Overall a beautiful house and property. The weather was not great so we were not able to be outdoors much. The water heater stopped working and the owner worked hard to fix it promptly.

Perfect stay in Sonoma
This house is perfect for anyone wanting to get away and enjoy all Sonoma has to offer. The property is stunning, well manicured lawns, flowers and veggie garden plus lots of outdoor places to sit under the oaks or by the beautiful pool. The newly remodeled kitchen is a cooks and entertaining dream. It’s all very well appointed with anything you need to make a meal and relax with friends. There were special touches like fresh flowers and dog bowls for my pup. The house was spotless and had wonderful, cozy beds, towels and everything you need for your stay. I enjoyed the hot tub off the master bedroom several evenings with a glass of wine under the stars. I would highly recommend staying in this beautiful home tucked away in a quiet and walkable neighborhood, close to the town square and jog/dog paths. I will be renting again soon.

A home, not just a property
We were a group of 6 (4 adults, 2 teenagers) visiting Sonoma for a week and we really enjoyed our stay at the property. As others have noted, there is plenty of room, both inside and outside the house. We cooked multiple times and found the kitchen to be really well equipped. We visited during a cold spell, but we were able to find extra blankets (and the Nest thermostat kept the temperature at a comfortable level). There were even food and water bowls for our dog! Overall, this felt like a cozy and comfortable home, rather than a bland rental property. The location - on a quiet residential street, near a high school and a walking trail - was ideal for us, allowing the kids to kick a ball around on the high school fields and the adults to take dog walks. It was convenient to get to the plaza, without being too close. Finally, the check-in process was easy and communication with the owner and property manager was simple. The owner even encouraged us to pick some lemons from the tree in the back before we left. Hopefully, we'll be back some time in the near future!

Perfect for our stay in Sonoma
The property was accurately advertised. We were very comfortable, my husband and I with our daughter and son-in-law. A few minor issues on arrival were addressed promptly by the owner. Great communication and the location was perfect! The grounds were lovely but since it was cold, we weren't able to take advantage of it but in nice weather, that is a great asset for this property.

Perfect stay for the whole family!
Our family and four year old had a great time here! The location is great, walking distance to a park and Train Town, and even some friendly sheep down the street. The house and yard are very comfortable and spacious, very well-stocked with supplies. The hot tub was a fantastic feature, and we also appreciated being able to borrow the bikes for neighborhood bike rides.

Fantastic Sonoma Trip
This property surprised us by the size of the actual property itself. Lots of room for the four of us so we could separate as needed. Overall location was ideal for visiting Sonoma square. We very much enjoyed the property and the one issue we had during entrance to the property was responded to quickly and no other issues after that. I would recommend this property to anyone who wanted a quiet yet convenient place to stay during a Sonoma/Napa trip.

Great for families
My family with two kids (7 and 4) and my parents had a great time. Kids loved the pool and the space to play. Everyone loved the cherries and other fruit trees on the property. Location was fantastic - just a short distance to Sonoma square with plenty of parks in the area at which the kids could play.

Inviting and central
We recently stayed as part of a staycation with 2 grandparents, and our two young kids and the house was perfect. There are many cozy nooks to read and play, and still be together. The kitchen is well equipped, and the downstairs master suite is especially nice, and the grounds are lovely. Our kids really enjoyed the outdoor swings. Process and communication wise, it was very straight forward and easy. I even received a nice note from Stacey the day before welcoming me, which I appreciated. And when I texted with a question, the house manager showed up in less than 5 minutes to help me out. (Turns out the answer was in the house manual all along.) We had a great stay and look forward to being back in the summer to enjoy the pool and patio more!

Cozy and charming
This home is awesome. In the heart of Sonoma, the location is outstanding. It has that "lived in feel" and is was perfectly situated for our party of six. It was an unusually rainy and wet weekend, and the gas fireplace and cozy setting furnishings were just what we needed. Stacey was very responsive and great to communicate with. We'll hopefully be back soon!

Fabulous Summer Getaway
This home is a lovely getaway in Sonoma. Upon arrival, we immediately felt as if we lived here. It is a short walk to the wonderful town of Sonoma with great markets, shops and restaurants. At the same time, the home and property were quite secluded and we had all the privacy we could have wanted. The homeowner and the property manager were extremely kind and welcoming and their efforts made us feel welcome right away. I only have one tiny comment that is not positive and that would be that the photos make the property look slightly bigger than it is - so that our expectations were a little bit off. There was still plenty of space for us to have time on our own if we wanted it and time to gether together when we wanted that. Thank you!! We will definitely try to vacation here again.

