"I was very disappointed with my stay at the Sonesta Select Tinton Falls. I paid $236 for one night in a room with two queen beds, in part because the hotel advertised amenities including a pool and an on-site bistro. Prior to arrival, I called to confirm these amenities and was informed that neither the pool nor the restaurant was open due to new ownership and licensing issues. These closures were not clearly disclosed when booking.
During that call, a staff member offered a discount on a future stay and complimentary breakfast as a courtesy. However, upon check-in, that promise was denied, despite the employee who made the offer being present at the front desk. The front desk staff were dismissive and unhelpful throughout my stay.
The condition of the room was also disappointing. There was visible water damage on the ceiling, the carpet appeared dirty, and there were significant cracks in the bathroom tile, giving the room a poorly maintained appearance.
The situation worsened when a strong marijuana odor filled our room during the night. I reported the issue to the front desk, but my concerns were met with indifference. The smell was so strong that I had to keep the windows open overnight, and it dissipated but returned in the a.m.. When I raised the issue again at checkout, no meaningful resolution was offered.
Overall, the hotel advertised amenities that were unavailable, customer service was poor, the room was not well maintained, and strong odor of THC"
