good for basic young traveller as full of student exchange groups and often noisy young party goers but cheap so can’t complain too much

3 days same towels 2 days no towels disgusting rude letter left for me which had nothing to do with me which they admitted and apologized bathroom wasn't touched the whole 2-week stay the disgusting smell all through the hotel and extremely rude staff in the bar who could barely speak English and no Maltese worst two weeks I've had away

They never changed the towels in the week. We had to just grap towels that were on the landing to have fresh towels. They came to door at 8.30 to service room HELLO people are on holiday, usually you wait till guests leave for the day. Kitchen the chef should be ashamed of himsel witht the food he put out. I'd say the dog wouldn't even touch it. Even the toast was poor due to such low quality of bread. Bar closed but looked to be an nice enough area if just cleared out. Was much brighter that bar of the San Anton that was recommened. Also no ffod served in San anton they had to come over accross to eat. Badly needs investment. Staff in reception quite friendly but otherwise very poor. Also Jacuzzi needs cleaning and temp was very cold.

The Santa Maria Hotel is a decent and good facility. The staff are adequately friendly and helpful. And the room that I stayed in was decent. However, the location was a long distance that was certainly aggravated by having to endure the frustration and stress of waiting for and withstanding achingly long, and at times, very congested bus journeys, in particular to the capital. Also, though minor, but annoying nonetheless, on many occasions there was a failure to replace my room towels even though I had amply emphasised this many times. Minor annoying inconvenience. The man at the tourist activity information desk distinguished himself quite favourably. He was very open, welcoming and generous in his directions and information. Of which I was grateful for. This hotel was decent and adequate in a functional fashion.

Would not stay there again,. Doors to rooms rattled all night, woke up to find room crawling with ants. No bar, had to cross road to use another hotels bar and for breakfast. Needs major refurbish. Staff friendly though.

It was inexpensive, nothing special but i have no complaints considering how little we paid. You won't find 5 star luxury at bargain basement prices anywhere in Malta. It's clean, comfortable and If you are visiting Malta on a tight budget it's great value and a good option. I had a great time for a week and it didn't cost a lot.

Clean hotel with helpful staff.
The outside light on the balcony cannot be turned of so bring eye shade for sleeping. The noise carries along corridors and through walls so bring earplugs. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable.

It's a hit and miss
Clean room, comfortable bed. It was lovely. hotel is a five minute walk to buses at Imhassel but you have to turn right out of hotel then left then walk straight down to Mosta Road.

Strangely run hotel
The booking was paid in advance using hotels.com but it took ages to check in and I had to forward my email as they claimed no record of my booking. They asked for a €50 pre authorization which I gave on my credit card. I had to pay cash at the Bar despite having given a credit card pre authorization. I checked out and they failed to produce a final bill, stating my pre authorization was for payment of the room (already pre paid) The said that the pre authorization would take 30 days to clear. So I asked to see the manager. He refused to give a final bill saying the pre authorization was to cover any damages to the room. So I asked them to check the room, which they did then confirmed there was no damage. However they still refused to give a final bill to clear the pre authorization. I owed nothing but they refused to clear the pre authorization. So I asked a written confirmation that their was no damage to the room, which the manager did do. I am told I have to wait 30 days for the pre authorization to clear. Pathetic and ridiculous situation.

Room cleaning poor only 4 out of 6. Air conditioning very poor did not drop room to comfortable temperature. Access to balcony hazardous as air con pipe in the doorway. Towels smelly. Bathroom shabby with broken plug and cigarette burns on shelf.

Full of young loud students very obnoxious and rude, no respect for others. Food was terrible I would rather eat dog food, the reception staff were polite but that’s about it! The room was unclean and very basic. Only other decent thing was the pool and jacuzzi.