Great property! The photos didn’t do it justice. Wonderfully gardened....and a fantastic Palm tree underneath the outdoor patio dining area. The outdoor Swing is fun, and the house was comfortable, and clean. Great location super close to the square in Sonoma...5 min bike ride. Highly recommend!

Amazing property
This was our second time renting this house and we loved it just as much this time as the last time. The grounds are truly spectacular and it is very private, while also being very conveniently located to the main square in Sonoma. The pool and hot tub are wonderful and we spent many hours with our kids enjoying the tranquility of the backyard. We also used the bikes at the house to head into the square. The kitchen is very well equipped with all of the items to cook meals. We love this house and will definitely be back.

Lovely home in a lovely location with lovely hosts.
Stacey and her family are wonderful hosts who communicate rapidly and efficiently. I had questions and Stacey answered them all thoroughly without making me seem a burden. We were a multi generation family including our 8 month grandchild and the house couldn't be more perfect from a private master suite on the first floor with a closet big enough for the pack and play to allow for quiet naptime to numerous areas in and outside the house for games, quiet conversation, sunning or pool play. Kitchen is equipped with a Bosch dishwasher, great gas range, full supply of quality dishware. Nearby is a full bath, pet area including dog door as well as a top of the line laundry set. The trampoline is away from the back yard so would require supervision but our 20 something visitors loved it for a few minutes before tuckering out. Stroller walks each morning to Sonoma Plaza as well as bike rides on the provided bikes and some great meals out were only a few highlights. Within minutes we were at Gloria Ferrer, Jacuzzi, Viansa and even ventured out to Copola Vineyard and a day in Healdsburg. Don't miss Fremont Diner and Vineburg Deli also nearby. Ice cream in the square is a nice reason for a walk. We never even used the den, dining room or living room because the outdoors was so inviting. Slow mornings began around the breakfast table or lounge chairs just outside the door. Late risers were not disturbed as the house seems to be well sound insulated. Evenings were spent again outside around the dining table drinking much wine and connecting with family. There was never a time we said " I wish we had ..." or " Too bad we couldn't ..." Anything you needed seemed to be there. Including apples on the trees and basil in the garden! Front yard is huge with a quiet sitting area with beautiful weathered teak chairs and a rug under the trees. A hammock is nearby where we have a tender picture of new dad and baby to forever remember this time together. A few swings, one under the porch and one near the hammock, are great entertainment for older children. There was also a large side area where the dog was happy to chase a ball or smell animal holes. Landscaping crew arrived on our last day to make the grounds even more perfect. I know everyone submits glowing reviews but this time it is fully warranted as I can't think of a single negative thing I could mention. I can not wait to book again and our east coast visitors also felt great recommending the home too.

We were a group of four friends gathering in wine country for a long weekend, and this house worked for us. The grounds are exceptional, and the photos don't do it justice. It must be a double lot, there is so much yard, beautifully landscaped and with roses in bloom when we visited. There are so many adorable outdoor seating areas we had to try to use them all! We had chosen the house in part because of the pool, so we were disappointed to be told the day before our visit (and only after asking specifically) that there would be an $800 (!!!) upcharge to heat the pool. So know that upfront if you are looking at the pictures of the very inviting pool. We did make use of the hot tub on chilly nights. The interior is nice, with newly upgraded bathrooms. We didn't cook much because there are so many great places to eat, but the kitchen seemed to have everything we needed. The caretaker did pop by unannounced once, which gave us a little scare, but he was perfectly nice. One word about location if you're not very familiar with Sonoma -- you're just a bit too far from the main square to walk to the restaurants there, which was a drag after a long day of wine-drinking. And cab drivers seemed to have a nearly impossible time finding us at this address.

Thank you for your kind words about the house and grounds. I try to be crystal clear to my guests about the pool really only being in use from June - September. Northern California chilly nights drop temperatures to the 40s, the pool will really stay warm only from June - September. To heat the pool, it is an excess of $800/month during the cold months. I did however, offer to heat it for an additional $200 (we would have absorbed the excess cost). Your group declined the surcharge. The pool was 84 degrees when your group checked in. I will however, try to be clearer in the copy so that future guests know what to expect. Our home is on over an acre of land, so about one mile from the square. There are virtually no homes available to rent right in town due to city ordinances, but I will again remind people that while it's a long walk dressed for dinner, it's a short walk into town to enjoy. Vern's Taxi is for sure familiar with where our home is located. Thanks for the feedback!

