We all had a comfortable stay and left determined to return soon! This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good 19 Nov 2025 #### Fabulous cottage for a lowkey girls weekend The cotttage was beautiful and very well equipped. The space was huge and perfect for 8 friends sharing. Some minor grievances: - Parking arrangements were slightly annoying - you are advised not to park in front of the neighbours houses but there is nothing to stop someone from parking in front of your home (which someone did for the whole time we stayed). The car park we were advised to park in was also full when we arrived. - The house would benefit from another shower as we all had to use the one in the master bedroom. - The bed in the master bedroom was extremely creaky too and impacted quality of sleep. Beautiful and comfortable property - exactly as described. Ilmington is a beautiful village with lovely pubs and community shop. Great location for walking/trail running and close to Stratford-upon-Avon and Waitrose. Great manager who was very sympathetic and helpful when we realised we’d left a bunch of keys at the property! Would highly recommend. We will return! Thank you. We had a lovely long weekend at The Ol Thank you for a great long weekend at The Old Post Office. We were a group of 7 family members enjoying a weekend together. The accommodation was spacious and immaculate. It had everything we needed. The location was peaceful with a lovely local shop/cafe and pub where we enjoyed a tasty roast. We enjoyed walks in Ilmington, Broadway to the tower, Chipping Campden and Moreton in Marsh. I would highly recommend The Old Post Office if you are looking for a lovely place to stay. ##### Anthony N. This property is situated in the Cotswolds less than 15 miles from Stratford. Situated in a village with a shop and two pubs and 4 miles away from the town of Shipston. The house is spacious, comfortable and warm thanks to the aga. The neighbours and villages are welcoming and friendly. The pubs are too All in all a brilliant property ### 10/10 Excellent #### Ruth B. 31 Jul 2023 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### Beautiful cottage in Ilmington Spacious, well equipped and stylish cottage with fantastic facilities, huge kitchen and all mod cons. We enjoyed our short stay very much. If you are tall beware the shortish doorways. The house was spotlessly clean and had great communal spaces, lots of comfortable chairs and sofas, enormous tables good for eating and playing board games. About 50 yds from the pub which served a good meal on Sunday evening. Loved the village shop with local bread, veg and spirits! Pretty village and plenty of things to do in the area. ##### Ruth B. Stayed 3 nights in Jul 2023 ### 10/10 Excellent #### carol k. 15 Feb 2024 Liked: Cleanliness, check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy #### lovely cottage in pretty village The cottage is as full of old world charm inside as it is from the outside. It is warm and cosy, comfortable, immaculately clean and tidy. There is only one space for parking immediately outside the property but we knew that in advance and not uncommon in a small village and anyway we always found parking close outside the pub. Cooking is on an Aga which we are a bit unused to in terms of controlling the heat and it does take longer, however it added to the charm as well :-) ##### carol k. The proximity to the pub, which did a fantastic roast and has a lovely beer garden, was amazing as well! The only element to be improved is that the curtains in the bedroom are very thin, so recommend bringing blackout blinds for children as otherwise it’s broad daylight in each room from 4.30am in the summer. Perhaps this is something that the company can look to amend for future guests’ comfort? We were not provided with a welcome hamper, which other reviewers have mentioned receiving, which was not a big issue but wanted to flag for future reference. However, it is certainly a properly we would all love to stay in again! ##### Sarah D. Plenty of room for an extended multigenerational family. Furnished well, and everything you could need there. Great local pubs within the village. Easy access to the Cotswolds and Stratford upon Avon for tourist trail. Had concerns about cooking on an AGA but was simple. If I had one suggestion not criticism it would be to remove the bath from second en-suite and replace with walk in shower. As there are 3 baths upstairs and only 1 shower and the elderly do find it difficult and dangerous stepping in/out a bath. Too risky. ##### ros l. The location of the house is perfect - situated in Ilmington near all the major Cotswold towns. The house itself was just as we imagined - charming Cotswold stone with a pretty outlook. The rooms were all spacious and tastefully furnished, the kitchen and lounge were huge and well appointed. Bedrooms were set over 2 additional floors and there were lovely bathrooms as well. Hosting a family lunch was so easy and the dining room more than enough for 8 of us. What makes The Old Post Office so lovely is that it is really a