Acadia Yurts offers visitors the most unique way to stay on Mount Desert Island. Seven fun, eco-friendly Yurts and two Tiny Houses will bring you as close to nature as camping, with all the amenities of home. Located on 5 acres of lovely wooded land, surrounded by Acadia National Park property, Acadia Yurts offer a peaceful retreat for your group (up to 4 guests per 24' Yurt, 6 guests for the 30' Yurt or 2 guests per Tiny House). Acadia Yurts is also ideal for large groups traveling with accommodations for up to 34 people on 1 site.

In addition to yurt or tiny house living, the Wellness Center at Acadia Yurts offers on-site yoga, an infrared sauna and a flotation tank, all available for extra charge. Prices available upon request.

A yurt is a tent-like circular fabric structure with a wood lattice frame that originated among the nomadic tribes in Asia. These permanent, colorful structures have thick canvas exterior walls that include reflective insulation and a high efficiency heat pump/AC unit so you can be comfortable during any season. Yurts are quickly becoming a new vacation experience that vacationers are enjoying throughout the US from cliff side views in California to ski lodges in Colorado. This is a memorable place to stay while enjoying the beauty of Acadia!

We had a beautiful autumn stay for my daughter‘s senior trip. The Acadia Yurts were immaculate, comfortable, cozy and peaceful. Karen and Aaron are delightful hosts and their services are very well valued.

What a Gem! The yurt was great, comfortable and relaxing. We stayed here for our 20 year anniversary. Had all our needs met and the owner communication was great and quick! I do however have to say this and I am not sure anything can be done about it. There were many spiders I had to kill in our stay. I know we're in the woods and It might be hard to control the pest situation but it was alittle unnerving with the amount of spiders we had to kill.With that said I would still choose to stay here again.

The best managed property I have ever stayed at. Superb communication with Aaron and Karen. We cooked in every night and the kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. The pots and pans and dishes and glassware were high quality and the kitchen was spotless.
A delightful spot to enjoy a cappuccino and a bowl of oatmeal!
What a wonderful feeling to walk into the Yurt. It was spacious, well appointed and so clean!

Beautiful, quiet forest retreat

We loved Acadia Yurts! Our yurt was clean and well-stocked. We were able to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. It was great being so close to the park, as we spent our days hiking. Would recommend to anyone looking for a quiet, unique place to stay!

Just Book It!

This was hands down one of the best vacations we’ve ever had! The views were absolutely stunning, and staying in the Yurt added such a unique and cozy touch to the entire experience. It’s perfectly located—close to everything we wanted to do, yet tucked away enough to feel peaceful and secluded from the hustle and bustle. The hosts were phenomenal—friendly, thoughtful, and incredibly easy to communicate with. We can’t recommend this stay enough and would return in a heartbeat!

Excellent Retreat

Wonderful stay on the quiet side of MDI. Enjoyed Acadia and relaxing in the yurt after active days outside. Highly recommend, plan to visit again!

Fantastic property!

Great experience at Acadia Yurt. The yurt itself was very clean and well-appointed with a full kitchen. Lots of space and extra amenities including an on-property washer/dryer. Close to town and easy access to the island as well as Acadia National Park.

Little Yurt in the Big Woods

What a charming, cute, comfortable place!! We loved our stay near beautiful Acadia National Park in this cozy and unique setting and would absolutely come again. Quiet and pretty, offered everything we needed, and the hosts were so nice!

Acadia Yurts Maine Getaway

We loved staying at Acadia Yurts. Close proximity to many great restaurants and not too far of a drive to the national park or Bar Harbor, a little over 20 minutes. Property owners are very engaging, helpful and great at communicating with guests. The yurt has everything you could need, clean and comfortable. Situated in and around nature. A beautiful location, we would definitely return in the future.

Truly Awesome

We are NOT camping people. This property was so wonderful that we got the full benefits of camping, while still retaining all the comforts of home. We actually used the word “home” a lot told refer to our yurt. The other thing we kept noting throughout our stay was how “thoughtful” every detail was. This place is high quality and truly awesome.

