Charming villa in a great location on Fish Bay. Our 2nd stay on St. John and Carmel By the Sea was a great spot for us to get where we wanted to and come home to relax in our own private retreat. Lots of beautiful plants around the villa which added to the secluded feel. The pool/deck area was exactly as pictured. There is a large, well stocked kitchen/bar area with plenty of room to prepare meals & drinks. The bathroom is uniquely open to a private bedroom porch area outside. We liked it and found keeping towels on the rack inside the door to the bedroom minimized mosquito issues mentioned by some. This place has everything you need to enjoy your trip. From the gardens to the plant life to the privacy. A true piece of paradise. We have stayed in many places over the past 28 years. This is by far our favorite. Kitchen is a chefs kitchen. Has everything you need. Plenty of towels and beach towels. Love the candles in the evening and the outdoor bathroom. So unique in so many ways. Looking to book next year. ##### Joanne F. The villa was the perfect size for two and was well-equipped for a week-long stay. The views were panoramic, and we enjoyed our morning coffees and evening wine time sitting on the porch, admiring the beautiful views. Many evenings, upon returning from our daily adventures at the beaches of Saint John's or hiking in the mountains, we would take a dip in the pool and enjoy our wine on the veranda and a delicious home-cooked meal prepared in Chef Ted's well-stocked kitchen. Ted’s villa easily ranks in my top three worldwide. That said, Ted’s place is in a league of its own. It was pure luxury, perfectly blending island architecture with nature in the most seamless and breathtaking way. Ted, a famous island chef, took the time to share his incredible story with us, which added a personal touch to our stay. The villa’s highlights are endless: daily visits from the sought-after Bananaquits, endless starry starry nights enjoyed from the pool overlooking Fish Bay, and a garden that rivals some of the best botanical gardens in the U.S. We gathered fresh herbs from the garden to elevate our five-star meals, paired with fresh lobster from the local market, making us feel like absolute rockstars. The design, ambiance, and hospitality were unparalleled, and I can’t believe we were able to experience this at such a reasonable price. Anyone who writes him a bad review is unhappy in life. Ted’s villa is more than a stay—it’s an unforgettable experience. ##### regina g. It was very secluded and beautifully decorated and very well stocked. We used the pool almost every day. I think the listing on VRBO should list everything that is stocked. It might help people pack less. The view of the bay was gorgeous. Please note that this is up in the hills and not near beaches, which we knew. The breezes on the elevated porch were great. Even though it is only a few miles from Cruz Bay, it takes a little bit longer than expected because of the steep roads and appropriately low speed limit. Please note that the pool was very private even though there is an apartment for the owner or property manager on the first floor. Also note that the bathroom is partially open to the outdoors, which is lovely, but can be a bit buggy in the early morning. The house has mosquito repelling units which can be placed in the bathroom to reduce the mosquitos, if necessary. It wasn't necessary in the main part of the house. Again, the home is lovely with vaulted ceilings, a beautiful kitchen and plenty of room. Wifi is available in the living room/kitchen. We could not get a Verizon signal at the house, but Verizon is not the main carrier for the island. We don't mind...we often go where there is no signal...on purpose. Location is secluded but still accessible to Cruz Bay. The views here are breathtaking. The pool is a wonderful addition, especially if you get a chance to watch the Stars. I felt like I was staying in a botanist’s dream, there was so much greenery on the property! Ted really takes care of this place, and the kitchen was very well appointed. We ended up eating out only one night because I was enjoying the kitchen and grill so much. The house had everything we needed to explore St. John, even a cooler and beach chairs. We wanted something private with a pool and this home did not disappoint. The views from the pool and back wraparound deck were phenomenal. The interior with the wood and high ceilings was beautiful. It was really helpful to have a greeter meet us at our jeep rental and show us the way to the house. Chef Ted lives below but we only saw him once and he was very personable. The house has everything you could need. Gorgeous kitchen. Outdoor bath. Private pool. Ambiance. Stocked bar. Views. Beach supplies and more.