peaceful place, not overrun with tourists, nor near any busy roads. Being slightly off the beaten track yet next door to a highly rated pub was an extra bonus. Walks around the village were lovely and there was a well stocked community in easy walking distance. We would happily go back to the house again - and everyone in our party said they thought the house was great. Small points to note - 2 of the upstairs rooms had single beds (we would have preferred to have doubles in at least one of these ) and the back garden looked like it needed a little bit of extra TLC. ##### Cathie J. A beautifully decorated property which perfectly met our needs as a large group of friends. The kitchen was well equipped. More hand towels needed in bathrooms. With seven in our group a clean hand towel daily in each bathroom would have been appreciated. There were also many cobwebs near windows and beams and a few dead insects near radiators in bedroom 2 along with spiders in the downstairs toilet. The hairdryer was missing from bedroom 2 - just the bag and nozzle. Overall decor was lovely, beds were super comfy and the beautiful sunshine ensured we had a wonderful weekend. ##### Lorraine F. Loads of space for everyone to spread out and well-equipped in all aspects from kitchen equipment to games for all ages. Ilmington is a great village - two contrasting pubs, a village shop and a large children’s play area were all appreciated. Good walks from the front door and local NT properties to visit. We struggled a bit for showers! One ensuite has a shower and the other does not (we knew this before we booked), but the shower attachment in the family bathroom was only handheld despite the photos on the website showing a wall mounting. Despite being August, the weather was cool, which we were pleased about as the Aga pumps out lots of heat constantly - such a waste of fuel and not environmentally friendly. We had the bifold doors open permanently whilst we were in - must be lovely and cosy in winter! ##### Katharine E. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 8/10 Good #### Lynne B. 18 Jun 2024 #### Very enjoyable stay... We liked the Old Post Office very much, lovely accommodation, well equipped and comfortable, but reluctantly, a few minor things to mention. The shower in the ensuite needed some attention to cleaning. The 'for let' sign had been carelessly taken down leaving the outside window sill covered in masonry dust (not a good first impression). Bins in the bedroom would be good. The toilet paper and towel holders in the downstairs toilet both hanging off (one fell off completely). All the visitors in the visitors book commented on the 'welcome goodies'. We had nothing, not even a pint of milk. The check-in time of 5pm is far too late, especially considering the cost of the stay, a day is almost lost. These are just a few negatives, which can easily be put right, for what is otherwise a beautiful, comfortable, very well-equipped cottage, in lovely, delightful Ilmington, right at the heart of the village. Would book again. ##### Lynne B. Some more upright alternatives would have been preferable. If the family had been staying for longer another shower would have been helpful. Generally we were all very happy with the property. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 15 Aug 2025 #### Family Do Three generations of our family spent a wonderful long weekend at the Old Post Office. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable and well equipped with a great outdoor space where we enjoyed a BBQ. A home from home which was very easy to relax in. The village was peaceful and charming with 2 very good pubs ( with great beer gardens) and a shop which offered a good choice and great service. Sunday lunch was particularly good at The Howard Arms. We were spoilt for choice of places to visit and fitted in lots of great activities and sites to suit all generations without too much travelling time. Do not be deterred by the lack of dedicated parking for this property as we had 3 vehicles and never had an issue parking near by. It’s warm, comfortable, spacious and beautifully decorated with a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds and great bathrooms. It had plenty of room for our party of seven and we had a very relaxing weekend. We didn’t venture far but walked from the door in pretty Ilmington and walked from NT Dover’s Hill into Chipping Campden. We hope to return again next year. ##### Michele B. The cottage was spacious & beautifully appointed. It was warm & inviting with a chocolate cake wine & other goodies awaiting us. The bed linen & towels were luxurious & plentiful. It was less than a minute from a pub/restaurant where we had an excellent Sunday lunch. There was also a very well stocked community run shop just a 10 minute walk away. The village itself was extremely pretty & very quiet & peaceful. I highly recommend both the cottage & it’s location. This review comes from a trusted partner site and has not been verified. ### 10/10 Excellent 3 Jul 2023 #### Exceeded expectations, a truly special place. This