The snorkeling is superb (turtles, fish, squid, Pelican Rock, etc) and we have our nice kayak down by the water for your personal use - just carry our paddle down and bring it back up. There are wonderful old St. John type island amenities near the property, including Sloop Jones' shop just three houses away for one-of-a-kind clothing and art and the local East End families at Hansen Bay and nearby beaches. The East End is the "other side" of St. John - quiet, natural, private, incredible sunsets by the pool, yoga on the pool deck, grilling on the upper deck, and deep star gazing in the natural dark of this secluded retreat area. We've never experienced such completely quiet evenings. It takes about 15-20 minutes to get to Coral Bay and 45 to Cruz Bay, so if you stay here get some groceries in town or at the market in Coral Bay (actually, that market was better than the one in Cruz Bay). If you're interested in anything like nightlife or late dinners, you're better off in Cruz Bay, but having been on the island before, we were very happy to visit beaches and the Reef Bay Trail by day, get lunch out, and then have dinner at the villa. Our favorites were the baby goats running up and down the road, the little anoles and the 2 hermit crabs under the stairs. The view from the front deck (and the pool) is amazing! Because we rented a jeep, we were able to drive all over the island with no trouble. The pool is fabulous the house was beautiful and comfortable The views were breathtaking! Having access to the private beach and it being right at pelican Rock made it the greatest place we have ever stayed. When we return we want to rent this exact house again! ##### Larry V. Just right for two- private and quiet with a great view. A steady breeze kept us cool every night- Even in July we only had the AC going for a few hours. The community beach area was like having our own private waterfront. Great snorkeling. ##### David A. Very comfortable. We had everything we wanted and needed. When electricity went out we still had the grill to cook on. Pool was warm and enjoyable. It does take some driving on the winding roads to reach the East End, but we love getting away for a peaceful vacation. The house has a huge, wonderful porch, fully equipped kitchen, nice living room, bathrooms, comfortable beds, outdoor shower and a pool! We enjoy kayaking and snorkeling around Pelican Rock from the neighborhood beach. ##### Courtney N. You'll need a Jeep to visit the various beaches and hiking areas, so when you want a day to relax, you have everything you need at the house and short walk to the waterfront. Adventures we enjoyed on St, John: Kekoa half day sail and snorkel & Reef2Peak guided paddleboarding. Snorkel spots we love: downhill to private beach- snorkel to Pelican Rock and Hansen Bay, Haulover Bay & Saltpond Bay. ##### Courtney N.
