When I checked in there was a mix up about my booking as I had booked off an online retailer. I had to show my phone app to confirm that I had a room booked as the hotel could not find my reservation on their system. We had requested a later check out and was told we could check out at 12 pm. The next day we got a call at 11:00 am asking us to check out. When I explained that we had been told we could check out at 12 the staff member told me nothing was written to indicate that and became argumentative with me. I told her that perhaps the staff just forgot to write it down on my file but yet she just kept saying well it wasn’t written down. Anyway the hotel itself was good but wasn’t totally pleased with the service. I don’t think I would stay here again as there are other great hotels with similar pricing in the area. Lighting is also poor in the washroom. I had to go out into the hallway near a mirror to shave! Even that lighting was poor but better than the vanity area - no clock radio, sure we all have phones now but I'm used to glancing at a clock radio to see what time it is, not having to bring my phone to bed and leave it on and grab to check the time? - you get 2 fruit once, your first day only - slow wifi internet, also a big disappointment I've stayed at 5 star hotels in Taipei twice in a year before this trip and it had what this property did not give me. If any of these are important to you, I'd look at somewhere else. That's what I will be doing next time. - Nice, friendly staff. It's too bad otherwise." It is centrally located, easy access to MRT and the hotel has a shuttle to the MRT as well at specific times. Many good restaurants and a night market are in walking distance. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. The staff excellent, friendly, and cheerful. The breakfast which we had included with our rate was very good. Had only 1 issue and that was occasionally I could smell a slight musty odor just in the corner of the room but no where else and the smell didn’t travel into the room and it wasn’t all the time. It may have been that we were on the top floor and there is a roof garden? I sometimes smelled the same smell in the 7th floor seating area outside of the elevators. I never smelled it on the other floors. If I were to return to Taipei I would definitely stay there again but would ask for a different floor. We were very pleased with our choice to stay there. A side note, the pastry shop connected to the hotel is a great place to grab a latte and also their pineapple cakes make a perfect gift. They are packaged beautifully and taste so good. You can order and pick up right before you leave as they are fresh and are best eaten within 2 weeks.
