Beware of owner
We arrived on 4/4 with easy checkin. The sliding door to the balcony is very difficult to open and close. You can tell this is an older building. We enjoyed the beach location and the heated pool. The staff at Beachers Lodge are extremely friendly. We came back to the room at 9pm and were attempting to get the kids to bed on the sleeper sofa. There were no sheets/pillows for the pull out. We emailed the owner and they told us to check the unit. We thoroughly checked the drawers, closets, cabinets and found some quilted pillow cases. We were able to get sheets/pillows from the front desk and just had to make sure we returned them when we check out. The staff wanted to make sure our kids could have a decent sleep. Housekeeping came Friday and arrived only with toilet paper. We were given one roll for four days, so we had to email a request for more toilet paper as well. The owner did not believe us that there were no sheets so the housekeeper only arrived with toilet paper. At this point, we said don’t worry about coming back with sheets. Meanwhile, this is a dog friendly unit and a dog friendly condo. We left our two dogs at home with friends. The housekeeper told the owner she saw a dog in our unit. This is clearly a complete lie. She most likely heard the dog next door that wouldn’t stop barking. We immediately got charged a $120 pet fee. We emailed the owner and the fee was removed that same day. Beware that they really want to charge a pet fee. Would not stay due to owner

What a shame!
The location is a 5 out of 5. The TV did not work in bedroom, the cable package offer about 15 channels of which 2 are worth watching. The bed cover was stained. The sliding door took a crane to open. The AC unit didn’t work half the time and sounded like a helicopter. Kitchen poorly supplied of utensils and no dish towel. Since our stay was over the weekend there was no one to respond to the issues with the TV and air. Looking back at earlier reviews I realize that we were not the first to have some of these issues. Shame because this could be a nice place.

The bed was very comfortable. Dining area: like the high top but cushions would improve the comfort. Living: couch is TERRIBLE. All sat out. Chairs are not comfortable as they are almost positioning a person into a lying down recline. And they’re hard to get out of. Balcony: cushions would improve the comfort. Also, NO beach chairs as are pictured. Why??? Kitchen: a hog poge of dishes and glassware. Really, can’t supply a nice kitchen setup. ??? Bathroom was comfortable but the shelf over the toilet is in bad shape and needs replacing. This was not a CHEAP accommodation but it felt CHEAP because of the things listed.

St Augustine - Anniversary Trip
Although we didnt travel with our dog this time, as dog owners, when we go on vacation we understand we can't have high expectations when we rent beach dog friendly properties. But here are a few things we found in this property we did not expect: 1. Damaged property / lack of maintenance - Living room vertical blinds were in bad conditions and were missing slats and they were on top of the kitchen cabinet (picture attached) - Missing bulb in the kitchen area (picture attached) 2. Dirty property - there were spider webs on the furniture (picture attached) - Interior of kitchen cabinets were dirty 3. Dirty dishes - Part of the rental rules is that each guest would wash and store the dishes, instead of professional cleaning. Generally people on vacation don't care much for cleaning their rental property and that resulted in greasy pans, coffee stained mugs, stained coffee pot (disgusting) to say the least (picture attached) 4. Lack of basic cleaning supplies. - We could not find any Windex or any other cleaning supply available for basic surface cleaning. Additionally, we do understand that sometimes, units have their limitations as it relates to the solutions in place such as the AC unit and etc. However, if there are limitations on the unit themselves like 72 and 78 degrees limitations, that should be shared prior to booking. We regret to say our stay was very disappointing.

