Sail Mountain Cottage

Sail Mountain Cottage is a delightful, cozy cottage nestled in a private wooded setting close to plenty of outdoor activities. A spacious, sunny deck creates a wonderful spot for relaxing. Acadia National Park trails and mountains and a golf course are within easy walking distance. Area lakes and the town of Southwest Harbor are just minutes away by car. Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park's Park Loop Road are 20 minutes away. The perfect spot to enjoy your Mount Desert Island vacation. Saturday to Saturday booking required. 3 bedrooms with, king bed, double bed, and 2 twin beds. Well equipped cottage with outdoor seating for dining and gas grill.

A calm spot in the woods!!

We had a really nice and relaxing stay at Sail Mountain Cottage in late August 2023. It is very convenient to SW Harbor with lots of nice restaurant options, but with less of the 'overload' bustle of Bar Harbor. The house was comfortable and very clean, it was a great home base for our vacation!

4 friends in Acadia

We met up with old friends we hadn’t seen in 20 years to explore Acadia. Sail Mountain Cottage was a perfect place for us to stay. Very clean, quiet and convenient. Would highly recommend!

Excellent location, clean and comfortable

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this Southwest Harbor location. You can walk to several hiking trails from the cottage. While the cottage is tucked away off of the main road and felt very private, it was very convenient to the town and many of the NPS locations located on the quiet side. The cabin itself was very clean and well equipped. Many thanks to the wonderful hosts Ingrid and John!

Hikers Paradise

Great quiet location within a short drive or bus ride to trails, shopping and restaurants! Well appointed house with comfortable beds and plenty of hot water for our family of four! We enjoyed bbq’n on the deck. Perfect for our needs! 🙂👍

Saul Mountain Cottage

We enjoyed our first trip to Acadia! Sail Mountain Cottage was just what our family needed. Very comfortable, very clean and well located to Acadia points of interest, as well as restaurants and recreation for our family (golf and running routes). Highly recommend!

Southwest Harbor

Close to town, walking distance to Flying Mountain and Valley Cove which both have great views of the sound. Also can walk to the Causeway Club to play golf and down to the Mill Dam to watch the tide roll and hunt for sea life in the tide pools. House was clean and just big enough to hold four of us. Perfect for those who don’t plan to be in their rental for more then some sleep and rather out hitting the trails and finding some good fresh seafood.

The house was very clean and very quiet. The beds were very comfortable and the linens were great. The few questions I had were answered right away. We would stay here again.

Lovely vacation

We enjoyed this spacious rental. Close to the great hiking trails in and around Acadia. We went kayaking on Long Pond twice and it was good to be so close. Also surprised that there was some swimming at the north end of Long Pond which was a nice surprise. Loved Thurston’s Lobster Pound. Stopped at Beal’s but it seems everyone else did too that day so we didn’t stay. Great vacation!

Restful Week

After not being able to travel for over a year, it was lovely to be able to enjoy the surroundings and amenities of Sail Mountain Cottage, but also the beauty of Acadia.

Quiet area for Acadia vacation

We loved staying at this cute cottage nestled in the woods on a quiet road. Plenty of areas to walk around even riding bikes for the kids! Walking distance to flying Mountain Trail which was one of our favorites. The host was super helpful and very quick to respond to messages or request. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Acadia. It was nice staying away from the hustle and bustle of Bar Harbor but still close enough to go back multiple times in a day if needed or wanted. Lots to do nearby and yummy restaurants also! Thanks for a great cottage!

Great location and property!

We are a family of 5 who really enjoyed our stay at Sail Mountain cottage. The cottage had everything that we needed and was in a private area. We loved being able to walk to Flying Mountain from the cottage, as well as other hikes in that area. It was so convenient for going into Acadia as well as very close to Echo Beach, which was a great swimming area. The owner, Ingrid, was quick to help us out with any issues. We would definitely stay here again!