really is a 5 star property. When I say it exceeded expectations it was just a perfect perfect place to a really high standard. We would 100% book to go again and I would book through staycotswold again. Their communication was great and extremely clear from the booking up to the week of us going. There was one negative and this has nothing to do with the property or staycotswold but one of the neighbours who is also connected to the courtyard has 2 dogs which they let bark from about 5.30/6am and I think it's extremely inconsiderate and annoying. We would still stay at the property again but I might make my thoughts clear to the other owner politely. ## Expedia's Latest Trends ### Hotels > [The New French Partridge](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Northampton-Hotels-The-New-French-Partridge.h2288818.Hotel-Information) > > [The Derwent Manor Boutique Hotel ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Consett-Hotels-The-Derwent-Manor-Boutique-Hotel.h9535.Hotel-Information) > > [Lakeside Lodge with 6 berth hot tub and private fishing peg](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Lincoln-Hotels-Delightful-Lakeside-Lodge-With-Hot-Tub-Private-Fishing-Peg-With-Stunning-View.h27123912.Hotel-Information) > > [DoubleTree by Hilton Manchester Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-Manchester-Airport.h26104.Hotel-Information) > > [Delta Hotels by Marriott Colchester](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Colchester-Hotels-Delta-Hotels-By-Marriott-Colchester.h14251.Hotel-Information) > > [Ox Hotel Manchester](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Milton-Manchester-Hotel.h18787802.Hotel-Information) > > [Cambridge Belfry Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cambridge-Hotels-Cambridge-Belfry.h1103020.Hotel-Information) > > [The Old Manor House ](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Shipston-On-Stour-Hotels-The-Old-Manor-House.h92446689.Hotel-Information) > > [Splash Landings Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stoke-On-Trent-Hotels-Splash-Landings-Hotel.h1160988.Hotel-Information) > > [Felbridge Gatwick Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/East-Grinstead-Hotels-Elite-Venue-Selection-Felbridge-Gatwick.h16173617.Hotel-Information) > > [Bredbury Hall by Accor](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stockport-Hotels-Bredbury-Hall.h64706.Hotel-Information) > > [Saltmoore](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Whitby-Hotels-Raithwaite-Sandsend.h4276816.Hotel-Information) > > [Wychnor Park Country Club](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Burton-On-Trent-Hotels-Wychnor-Park-Country-Club.h1927715.Hotel-Information) > > [Caverswall Castle](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stoke-On-Trent-Hotels-Caverswall-Castle.h23959535.Hotel-Information) > > [Luxury caravan at Butlins Skegness](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Skegness-Hotels-Luxury-Caravan-At-Butlins-Skegness.h36376338.Hotel-Information) > > [Cheltenham Chase Hotel & Spa](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Cheltenham-Hotels-Delta-By-Marriott-Cheltenham-Chase-Hotel.h9657.Hotel-Information) > > [Britannia Hotel Manchester Airport](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Britannia-Hotel-Manchester-Airport.h2144.Hotel-Information) > > [Fisherman's Cot, Tiverton by Marston's Inns](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Tiverton-Hotels-Fishermans-Cot.h11900175.Hotel-Information) > > [Delta Hotels by Marriott Warwick](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Warwick-Hotels-M40-J15-Warwick-Hotel.h10444.Hotel-Information) > > [Cave Hotel & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Faversham-Hotels-Cave-Hotel-Golf-Resort.h33410673.Hotel-Information) > > [Forest Pines Spa & Golf Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Brigg-Hotels-Forest-Pines-Spa-Golf-Resort.h461512.Hotel-Information) > > [De Vere Tortworth Court](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bristol-Hotels-De-Vere-Tortworth-Court.h570412.Hotel-Information) > > [Cherry Park Hall](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Worksop-Hotels-Cherry-Park-Hall.h15952872.Hotel-Information) > > [Etrop Grange Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Manchester-Hotels-Etrop-Grange.h49116.Hotel-Information) > > [Pine Lake Resort](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Carnforth-Hotels-Pine-Lake-Resort.h1928661.Hotel-Information) > > [Northlands Farm & Lakes](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Chichester-Hotels-Northlands-Farm-Lakes-Premium-Chalet-1.h37797465.Hotel-Information) > > [Urban Beach Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Bournemouth-Hotels-Urban-Beach-Hotel.h2814369.Hotel-Information) > > [DoubleTree by Hilton Stoke on Trent](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Stoke-On-Trent-Hotels-DoubleTree-By-Hilton-Stoke-On-Trent.h6788.Hotel-Information) > > [Makeney Hall Hotel](https://www.expedia.co.uk/Belper-Hotels-Makeney-Hall-Hotel.h1206529.Hotel-Information) ---
