The area around the hotel is limited - not many choices for restaurants or shopping. The hotel is near at least one subway station (Gutang Road), but that's true of pretty much any hotel I've stayed at in China, so not much of a draw. I did have problems communicating with a receptionist at check-in, but I'm willing to believe I wasn't speaking slowly or clearly enough. Although the hotel interior looks very recently decorated, there are several things in the room that are either broken or not working, such as bathroom locks and bath tub drains. There is a large gap in the bathroom curtains so you can look into the bathroom from the bedroom area and those curtains are semi-transparent. A bit lack of privacy. The worst part is that the staff didn't seem to know the hotel very well. We checked the opening hours of the swimming pool before heading down, when we got to the pool one hour before it closed, the staff told us the pool was already closed. And the next morning we checked the opening time and to double confirm it we called front desk and asked whether the pool is open, the staff reassured us that it was definitely open. We went down and the pool was locked.