Nothing like pictures and filthy interior
Positives: beachfront views. Negatives: filth filth and more filth. This property is the dirtiest and the absolute worst I have ever booked. In fact, I left the place cleaner than how we received it! Upon entering, I had to wipe down all countertops and floors because dust and dog fur dominated the entire unit, as if no one had cleaned the unit prior to our arrival. A dirty and stained dish rag was left in the kitchen sink as a welcome present. The bathroom shower doors were broken and hard to function. The curtains in the living room were misplaced and not working properly. The dining room table was wobbly and not functional for a sit-down and enjoy any meals. The furniture that was in the unit upon our arrival was COMPLETELY different than what was shown in the pictures on the VRBO listing. The A/C units are extremely loud and do not allow any relaxation (I am aware we could turn them off but its Florida). Silverware was all stained prior to our usage therefore I had to deep clean everything we chose to use from the unit (used very little, bought paper plates, bowls, and plasticware). We were only provided 4 towels for an entire week stay, which is ridiculous. And to top it all off, we later found out that we could have had a cleaner unit with unlimited access to clean towels and housekeeping if we had just booked directly from the hotel the condo is located in FOR A CHEAPER STAY. I sincerely hope you reanalyze how you are treating your paying costumers that choose to stay in your unit with hard-earned money!!!! Thats bad karma.

Sorry you were unhappy with the unit. We wish you would have notified us so we could have corrected any issues. We would have quickly sent our housekeeper back. We would not have expected you to stay in a place like you described. The furniture has been upgraded since the photos were taken. All units at this complex have the same type of AC unit. This condo is the largest of three types of condos offered, at this location, hence the higher price. This is a well-priced ocean front condo in a great beach location!

Did not have usually minor amenities in all condos: Not even small bottle dish detergent No small shampoo/conditioner 2 very small ( bagged) soap bars ( slivers) with very little suds I had to go out and buy theses basics that should have been available in the condo Also when sitting on balcony, AC goes in and off ( loudly) and blows warm air down on the balcony- very loud window units!

Very cute condo with a beautiful view. Easy check in. Great access to beach. The condo was clean and well stocked with cookware. The bedroom needs block out drapes or shades because the outside lights flood the room all night. The bedroom needs new pillows because they were flat and smelt of other guests. Overall we really enjoyed our stay.

Clean property with nice furnishings. Only complaint was poor job in transitioning this place from whatever it was to now a condo. Poor workmanship and sliding door to balcony dangerously worn out. Sliding door in shower also wobbled. Pool closed for 1 month due to complex exterior being painted. View could not have been more perfect. Pet friendly!!

The location and views from this condo are amazing...right on the beach with easy access. A minor snafu with getting the access code for check-in. I never received the email with the code from the property management, and since it was a weekend I could not contact them as they were closed. I messaged the host Marty, after a few unnecessary back and forth messages, I was finally given the access code. I was told by Marty the property mgmt would resend the email they had supposedly sent previously to me at 9:00 the following Monday morning...I am still waiting for that said email. As far as the condo interior, maybe in need of a deep cleaning. I realize with "pet friendly", there will be some remnants of pets, and I imagine the turn around time for cleaning in between guests is only a few hours or so. The main room furniture was different than in the photos...much more worn and items missing such as coffee table and rugs. The cushions were stained and the couch had an unpleasant odor. I purchased deodorizing spray in hopes of alleviating the smell. Rugs would have been nice also (most rugs are washable ) because the floors were sticky and had hair/sand present. Luckily there were plenty of linens-we put sheets on the couch so we could sit and extra towels served as rugs. Did not want to use the kitchen unless necessary. The sponge for the sink was worn and had old food stuck in it. A new sponge for each new guest might be nice since they are inexpensive. Also ran out of paper towels and almost toilet paper, would be nice to have extra. I realize this is a residence and not a hotel, maybe I expected too much for my first Vrbo rental. Hopefully just a fluke and other properties will be better in the future.

Great view. Good location. Short walk to the beach. Great pizza across the street. Wish there was a ramp down to the beach in place of stairs. The kitchen could use a few more pans (frying and large pot). There was a nail head sticking up just behind the couch where it appears some molding may have been at one time. Add room darkening curtains to the bedroom, replace the missing slides on the piece on the sliding glass doors and grease the sliding glass doors for easier opening and we would come again.

We like Beacher’s Lodge condos. The beachfront views are amazing. This condo is partially renovated at this time but everything worked and the amenities were accurate. The check in process was easy. It’s next to an elevator and the ice machine. Mild smell of mold and outdated furniture will not keep us away. Gladly book this again.