Birthday trip

We stayed at Acadia Yurts, celebrating my 61st Birthday. We were greeted with a celebratory Birthday sign and bubbles. Loved that extra, personal touch. The Yurt had everything we needed and more! It was so cozy, clean and comfortable! The location was perfect to explore Acadia. The owners were very responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. Definitely will be staying again. Highly recommend.

Highly Recommend

We loved staying at the yurts. It is a great location. We loved that it was on the quieter side of the island as last time we stayed right in Bar Harbor. We enjoyed our evening cooking out on the grill and drinking wine after long days of adventures biking and hiking! We also recommend the float tank and the infrared sauna. They were so relaxing and the ease of scheduling was a plus.

Wonderful experience

We go to Acadia every 5 or so years. It’s beautiful. This stay was by far our most unique. We had a group of multiple families and it was absolutely perfect. The yurts are comfortable, well stocked, and clean. The grounds are lovely. The owners were easy to reach and communication was excellent. I keep telling friends and family to consider this the next time they go to Acadia.

More than expected!

I gratefully came upon the Acadia Yurts on VRBO. Right away I fell in love -- seeing it in person was even more wonderful! It is in a comfy, cozy wooded area that provides a comfy, cozy stay. Karen & Aaron are wonderful hosts and their love and passion for this yurt village they have built definitely shows! I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Acadia Yurts!!!!

A unique and wonderful experience!

We liked how generously the yurts were spaced in their woodland setting and the way the owners, Karen and Aaron, took good care to maintain the quiet. Our yurt was roomy, aesthetically beautiful inside, and very thoughtfully provided with everything needed. All was clean and in good working order -- e.g., the shower was hot and strong, the bed was really comfortable, the water tasted sweet and good, the kitchen had all the right utensils, the internet worked, and there were nice places to sit. My husband and I stayed in early June, during warm and also wet cool weather, and the climate control systems (heating, cooling and dehumidifying) inside the yurt were excellent. Additionally, the screened windows could be opened for fresh air. Our yurt was its own little wellness center -- an oasis of nurture after our days of activity in Acadia National Park.

Seriously Perfect!

Our family’s trip to explore Acadia was incredible and staying at Acadia Yurts was the most perfect way to do it! We’re a family of 4, including 2 teenage boys, but the yurt was plenty big for us. Yes, the kids shared the pull-out couch, but they didn’t complain about it (only about each other). The WiFi kept everyone happy as we wound down from our days of hiking. We did not miss having a tv at all. We had brought a camping fan, but never needed it- the temperature was always comfortable (even in July)! It was a beautiful, peaceful, wooded area and while we had neighbors in other yurts, they weren’t close enough to see, hear, or to be bothersome. While there are many attractions on the eastern side of the island, the quiet side was much more fitting for us. Less than a half hour drive to the touristy spots in Bar Harbor and only 5 minutes from Southwest Harbor’s shops, restaurants, grocery store, mini-golf, and more. Aaron and Karen were always prompt and friendly with communication and they have an amazing little oasis set up for visitors to enjoy! You will not be disappointed staying there!

Magical and Cozy!

I just returned home from a week-long stay at Acadia Yurts and it was magical. It has been on my bucket list for years to both visit Acadia National Park and to stay in a yurt for the first time, so it was absolutely perfect! Got to tick both things off! The yurts are spacious, clean, cozy and well-maintained with everything you could need and more! A fully-equipped kitchen, bathroom, steaming hot shower, super comfy queen bed, Wi-Fi, and a heat pump providing both heat and AC. Not a single detail overlooked. The thoughtful attention to detail that went into designing the yurts brought an extra layer of warmth and comfort. The location on the quiet side of the island was perfect. Only a 20-30 min drive from Acadia and Bar Harbor and everything I wanted to see and do. The best part was returning home each night after a full day of exploring Acadia because the adventure didn’t stop there! The adventure continues because the yurts are such a fun, cool, unique and almost otherworldly place to stay! All the magic of a little house nestled in the woods! Aaron and Karen were fantastic hosts! Literally the nicest people ever! I was so glad I had the chance to chat with them and get to know them a bit. They live right next door and are always happy to help if you ever should need anything or answer any questions you might have. They’ll always go above and beyond to make you feel at home and make sure you get the full experience! Would recommend to absolutely anyone!
