I rode in the back of a jeep, 1.5 hours up winding mountain roads from Kaza, to get to this tiny village that gets snowed in for 6 months in winter. When I visited in the fall, everyone was out in their fields and greenhouses, tending to their crops, getting the fields ready for harvest and collecting grass for the cattle in winter. When the bus dropped me in the mid of no where and the driver said that it was Dhankar, I was hoping that I had reached there but I was quite wrong. I could see nothing but just a board reading that Dhankar monestry was still 8 odd kilometeres from that point and that's too at a good altitude. No means of transport were available there. So hiking was the only option. . Though initially I thought hiking eight kms should not be that difficult for me but very soon I had realized that I was wrong again. . Actually, there were two ways to hike from there. One was the main road and second was through the mid of hills and I decided to climb the hills which was certainly more challenging. Initially, it was fun and I was enjoying it but soon cold and high altitude started making it quite difficult. . My breathes became heavier all of sudden and I could feel the sudden change in altitude. And by that time, the Sun was also coming down. At that point, I was really hoping for some car or vehicle to pass by so that I could ask for some help but forget about vehicle, I was not able to see not even a single life there. .