Ok, but had some repair work needed
Overall the place was just what we were looking for. A cheaper ocean view balcony. But there were a few things that needed repair. Some trim was coming off the wall, both doors to the balcony kept coming off the track and made it difficult to go in and out. And some cabinet doors were coming off as well. Other than that the place was great!

Wake up with a gorgeous beach view!
Our stay here was phenomenal. The beach is right there, the balcony overlooking the beach is perfect to wake up to. Bathroom and bedroom are both spacious! Only slight downside to this property was its proximity to everything. We had never been to St. Augustine before and we came for our family member’s graduation. We did not rent a car as we expected to Uber/Lyft into downtown. It may have been because it was grad season, but there were very limited amount of ubers/lyfts (or they cost $75) and it was just the 2 of us! We wish we had rented a car to even go to the grocery store (shout out to the circle K across the street), but we were only in town for a couple of days. Not much within a walking distance. That is our fault for not looking at what was around when we booked! All that being said, the room was clean and spacious, and if you like waking up on the beach- this is your spot! The pool was well-maintained as well. The price cannot be beat for such a well-kept space + view. Would absolutely return again, just with a rental car!

Location was just great And view from balcony super. We felt quite few things could be better and needs upgrading. A Deep cleaning needed!!! Poor linens- need replacing! Furniture dirty -needs cleaning Tv needs upgrading WiFi situation is bad. Cabinets need repairing and Also flooring. More trash bags and paper towels should have been left. This place Should have been PRISTINE for the amount of money paid.

Amazing View - Right On the Beach
My husband and I (with our two small dogs), booked this VRBO as a last-minute Christmas getaway. My overall review is that this is a great location with a perfect view of the ocean and the accommodations are more than adequate for what we needed. It isn't always easy to find a decent pet-friendly rental but Beacher's Lodge as a whole had lots of guests with pets. There are grassy areas to walk your pet and our dogs loved the beach. There is a private access to the beach from the side of the property. Parking was plentiful and once we got oriented and figured out where everything was located we felt very comfortable. The condo itself was nice. I appreciated the upgraded shower and there was always plenty of hot water. Having a full sized refrigerator and microwave was very handy and appreciated. Although we didn't use them, there were plenty of dishes, pots and pans, utensils and small appliances there to use. The view of the ocean is fantastic and we either sat on the balcony or in the living room staring at it all day! (It was very cold during our visit and we only did short walks on the beach.) There were only a couple of things that detracted from our stay but were not a huge deal. The people in the condo next to us were smoking on the balcony and if we had the slider door open, we could smell it. I let our rental person know and they had property management take care of it promptly. You just have to remember that while this is a private condo, there are lots of people staying there and they might not be as courteous (or quiet) as we would like them to be. The other thing is the outside building light in the hallway shines directly into the bedroom. The blinds do not block enough light to make sleeping comfortable. I see that this has been mentioned in several other comments. A curtain with lined drapes would be VERY useful. I ended up using a sleep mask because there wasn't a rod to hang anything up cover the window. A king sized bed would be wonderful and would fit if the extra chairs were taken out of the room. But the bed provided was comfortable and again, more than adequate for our needs. I would definitely stay here again. The location is great - close enough to drive to shops and restaurants but far enough away from the congestion of tourist traffic that it feels slower paced. There were two or three places to eat within walking distance and we had or were able to get anything we needed during our stay.

Great place to enjoy some quiet time. Pool was perfect for my workouts. The balcony was lovely (please throw out the rusted chairs, we stacked them and tried to ignore them.) The condo felt clean and safe and would have felt more comfortable if the tile work was completed in the bathroom and kitchen. Supplies were adequate except for no kitchen dish cloths and only two face wash cloths. I hope you find this helpful. Thank you for a memorable vacation, we had a great time!

Met all our expectations!
We really enjoyed this condo for a long weekend get-away! It's comfortable, clean, and a great location at the building! Our friends were staying in 5 other units at the building and said ours was the best! We drove on the beach one day to take all our stuff - access is just a block away! We made a few small meals in the condo, but the pizza and ice cream across the street were also enjoyed! We will definitely be back to Crescent Beach and this condo!

