This lake house has over 500 feet of shoreline on a unique 1.5 acre peninsula lot with spectacular lake views from three sides of the home! You can rest assured your boat will be protected from rain and wake chop. Main level great room has 10 chair dining table convenient with kitchen and large deck overlooking lake. The kitchen has stainless steel refrigerator (with 2 ice makers) and granite counter tops plus a commercial ice maker in the pantry. Great room has flat screen TV with blue tooth enabled sound bar, blue ray player and Amazon Firestick with Youtube TV and Netflix. The deck spans the width of the home and has a drop down section designed to lower the hand rail allowing awesome views of the lake from the upper deck and inside the home. The deck also has a Weber gas grill (connected to house gas line), Weber charcoal grill and 5 person dining table with umbrella.

The home is on a secluded 1.5 acre lot. There is a gently sloping stone walkway from house to the covered double boathouse with one covered slip and boat lift for renter, sundeck, 2 jet ski lifts (one for renter), canoe, 2 kayaks, 4 stand up paddle boards and a peddle boat for renter. There is also space for a guest boat which is uncovered. The concrete parking lot has a basketball hoop and ping pong table (balls and paddles provided).

The Great Escape is located on Great Creek in the northwest quadrant of Lake Gaston. The home is a 10 minute drive from I-85. Great winery and golf only a few miles away.

Checkin time is 4:00 PM and checkout 11:00 AM EST. Pets are considered, $150 per pet, must be crated trained and have flea/tick applied 30 days prior to stay. No smoking in home or screened in porch. Max occupancy is 19. Parties over 19 people are not allowed due to septic system and parking limits. Primary renter must be over 25 years old.

Pillows, blankets and comforters are provided. Sheets and bath towels can be rented for $200.

What is the water skiing like in Great Creek? The creek is protected from the main lake by a no wake zone and box culvert. That keeps many of the main lake yahoos out of our "private" creek. With 1.5 mile run, it makes a perfect spot for slalom skiing and wakeboarding. It's not uncommon to see some barefooting and great slalom skiing in the mornings. The jet skis and tubes generally don't come out until 11:00 AM.

How is the fishing in Great Creek? The fishing is pretty good right from the dock at the home. Bream (Blue Gill) and catfish are easy to catch from the dock. We also have large mouth bass all around the docks in the creek. There are many bass tournaments that run out of the nearby Holly Grove Marina and many of the fishermen tell me our cove is as good as any at holding large mouth "keepers". The main lake offers a variety of good fishing spots including large grass fields as you head up into the river where striped bass are found.

How is the boat traffic in Great Creek? During the week it is generally good throughout the day. The weekends in the summer can get busy in the creek between 11:00 AM and 5:00 PM. When it gets too much boat traffic to ski or wakeboard, you can get into calm water in the river in about 20 minutes. Going out of Great Creek and heading north, you enter the river portion of Lake Gaston. The river offers miles of calm water, straight runs and deep water (26 feet). Since the water comes from the bottom of Kerr Lake, the water is cool which is refreshing in the heat of the summer. Deep, cool water as calm as butter is awesome for skiing and boarding.

Lake Gaston is one of the truly superior lakes in the country, located in the piedmont area of northern NC and southern VA. It covers 20,300 acres, 34 miles long, and has over 350 miles of shoreline. The lake has very little water level fluctuation year round and has the highest water-quality rating in eastern USA (NC Stream Sanitation Commission, A2 rating). Lake Gaston is well stocked with game fish including striped and largemouth bass, walleye, bream, crappie, sunfish, perch and several varieties of catfish. Lake Gaston has an average depth of 40+ feet (~80+ ft. deep near eastern end at dam).

      Mother’s Day Family Retreat
Our family of four generations enjoyed a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend at The Great Escape. It is a lovely property, well maintained and with plenty of fun activities for any age. The views are amazing from most any room in the home. I love that the owners pay great attention to detail and ensure that guests have access to everything needed during the stay and has provided meticulous notes to assist with a stress free visit! My niece, a local TV anchor, enjoyed the visit enough to mention how wonderful our visit to Lake Gaston was during her news broadcast! Truly a splendid family trip!

      Third time, always amazing!
We are so lucky to have been able to stay at this beautiful place for a third time. The space is gorgeous - lots of areas to spread out and enjoy nature. We loved paddle boarding and kayaking - the sunsets cannot be beat. The kitchen has literally everything you could ever imagine needing and is very easy to work in. The standalone ice maker is the absolute best thing! Having the choice of water sports, corn hole, basketball, ping pong, etc made sure no one was ever bored! Having the lovely Rosemount Vineyard so close by is such a bonus. Communication with the very responsive hosts is always a pleasure. Stay here only if you want to have a perfect, wonderful time!

      The Great Escape is great!
Our party of 6 adults absolutely loved this place. We found everything that we needed plus much, much more. You won't run out of things to do here and you can't help but admire the wonderful decorating in the house and incredible landscaping on the property. The view and location are great and we thoroughly enjoyed the firepit by the water in the evening, and fishing from the dock during the day. We were very happy that we chose this place for our get together.

      Beautiful Property on the Lake
We planned a family gathering at this property for Christmas. We had 7 older children and 9 adults. Despite the weather being colder, we still had a wonderful time! We were able to take the paddle boat out, fish, and go on walks to explore the neighborhood with our dogs. It was an amazing experience!

      Perfect in every way.
Some friends and family wanted a quick get away and I'm so glad we selected this house! I can't say enough great things about it - inside and out it is perfect. The landscaping is beautiful, all the outdoor spaces are well planned and accessible - and we used them all! It was nice to have a choice of a gas firepit or a wood fire! We used both. The boat house is great with the second level deck. That fact that the home is situated on a peninsula makes it very private and secluded. The house inside is very well stocked and has everything you need for a couple of nights or a whole week. The beds are comfortable, it was clean, the screen porch is wonderful and the home is very spacious. We didn't have any kids but it would be GREAT for family with a bunch of kids. Teresa was very responsive and is a great host. We will be back!

      Nice Spot
A great vacation home with nice amenities! My family an I enjoyed our stay here. The owners were very responsive when we needed to reach out. It was a nice plus for there to be two refrigerators plus an extra ice maker. The large pantry made it easy for us to store all of our food. There is a wood burning fire pit plus a gas one; we utilized both. The large deck made for a great space to play corn hole. We would come back for another stay.
