"What an absolute gem. From the second you're greeted off the plane by the team who help you on the boat to the island until the moment you leave, everyone is super friendly including the dogs! Comfy giant beds, powerful showers, refreshing pool with lots of shady lounging spots, gorgeous vistas, delicious food, punchy cocktails and a long stretch of pristine beach. Great location for day trips or just unwinding on site. We will be back."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Siyu?
The best area to stay in Siyu is within the historic Siyu Fort itself, or in one of the lodges just outside its walls.Siyu Fort is the main landmark, a well-preserved ancient Swahili fort with a rich history. The village is compact and walkable, with narrow alleyways winding between coral stone houses. Most of the guest accommodations are either within the fort, offering a truly unique historical experience, or a short walk away, providing views of the surrounding mangrove forests and the channel.Couples looking for a unique and tranquil retreat will find Siyu Fort and its immediate surroundings ideal. Staying within the fort offers a chance to experience the village's history firsthand, with quiet courtyards and traditional architecture. It's a place to disconnect and enjoy the slow pace of island life, perhaps taking a dhow trip through the mangroves. For solo travellers seeking a peaceful and authentic cultural experience, staying near the fort provides easy access to the village's daily life and interactions with local artisans. The lodges often arrange excursions like bird watching or visits to nearby islands, making it convenient to explore the natural beauty of the area.
When is the best time to go to Siyu?
The best time to visit Siyu is during the dry seasons, which run from November to March and again from July to October. These periods offer pleasant weather with less humidity and minimal rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the island and enjoying outdoor activities. The sea conditions are generally calm, which is great for dhow safaris, snorkelling, and visiting nearby islands. For travellers looking to experience the local culture with comfortable weather, the months between November and March are particularly good. This coincides with many local festivals and events, offering a deeper insight into Siyu's unique heritage.
