Sogod Public Market is a vibrant mix of clothing, fresh produce, handicrafts and household items. It provides a space for the traders of Cebu Island to offer their wares. They take pride in offering a variety of goods and contributing to an important community retail space. Mingle with the tourists, Sogod’s townspeople and residents of the surrounding rural areas while browsing the many stalls. The stalls at Sogod Public Market are arranged according to the products that they sell. Cast your eyes over the displays of colourful fruits and vegetables. See fishermen with buckets of both fresh and dried fish. Watch as market-goers engage in friendly bargaining discussions with the sellers. See people purchasing T-shirts, shorts and wares for their homes. Pick up food for a picnic to enjoy at other attractions in Sogod. One such place is Binaliw Spring, where you can swim in clean water and relax on grassy lawns encompassed by fruit groves. Look for the Our Lady of Lourdes Shrine, set in a small rock cave. Close to here is the attractive Bagatayam Falls. Also close to the market is the 19th-century Santiago Apostol Parish Church. A 15-minute drive to the north is Calumboyan Public Beach, a great place to swim and spot exotic fish. Sogod Public Market is open daily. It is located 37 miles (60 kilometre) north from Cebu City, the capital of Cebu Island. Public buses travel between Cebu City and the town of Sogod.
