We would love you to make River Rest your base camp to enjoy all the wonders of Southwest Montana!! Other things to note --We are in an area where all kinds of wildlife thrive. With that comes a responsibility to be aware of your interactions with them. You will be responsible for any type of encounter and it's outcome. --We have WiFi on site --Each cabin has a toaster oven rather than a full oven. --We have ample parking on site so if you are traveling with a trailer, know that we have enough space for your parking needs. --We are on a well system here -- be aware of your water usage. A septic system has its own requirements which we will inform you upon your arrival. --River Rest is a brand new build, so we will be upgrading the landscaping, but do not anticipate that it will impact your visit with us. We want to keep it as natural as we can with a few added touches to enhance your stay with us. --Our property is partially fenced: the east side is marked with red ties to mark the irrigation ditch. It is not for wading or swimming and guests will be responsible for their own safety when approaching and crossing over the bridge. --This cabin is log sided and the porch is constructed with rough sawn lumber so shoes should always be worn on the porch and just be mindful not to run your hands over the surface as could get splinters.

Quick and easy in and out. Lots of time to relax, nice facilities. Only problem was with 3 cabins the gear (bedding, cook gear etc. was scattered between all three). We rounded it up and made it work.
Needed garbage sacks. Only had one in the can and no extras.
I would suggest mirrors in the bedrooms. We were getting ready for a family wedding and an extra mirror or two would’ve been nice to have. Overall very nice, clean cabin. We had a lovely time.
Great cabins and perfect location for a fishing trip!
Comfy beds and everything we needed. The cabins are new, and they even had a places to hose off and hang our gear after being on the water. The view from the porch is beautiful!
We stayed with John and Deb for a fishing trip. Great access to the Jefferson River right out back of the cabins. A lot of options for fishing within an hour drive. The cabin itself was great with lots of amenities to make for a comfortable stay. Would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was great - very clean, well appointed, and Hilary was great with communicating before and during our stay. The location is perfect for easy fishing access to all of the rivers in the area. We will definitely stay again when we visit the area. Thank you!
We loved our stay at the Big Hole Cabin. Deb our host was wonderful, greeted us and gave us great ideas on what to do our next day! Cabin was just what we needed after lots of traveling. Comfy beds, relaxing place, and so quiet!!!! The cabin had everything we needed. Our family of 4, mom, dad, and two girls ages 10 and 13 loved The Big Hole cabin!!! Thank you it was wonderful!
John and Debbie were fantastic and very hospitable and helpful. The cabin is well designed, quiet and clean. The bed was great and everything was very clean and beyond expectations. John and Debbie bent over backwards to help us with information about where to go and what to do on our stay. Wonderful!!!
My husband and I had a wonderful time fishing and golfing in beautiful Montana! This cabin in Silver Star was fantastic. Very beautifully constructed, clean, cozy furnishings and well stocked kitchen. The location is perfect for fishing the Jefferson, Big Hole and Beaverhead Rivers. We golfed at The Works in Anaconda—beautiful course!
Deb and John were excellent hosts—very helpful and welcoming. We will definitely be back!!!
Let me just start by saying Debbie and John have established a lovely place here in the foothills of Montana! They were communicative and more accommodating than anyone could ask. And the cabin was absolutely pristine. We enjoyed everything that Debbie recommended and her daily check in to see how we were doing and just having a moment for conversation was a real pleasure. If we ever get the chance to return to Montana there is no question where we will stay! Don’t pass on this property, you won’t be disappointed!

