The property is conveniently located, with Shanklin old village just a 20 minute walk away where you will find pubs and restaurants serving excellent food, along with quaint shops including The Rock Shop, with its array of traditional flavoured sweets, rocks and biscuits. This single-storey property provides three bedrooms; a modern open-plan layout including a bright and spacious sitting room area with cosy wood burning stove; a well-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar seating four guests in addition to the dining table with seating for six guests. A separate snug with a television, comfy arm chair and a large, squidgy bean bag is the perfect place to enjoy some down time. Outside, the front of the property offers a decked area with garden furniture where you can enjoy some al-fresco dining or a glass of wine whilst watching the sun go down, along with a large lawned area for the children to play. Additional Information: Up to two well behaved dogs are welcome (small additional charge). Infants are welcome, please provide your own travel cot and highchair if required. Whilst all ground floor, there are a few steps leading up to the accommodation. Please ensure children are supervised at all times whilst outside, the decked area has steps down to a paved area. It’s a lovely bungalow, a short walk from Shanklin beach and also close to Shanklin town centre. The garden was perfect as we had our small dog with us and he loved this. Even managed to sit out on the decking in March! Just a few minor negative points. When we stayed before the kettle was in a poor state and needed descaling, it did again. Also, the fire hadn’t been cleaned out as before. TV reception was not good with some channels either not available or picture breaking up whilst watching. It didn’t spoil our holiday, but would be good if small details like this could be addressed. Apart from these points, we would recommend the property. ##### Mike K. Oven gloves would be helpful. Something had dripped down front of cooker onto drawers. Kitchen scissors yes please. Outside table had obviously not been wiped for months it was filthy. Liked the hamper, also no info on when bins were collected, neighbour told us otherwise we wouldn't have known. Firstly, the service from IOW Hideaways was great - very helpful with booking and Ferry crossings. The property itself... Pro's: - The property is in a great location, with parking for two cars. - It has a decent outside space (if you get the weather!). - Great Lounge and Kitchen Diner space to the front of the house. - Well equipped kitchen. Con's: - The one and only shower is TERRIBLE. It is an electric shower and is severely underpowered. Furthermore, there is only a partial shower screen so the bathroom floor gets completely sodden dispute best attempts not to. If you take one thing from my review, please please please update the shower and put a full shower enclosure in! - The double bed in the second bedroom was creaky and quite uncomfortable. - Generally, the property feels a little tired and a little unloved (perhaps because it is on the market for sale currently). For example the garden, whilst not wild, is in need of attention with the pathways restricted by overgrowing plants/hedges, and the fences & decking are in desperate need of a lick of paint. - The snug room is pointless - there's only a random chair and beanbag, so can't really be used for much. Overall: The property provided a decent base for a weeks holiday. We enjoyed our stay, but given that the property wasn't cheap, the terrible shower (and lack of proper shower screen/enclosure) & poor quality second double bed were the only reasons I would not recommend this place. If these were remedied I would have no issue in recommending this property. Especially liked being able to dine and drink al fresco in the evenings on the decking with a (partial) view of the sea. All mod cons as you'd expect and as others have said the welcome hamper was very well received! Great cookies! Beautifully terraced garden in front of the deck pleased the dog as well. Overall 4.5 out of 5 rating from us. Only a couple of minor maintenance issues preventing a 5 star review - the guttering needs clearing out (waterfalls by the windows when it rains) a few slates on retaining wall are loose and the shower head bracket is broken - ok if everyone in the party is the same height. Once these small issues are sorted though we'd thoroughly recommend this place. Sea view from the decking area lovely while having our meals and drinks outside which gets the sun all day. Weather was great while we were there so we made the most of the bbq. Property is modern very clean and has everything you need. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise full of of lovely food and goodies. Nearby The Hideaway is a few minutes walk on the coastal path is a little gem and also Fins and Trade Winds are a nice walk along the prom for breakfast or lunch. 5-10 mins walk or short taxi ride to Shanklin town and Old Shanklin where there’s a selection of shops bars and restaurants. The only niggles for us was the bathroom isn’t up to the same standard as the rest of the house but maybe it’s work in progress and an extra basin in second toilet would be useful. All the amenities you need are on hand in the house and the welcome pack appreciated. The only reason it dropped a point on condition was that the shower was a bit old fashioned and not powerful enough and the garden had not been sorted, long grass and weed filled flower beds although someone turned up mid week to remove weeds and left in a pile by the decking.The island is very easy to get around with Shanklin as the starting point.Nice pubs and coffee shops all nearby with Tradewinds along the promenade going towards Sandown our favourite. Lovely walks along the coast path with our 2 dogs who loved it. We had to stick a note on the doors when they were in use. Also the cloakroom and one bedroom wardrobe doors had come off the rails. Just a couple of things that need sorting, but it didn’t spoil our stay. Close to Shanklin too, only a short walk. We made use of the outdoor seating area, as we were lucky with the weather, lovely views of the sea, and boats sailing by. ##### Janet A. The cleaner seemed to have left in a hurry as bedroom cabinets were still pulled out & the oven hadn't been Also, our hamper arrived after I sent an email. Despite this, everything else was ok & clean. It is a great place to suit a group of 6 adults who want to have a base & explore the island both on foot or by car. Wow, this was our first family holiday in a long time and everything was perfect! The house was amazing, clean, organised and had everything you needed. The location was perfect, a short walk to the beach and lots to do. The house was perfect for our dog too, he enjoyed the run round the private gardens. We had a lovely hamper of food and goodies left which was a lovely touch too. We could not have wished for better with this house, and we will definitely be returning for our holiday again next year. The location is its best asset . The beach so accessible. The house was well equipped and spacious , the gardens lovely. Outside sitting on veranda was wonderful as it gets sun most of the day.
