Near Amphitheatre, Historic Downtown, Beach Our Starfish Beach Retreat offers families amazing space and amenities to enjoy Saint Augustine. The six bedrooms allow everyone to have their own space with privacy, and the rest of the house has room enough for the entire family to enjoy themselves. The screened pool will be the total success to keep everyone happy and cool during your visit to Saint Augustine. Our home is located near downtown historic St. Augustine Florida, and just one minute drive to the beach. Most families enjoy their great location near everything that scenic Saint Augustine has to offer. The St. Augustine and St Johns County area have a great variety of golf courses for players of every level and skill. Saint Augustine beach, near where this house is located, is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the northeast of Florida. It’s an expansive white powder beach! You’ll find fisherman, bikers when the tide recedes, walkers, surfers, kite boarders, shell gatherers, and of course sun bathers! Nearby there are bicycles and beach toys for rent. Further south, 4 wheel drive vehicles are allowed on the beach. Saint Augustine city center, less than three miles north of the house, is the most ancient, gorgeous city in Florida...and America for that matter! It hosts restaurants, stunning historic churches, some of the finest art galleries and a myriad of chic boutique shops. The first Friday of every month features an Art Walk, where some galleries even serve refreshments and stay open in the evening. As you walk cobble stone streets you have opportunity to explore history all around you, often hearing church bells. You can sight see through horse and buggy or trolley tours, or just shop til you drop! You will want to return year after year! Pets and Service Animals: You must let us know if you are bringing an animal to the home, even if it is a service animal! It's important to let the cleaners know. Up to 2 dogs are allowed with a nonrefundable pet fee. They must be less than 50lbs each and no aggressive breeds. NO CATS! Please do not allow your dogs to jump up onto the beds or couches. If the dogs are accustomed to being allowed on the furniture at home, please bring blankets to protect the surfaces. If you forget to bring blankets, let us know and we will provide you with some. If you bring a pet and do not tell us or pay the fee, we will charge your damage deposit for the pet fee plus $100 for the unexpected extra services required to clean the house. The pool heater thermostat is set to a temperature between 78 and 85 degrees F, depending on the time of the year. If the daytime air temp doesn't get above 58 degrees the pool will have a difficult time staying heated. Our pool technician comes on Tuesdays to check the chemicals and Fridays to clean. Our lawn/landscape professional comes on Wednesdays. These dates are subject to change based on weather or other factors, but in general that is when they are scheduled. Bring extra blankets and pillows for the sofa bed. The cleaning company provides a limited amount of basic necessities (toilet paper, trash bags, dishwasher/laundry soap, etc.) to get you started, you will want to bring some with you. Garbage and recycling must be taken out to the street Sunday night for Monday morning pickup. Per St Johns County regulations, only ten people are allowed per rental, not counting children 12-years-old or younger. That means this property is allowed up to 10 adults and the rest of the guests must be 12 and under. If you have a large family and need a second location please inquire with the host about our other property that is nearby. We don't offer refunds or reschedule stays during hurricane season, even if there is an evacuation order. There’s a little something for everyone, and check in was easy! We highly recommend renting bikes and taking a stroll through Anastasia Beach park, crescent beach is approx a 15 min drive, easy beach access and free parking( on the days we visited) the children LOVED the pool at the home, and there is plenty of shopping/attractions near by! This getaway was just what we needed. The house is conveniently located, & very nice. Plenty of room. I wish our older children could have been there with us. Would have had plenty of space for everyone! The pool was so nice & relaxing after a day of running around in the Florida heat! The house was everything we hoped for and more! Very comfortable and the open floor plan was perfect for gathering with friends. The enclosed pool area was very relaxing. Perfect location between town and beach. I can’t begin to say enough great things about our host. They went above and beyond to make our stay here the best it could be. The property had some minor wear & tear in the main bathroom (visible water damage around the shower entrance). The toaster didn't work on it's own and a blender would've been nice to have on hand. Also there were only 4 pool lounge chairs ..a few more seatings would've been nice. We purchased two beach chairs to leave behind. The pool was wonderful and the Amphitheater down the street gave us 2 nights of free entertain that was a bonus. The owners recommendations for local eateries were a hit. This house was beyond perfect for us. Having king size beds in all rooms was absolutely amazing as most of us (accept my mother, 3 children and sister-in-law)are all between 6ft and 6'7". The pool was the highlight for my kids, definitely, and we adults enjoyed it as well. The temperature of the pool was perfect. The kitchen was nice and big and had plenty of pots and pans. A few more plates, bowls and plastic cups would be good. The location of the house was perfect. Close to downtown where we spent a lot of time and close to the other big attractions of St. Augustine. We did have trouble with the TV remotes working, but we think they just needed new batteries. Communication with the host was easy and prompt. The double ovens are nice, just small so I would suggest buying small tin pans to cook in. The table was the perfect size to fit our whole family around. The couches were comfortable. It was nice having a separate room with a TV that we could close the door and let the kids watch their TV shows. We would stay here again if we were ever in St. Augustine for the weekend again. I'll start with the good things: the pool was nice. We all loved the layout of it and the fact that there was a large side yard too. Every bedroom had ceiling fans and a king size bed. That's hard to find. Furniture was comfortable and the beds were too. But there were some things that should be mentioned. First the home needs repainted. It's dingy and apparent that it's been a bit neglected. Don't get me wrong - it was clean. But the paint is faded, dingy and long overdue for a refresh. The pool decking could use a good power washing and the birdcage needs it too. And while we are addressing the pool area - please consider adding additional chairs. 4 loungers and one chair don't work for a home that sleeps 10+. We also all commented that in 2023 we were surprised not to find TV's in the bedrooms. We did all appreciate stands on both sides of the beds, plenty of plugs and extension cords. Someone does need to work on the ice maker. It's not working right and the fridge wasn't real cold. Overall if I was going back to the area I would consider staying there again.
