Appreciated the free shuttle inside the hotel complex during the summer heat. The room was spacious and well maintained. Gorgeous architecture and beautiful gardens. They try to charge me for additional breakfast… an upsell strategy. Breakfast was good. I will never stay there again because I felt was tired to be overcharged. I had to show proof that I have reservation from Expedia that includes 2 breakfast and they insisted to call and verify with Expedia. The front desk need to learn how to dear customer. Despite the convenient location, it’s surrounded by green space in a park like environment, truly an oasis in the middle of large busy city. The staff is extremely polite, professional, and attentive. The rooms are classic, spacious, and large. The only slight disappointment the hotel restaurant, Xin yuan Lou. Hotel was a surprise given it’s size and beautiful gardens are right in the middle of Shanghai but service and cleanliness were poor. After a few days of staying, I developed a rash and cough. But the hotel management's subsequent excuse was: "The humidity in Shanghai is high and the weather is hot, which is normal for this time of year." They completely shirked their responsibility for routine maintenance.