Fell a little short
This property just fell short of what I was hoping for. No fault of the property owner though. I should have researched close to see that it was right off a major highway. It wasn’t quite a tranquil and serene experience as I was hoping for. The access to the river is nearly impossible as you have to walk through knee high brush, go down a relatively steep embankment to cross a canal bridge, then I have no idea what was on the other side. You can’t even see the river from the edge of the canal and I did not attempt to go to the bridge to cross. The home is definitely clean but the towels had a musty smell. One cabin has a sign that says, “office” but it was other people staying in there and it was not an office. Most importantly, I neglected to take note that there is no mention of air conditioning and it was extremely uncomfortable from about 4pm until it cooled off around 11pm. Fortunately, I did have a fan with me but it was still hot sleeping. Again, some of these issues are a fault of my own and not necessarily the property. Wanted to post this to bring visibility to others who may overlook the desire for air conditioning and a peaceful escape.
Great place. Extremely clean. All new appliances and furniture. Very comfortable bed. Nice extras usually forgotten in cabins: Properly placed hooks for 4 bathroom towels. Plenty of extras towels and wash cloths. Large bars of soap...not little "hotel soaps." Black out blind in one bedroom (both bedrooms would be nice!). I liked the large dinner plates, large cereal/soup bowls, and large coffee mugs. New pots and pans. Direct TV (I didn't use it much).
My only "want' would be an oven. I cook, so an oven would have been nice. However, most meals you can use the excellent large microwave. There is a toaster oven.
Full cabinet of spices, sugar, coffee, coffee filters, paper towels.
Fantastic views. Quite. Very friendly and accommodating owners! They even gave me Bear Spray when I went up into the mountains to fish. At least once...go off the beaten path and drive into the mountains. Easy 1 hour drive. Gorgeous mountain scenery and trout streams. The Big Hole River is gorgeous canyon fishing.
Overall, my 6 days stay: A+
We really enjoyed our stay here. Hilary was very helpful! The cabin is beautiful, cozy, clean, and stocked with everything we needed. Thank you!!

No grass or kayak access and confusion
Hilary was amazing except someone was in our cabin so we had to stay in a different one for the first night, then move the next day. There really wasn’t any reason to move since the cabins are identical. The cabin we will in for the first night was not as clean either. We were refunded one night but just a pain. The photo of the property (land surrounding) was not the same. We did select it because there was grass in the picture and for fishing/kayaking access. There was no grass, and def not kayak access from the place. It was close but not walkable.
Family friendly cozy cabins are the place to stay!
We can’t say enough about how friendly and welcoming the hosts are! These amazing little cabins were so fun to stay at! They are cozy, clean and so well maintained! We will definitely be back on one next Montana vacation! It was a real pleasure to stay!
Overall great experience! Cabin was as advertised along the river with awesome views of the mountains. The cabin was extremely clean and check in was a breeze.
John and Deb were exceptional hosts in the best way possible. They went out of there way to help us with things to do and even got us some air for a flat tire we ended up with our last morning. Would definitely recommend the cabins to anyone looking to stay in the area!
Absolutely the best place to stay in southwestern Montana
So perfectly clean! I was so grateful at this crazy pandemic time to walk in to this beautiful cabin and take a huge sigh of relief! Thank you so, so much for keeping the property immaculate. I can always find at least something that should have been cleaner... not here! For the first time ever I was completely in awe of their perfect cleanliness.
Such a cool area... if you go, check out the local market. I love the fact that it is a food store, coffee shop, liquor store, wine shop, toy store and flower market. Impressive! My husband and boys enjoyed the fly fishing in the area.
Deb and her husband could not have been any nicer, or any more helpful. They made every part of our cabin stay easy and relaxing. Thank you!!!
Debbie and John have thought of everything! What a beautiful cabin! New and absolutely spotless in side and out. Rustic on the outside and comfy, cozy on the inside. Our hosts were so friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable about this beautiful country! They deserve 5 🌟as well! The mountain view’s are stunning and even though you’re in fly fishing country, you don’t have to be a fisherman to enjoy your stay!
This property was the perfect location for our week long fishing excursion. Easy access to the Jefferson and the Beaverhead and Big Hole are a short drive away.
John and Deb we terrific hosts and made sure we had everything we needed.
Deb greeted us every evening when we returned from fishing to make sure there wasn’t anything we needed and to see how our vacation was going. Check in and check out were a breeze.
Their personal attention to their guests and the home away from home feel they provide is why we will definitely be staying here again on our next trip.
Thank you John and Deb is was such a pleasure meeting you two.