Pet friendly condo needs maintenance
Well, how to start. The pictures of the condo are awesome. Sadly they are outdated. The furniture in some rooms are different. Probably replaced over time but the pictures weren't updated. Secondly, the condo needs maintenance. There are many small issues that a condo owner needs to keep up on. The fridge handle was broken, mentioned many months ago by another guest. Never replaced. We bought superglue just to be able to tolerate opening and closing the fridge door on a daily basis...needs a new handle. The transition strip between the kitchen tile and the living area is gone and shows an open gap with accumulated dirt. In the bathroom, another transition strip is missing from the opening below the towel holder. Same deal...accumulated dirt. This is pointing out normal wear and tear maintenance that is not being taken care of. Again another guest mentioned the bright light outside the bedroom at night and we figured that a drapery would have been installed. Nope! We covered the window with a dark sheet at night. Although the views are amazing and the lack of mt didn't affect our stay, it certainly questioned the weekly price. We would stay here again if the condo is updated and repairs are made.

Fabulous location
Lots of wonderful things to say, but also some improvements necessary. The apartment is smaller than I imagined. Too many decorations and not enough drawers and shelves for our things. Too many towels, sheets, pots, pans and do-dads in apartment. Hangers suck and are too high. Lights in both fans don’t work. Not enough light - bulbs too dim. Boards for mattress should have been under mattress and not on the floor under bed. St Augustine is great, beach is fabulous. Loved dogs allowed. Thanks for the treats, but milk and or eggs or butter would have be a better choice. Will definitely return to town. All in all month was fun.

Beautiful view
Had a great visit. This property has all the amenities and is roomier than others in the same complex. Not fancy, but with a gorgeous view and easy beach access. Love that it’s dog friendly.

Good location but smelly
The property is obviously within a short walk of Crescent Beach and it has a heated pool. The condo itself is with dated appliances, the ceiling fan could not be turned off and was very noisy, the trim needed to be fixed, the beds were uncomfortable, and the apartment had a mildew smell. Overall, the condo was dirty. Fortunately, you only need to sleep there because you can do everything else outside.

If anything was not working properly or was not cleaned to your liking we would have taken care of it immediately! You just needed to call us with your concerns. Property was beautiful, very clean. The view from the balcony really nice. Restaurant across the road very good with really large portions, easily large enough to share.

enjoyed our stay, great location
A few cosmetic things could be done, flooring near cabinets and transition piece from tile to laminate was broken. Water pressure in shower wasn’t great, but overall it was a nice place to stay.

Beach Condo Review
Nice cozy condo for two people. Nice view of the beach from the patio. If one stays there and goes out every day and night, it is great. However, if you like to sit inside in the cold AC and binge watch TV the furniture is very uncomfortable. The cleaning and pet fee seems very high, especially since we had to vacuum the patio due to bugs when we arrived at 4 pm. However, I guess those fees are the going rate. We enjoyed the pool and the two AC units in the condo provided nice, cold air.

Location was great!View was incredible!Overall the complex is well tended.
Linens and kitchen towels need updating. Bedding including coverlet need to be a better quality. We did not know that the condo was available to pet owners so were surprised to have dog hairs all over our clothes after sitting on the couch. We did enjoy our stay.

In need of updating of furniture and kitchen utensils.
There were not enough towels for kitchen and bathroom. The air conditioner needed to be replaced while we were there and the humidifier leaked. The service that cleanse the condo did a poor job. Your mirrors and glass tables were left with of film on them. They did not vacuum well at all. A piece of the railing on the porch fell off also, the railing is dangerous The View was beautiful!! We enjoyed the beach, nice and quiet. I think the building in general needs a big upgrade.

Thanks for your review. We just want to clarify a few things...housekeeping was unable to finish cleaning because you entered the condo 3 hours early and after calling you twice to ask you to come back at check in time you wouldn't leave. The railing needed a screw and onsite maintenance repaired it promptly. We are sorry the a/c unit stopped working however it was replaced immediately. We are glad you enjoyed the condo's pretty views and the quiet beach!