Beautiful home in gorgeous Sonoma
We were a group of 6 ladies visiting Sonoma for a fun weekend in wine country. We all loved Poplar Cottage and would highly it for a vacation home away from home! Absolutely amazing!! A privilege to have stayed here!!
Stacey maintained contact at all times to make sure we were totally taken care of. Wonderful host!! It was the most well stocked up property I ever rented . The tissue boxes in every room and ample pool and bath towels are just a great touch. The calm and beauty of this house has to be experienced in person. It is such a lovely property that I did not want to leave it at all. The hot tub is immaculately kept and nothing short of stunning when the sun shines on it most of the day. The trees surrounding the property give it the most wonderful feeling and it truly becomes a cottage in the middle of town. It is very close to downtown Sonoma . The kitchen has every and any pot or pan or appliance you would need to prepare any kind of meal. The personal touches make this house so lovable and livable that we didn't really want to leave . My kids didn't want to leave at all and were on the swing in the garden. There was even a trampoline for them and us to have fun. I feel privileged to have experienced this property and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you Stacey for making our trip to my friends wedding a very memorable one all thanks to you and the lovely property of yours.

Beautiful home, great location, everything we needed!
We had a wonderful 3 night stay at poplar cottage. We were seven women reconnecting for a long weekend in Sonoma. The house was the perfect accommodation for our stay. There were plenty of beds, a well stocked kitchen, three bathrooms, hair dryers, and even a lemon tree in the yard for fresh lemonade. We couldn't have asked for anything else. We enjoyed the beautiful and very large yard with fresh fruit and herbs, a hot tub, lovely places to sit in the sun and outdoor eating. Thank you Stacey for being a great host. You were so easy to get in touch with and answered all of our questions promptly. Truly a spectacular place to stay. We will be back !

Sonoma retreat close to the plaza.
In Sonoma for a birthday celebration, and wanted some space for friends and family on vacation. Had more space then we needed and a really quick walk from our friends house and 20 mins walk to the plaza. The pool was a little cold for October but the hot tub made up for that. The back and front yards were big with plenty of areas for enjoying the Californian sunshine. 3 good size bedrooms with 2 full bathrooms and an extra bathroom near the pool. Wifi was a little patchy but we just moved between two routers and was fine for our needs. The snug was a little small for all of us to watch tv together but it was fun. Kitchen is very well equipped and had everything we needed. We did have a problem and our call was answered very quickly, couldn't really fault Stacey's attitude to fix it as soon as possible. Lots of outside and inside space, beautifully furnished. The pictures don't really do the house justice. I would defiantly rent this house again, I don't really think a week was long enough.

Nice home - few issues
The home was very nice, but there were things that could have been better. The yard is beautiful and had a lot of seating areas, but the seating areas looked like they had not been cleaned for our arrival. The parking area is very dark and secluded. We arrived after dark and the outside lights were not on. We had a gas cap stolen the first night, so you might want to remove it at night when you settle in. The only reason I know it happened at the house is because the sensor came on when we started the vehicle the very next morning. There are no curtains or shades on the windows and there were concerns by all of us as to outsiders being able to see into the house. There is a privacy fence, but I did not find where you could lock the gates. Otherwise, we had a great time and enjoyed our stay.

I’m sorry the outdoor chairs were not as neat as they could have been. It is very difficult in the fall to keep up with the leaves in the season, but will have my cleaning team take a better look. I will suggest in my arrival letter to use a smart phone or car lights for a flashlight as it can be quite dark, but the front is not secluded. We are in a safe, crime-free neighborhood where neighbors look out for one another. I don’t think any of our future guests should worry about their passenger van gas caps being stolen. Nothing like that has EVER happened in our area. To clarify, the bedrooms all have privacy window shades and the living room is kept without shades for best light. The windows of the living room cannot be seen by anyone from the street as there are large trees and fencing around the property. Our home is safe and secure and if someone is particularly fearful, it can be alarmed when you are home or away.

