Really loved Hotel Grimsborgir! We stayed for 4 nights. The location is excellent - about an hour from Reykjavik and really easy to drive to. Lots of parking. Updated decoration throughout and very spacious rooms. Access to the hot tubs was great. The breakfast was varied and very tasty. We ate in the restaurant once and were very satisfied with the meal and with the service. Staff were very polite and knowledgeable. And they called to let us know the Northern Lights were visible!

The staff was very friendly and helpful. They even watch for the aurora and if it’s active will give you a wake up call. We were able to see them clearly from our patio. The room was nice and clean and had a great bathroom which was not the case at our other accommodations. The room did get warm but can open window. The breakfast was good and had a lot of options. We would stay here again.

the room and staff were great. breakfast buffet was very good, although the choices were identical for 7 mornings in a row. dinners at the restaurant were really good, although they stop taking orders at 9p, which did not work out with our schedule on two of the nights (I wish would stay open later, even if only had a limited menu). the bar charges are exorbitant -- scotch whiskey was 3300 ISK per serving, so a double whiskey (minimum sized pour) is 6600 ISK or $54.42 USD !! (even our Icelandic guest was shocked). overall, we had a great time there and would definitely return.

Exceptional clean room and amazing breakfast buffet. Centrally located in Golden Circle area and just a few miles to Selfoss for gas and groceries. Just a note not much choice for dinner in the area but the hotel serves dinner for addtl fee. Hamburger was very good but I was more pleased with the breakfast. Good internet and the room was very spacious.

Very lovely hotel with great location. It is set up with little buildings spread around the main building which houses the reception and the main dining area. Don't unload your luggage when you check in, as you can park outside you designated building.

Our first room had terrible smell so we moved to another one. Second room was better but the bathroom ceiling, over the shower, had lots of mold. Everything else was fine. Dinner and breakfast were good and great trails nearby for an early morning run.

Delightful place with a superb breakfast, and quiet rooms. If you've just stepped off a long flight, the hot tubs are a g-d-send. They provide robes and slippers, and soaking in the water with the cold air swirling, as the evening (seemingly endless) light fades...well, it's magic. Or, damn close. Thank you, Hotel Grimsborgir:)

We loved this hotel. The decor, rooms, etc seemed quite new. The room was big enough and the shower had a tub which we haven’t had yet in Iceland. Each building has two hot tubs for using at night. That was a nice touch. The breakfast was included and had all the things. Delicious!! I had the Char at dinner both nights. It was beyond amazing. Highly recommend this hotel!!
