My wife and I came to town for a Brewers game.The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was a little small, but was adequate for the 2 of us. Lots of parking. We really enjoyed all the different restaurants that were in the he vicinity of the hotel.

I loved the beautiful, historic common places and the artwork. The view from the pool and the restaurant are marvelous, and I liked that the pool opened at 6AM so I could take a relaxing morning swim. Front desk staff was very good. The concierge was very helpful and remembered my name when I spoke with her a second time. The Victorian afternoon tea was lovely. Classy place. I was traveling alone but it would be a perfect place for a romantic weekend or an event weekend. Also, not far from the River Walk, so a good place to stay for a fun weekend like for Octoberfest. I enjoyed watching the World Cup at several River Walk spots

I was super impressed with this place! The staff is very welcoming and the room was super spacious. Felt very comfortable and will for sure book here!

Things have gone down hill. We used to love the iron horse and it was always a unique, cool place to stay but this last stay was not what we experienced in the past. First the staff no longer are in uniforms. One staff member was wondering around (not sure what he was even doing) in blue jeans and “staff” shirt, the night hostess was in a black iron horse tshirt and black biking shorts, the morning hostess was in a light pink tshirt and pink sweat pants, and bar staff all in jeans and iron horse tshirts. The lobby ac was not working, it was unexpectedly warm, especially on the hottest week of the year. When we checked in we got our room and upon walking in, there was already someone’s stuff in that room. The hostess was nice about the whole thing and switched us to another room. The new room had wall molding peel off the wall, the carpet was bunching up in one spot, the toilet leaked around the base and again the AC never got cold. Wouldn’t get below 75*. After dinner we wanted to go to the bar but the inside bar was closed and only the patio open. That bar had a much smaller selection of drinks than expected. There was also a security guard pacing around the patio. He was just wearing black pants and a “security” tshirt. This was very tacky and unnecessary. For a hotel with so much potential to offer an amazing and unique experience it was sad to see it in this state. We will not be returning until the aura and prestige of the original iron horse returns.

Casino is clean and fresh, no smoking is fabulous.
