Visiting Southport, NC you get a genuinely unique destination that combines all the charm of a laid back coastal village with historic southern architecture and style. Southport is located at the mouth of the Cape Fear River, the intracoastal waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. The view from the waterfront is extraordinary. It has been the romantic setting for dozens of TV shows and movies including 'Safe Haven.'There are many great restaurants. Relax on one of the many bench swings down by the waterfront. The downtown area is one of a kind where the streets are lined with small unique shops. The huge sprawling oak trees border the avenues leading to striking historic homes. Southport is home to the N.C. 4th of July festival. ( book early). The Plantation is a beautiful coastal community in Southport which has its own Marina. 15+ miles of trails, nature and wildlife, restaurants and golf. Fishing for the kids and playgrounds. It's comfortable, clean and perfectly set up for 2 couples. The location is peaceful and quiet. Trish was wonderful in providing us with suggestions for our stay. Everything was spotless and well maintained. Loved the decor and the beds were very comfortable. Appreciated all the little details, such as luxury towels and linens, kitchen was well stocked with everything, Keurig and drip coffee makers, board games and local information. The map was very helpful in navigating the complex. We enjoyed fishing at the docks and lake area. The screened porch was great for enjoying morning coffee, or having dinner overlooking the pond and golf course. Our host was impeccable with communication about our stay and any issues that might arise. Pool was very clean and located just across from the building. Would definitely stay here again! My daughter and I absolutely loved spending time out on the balcony overlooking the golf course, and the beach club access is a GAME CHANGER. Having access to bathrooms and an oceanside pool when you’re at the beach with children is ideal. This place felt like home, and Trish was so good to answer any question I had during our stay. ##### Christy W. Extrodinarily clean, safe and updated property. Having access to the clubhouse on the beach is a great amenity. It is tastefully decorated and extremely clean. The screened porch on the golf course is breathtaking. Trish was extremely responsive. Would definitely stay here again. ##### Keri M. The condo is clean, modern and quiet - with a beautiful screened porch and golf course view. Really appreciated the blackout blinds in the bedroom too. Ample parking and an easy drive to both Oak Island beaches and the cute town of Southport. We loved having access to the nice bathrooms at the Beach Club. The beds were comfy, the sitting area on the deck was lovely, and there was a separate dining space off the kitchen for meals eaten in the condo. There are so many areas of St. James that are special it’s hard to just list a few. St. James Plantation is a wonderful area to visit and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