Wonderful stay during the third week of August 2016. The homeowner, Stacey, was wonderful and very helpful throughout the process. The photos truly don't do this home justice. We spent 5 amazing days vacationing here with 4 adults and found the home very clean, stylish, spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was well stocked and ample cooking supplies are on hand to eat-in. The bikes were a great plus and provided an easy mode of transportation to wineries close by, or shops and restaurants on the square just a short ride away. The pool and hot tub were amazing as well. Will definitely stay here again, this is not to be missed!

Beautiful Sonoma Cottage
We had a wonderful time at Poplar Cottage. This is a real family home and we appreciated the space, the fully equipped kitchen, laundry and BBQ. The gardens at this property are stunning and there are many areas to tuck yourself away with a glass of wine and a book. Our 5 and 7 year old daughters also loved it and swam in the beautiful big pool, jumped on the trampoline and swung on the swings every day. The cottage is located in a quiet part of Sonoma and is convenient for going into town. Thank you for making our week in Sonoma so fantastic!

Wonderful Weekend
We recently stayed in this property in the Poplar trees and we could not have been more pleased with the accommodations and the communication we had with Stacey leading up to the trip. The house is beautiful, the trees are spectacular and the hot tub was a bonus! We were there for a weekend for a wedding and we had brought our 7.5 month old with us for our first weekend away and our mother in law. The house was laid out perfectly where we could put our son to sleep in the master bedroom and we could then be in the kitchen and other part of the house without worrying about waking him up. There was tons of space and the house had everything we needed. Thank you for making our weekend away and my first mother's day a hit.

Simply Incredible!
Spent 4 wonderful days on this gorgeous property with 6 of my closest girlfriends! Tons of room for everyone to spread out and we felt so at home. Very close to town by bike/walk or Vern's taxi- which we used daily and adored their drivers!! Stacey is an awesome communicator and gave us great local tips to help us navigate Sonoma! Highly Recommended!
We stayed at this beautiful cottage for a girls' trip in early March. The pictures do not do this house justice! The grounds are impeccably kept. The house was charming but spacious at the same time (if that makes sense). A tall wooden fence surrounds the entire property, so it felt extremely private and safe. The beds were sooo comfortable. First 2 nights, I slept in the master bed and slept like a baby! The third night I slept in one of the twin beds upstairs, and had the same experience. (soft sheets, plenty of blankets, comfortable mattresses, plenty of pillow options, quiet neighborhood). The house was perfect for us! Comfortably large enough for 5 women to sleep, and plenty of bathrooms that we weren't climbing over each other to get ready (tons of counter space for all of our girly toiletries). Showers all updated with great water pressure and very clean. It was pouring rain for most of the weekend, so the pool was closed, but the hottub was perfect!! Because of the rain, everything was so green and plush and gorgeous! Our favorite part of the house was the sitting room just off the dining room, as it was a cozy little area where we drank wine, played games, and talked for hours (when we weren't at the wineries or in town eating dinner). It was a 5 min drive to town, and although the rain prevented us from riding the bikes, there are several cute bikes on the property to use. (next time!) Stacey was soo great. She was on hand via phone/text if we needed anything. That was great, because just knowing she was available if we needed her was helpful, as we did have some small questions along the way. We had 3 rental cars (because we all came from different cities) and there was plenty of room in the driveway/parking area for all three. We are already talking about planning another trip and we would MOST DEFINITELY stay here again. Next time we will make it summer so we can utilize the pool! Thank you Stacey!!

Sonoma cottage
We really enjoyed the private location and the nice yard with various sitting spots. It is such a cute cottage, well maintained and very clean. The use of their bikes was enjoyable and convenient, with a nice bike trail in Sonoma. The pool was not open and it would have been nice to know that prior to our visit, since that was one reason I rented it. The hot tub was very nice though. One suggestion I would add is the master bed was not very comfortable, quite hard. We would definitely rent Poplar Cottage again, because of very relaxing and comfort of the home in general.

I'm sorry that my traveler did not recall our specific phone conversation that the pool is "closed" during the winter. Cold nights and rainy days make it cost-prohibitive to heat in the winter months, but I will for sure update the copy to include this to avoid ambiguity. The pool is really for use in the summer time. As for the mattress, a premium goose-down topper is on the master bed, but perhaps I will buy another softer topper for those who prefer the super sink-into-the-mattress support.
