This must have been pre-pandemic as it was pretty icky. Showers were filthy. Reception is never manned and you have to press a button to speak to the owner remotely. I called days in advance to try and tell them I would be arriving after midnight but the phone just rings all day with no one answering it. They put me in a girls dorm because they had overbooked the mixed dorm. Most of the people staying there are south asians who are working or studying long-term. They take up all the space in the rooms with their stuff. There is zero hostel vibe. Lucky I'm multilingual as one day while I was working on my laptop, I was the only person in the front room. I had to open the door to new guests who couldn't speak English. They assumed I must work there. I had to speak Chinese to an older lady from China (my Chinese is pretty basic) and at the same time Indonesian to a dude from Batam. I was translating the form for him when the owner (behind the camera) asked me if i was a language teacher and why I spoke so many languages. It was a little comical. Just wish I got to also try out my Swedish and German lol. I would recommend you stay somewhere a little more expensive. You get what you pay for.
