We enjoyed a wonderful two days at Matildas. The hotel was a wonderful refuge, especially the garden, and the vibe was relaxed and friendly. Macarena, at the front desk, was kind and thoughtful as she helped us with our early arrival. Her suggestions for travel around the city were helpful, and we went to two of the three restaurants she recommended (both were excellent). Although all of the staff were friendly, Macarena really stood out. We would definitely stay here again.

Staff very helpful. Owner made sure we were satisfied. Property was very comfortable with excellent sitting area outside. Breakfast was great. One of the best hotels I have stayed. Would highly recommend.

This is a truly unique and magical property that I would highly recommend. There's so much history and beaux-arts beauty in this space that you will feel its special energy. This is a one-of-a-kind space that I absolutely loved. We stayed in the master suite and it did not disappoint. The back garden only makes you feel more special.

I had just experienced a significant loss of a family member and I needed a place to relax. Every single staff member was so kind!!!!. If you are looking for an authentic experience that is close to important parts of Santiago you will be happy here. The neighborhood has many things to offer, don’t be discouraged by others saying bario Brasil is a little dangerous. I have been to many cities in South America and Santiago felt safe the entire time.

Awesome hotel, near to airport. The neighborhood is okay, but the hotel itself is lovely and set in an old building from 1912. Very comfortable room, and amazing service. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

This is an extraordinary place to stay in Santiago. It’s a beautiful and architecturally significant 1912 house that dates from the classic period of the unpretentious but grand Barrio Brasil. The property has three quite tall stories (there is no elevator) but is not too wide, and the overall effect for the guest is of residing in a surprisingly intimate home. My third story room had a fine wooden floor, a very high ceiling with impressive decorative flourishes, and handsome shutters that opened out onto a view of slightly busy Agustinas street and to a view to the south and southeast and the mountains. There was a bit of street noise from passing cars (nothing that bothered me) so some guests might prefer a room facing the pleasant back garden. The bed was very comfortable. My favorite public room in the hotel was the library, a cozy space with big windows facing the garden. I benefited from two good books about Valparaiso there. Barrio Brasil was always interesting, lively but laid-back, with rich street art and only a modest number of tourists, and with the Alberto Hurtado University only a few blocks from Matildas contributing to the neighborhood’s vibe. And as others have said, the people at Matildas are wonderful - tremendously kind, full of intelligent conversation and good humor as well as great advice. Please be kind in return if you stay here.

Good Santiago hotel
I was very impressed with how well everyone spoke English at the hotel. They really helped me when I checked in to get me comfortable with the hotel and the surrounding area. And they pointed me in the right direction to get some food at 9:00 p.m. at night. There are a lot of restaurants right around the hotel and bars. There's also a nice park. And I got a free glass of white wine when I checked in! My room was perfectly clean. My only mark off for cleanliness is at the breakfast buffet there was a black long hair on something... Not a big deal for me because it wasn't something that I was interested in getting at the buffet... Just a notice...

This property charges extra when a debit card is used. Our stay cost more than what was quoted on Travelocity. The hotel continued to charge us (for breakfast and other fees) even after we were told our account had a zero balance. They run a bar with loud music in the courtyard late into the night. There is no air conditioning. The door loch would not work on the door.

Wonderful hotel. Absolutely gorgeous. And the staff was so friendly and accommodating - always making sure you're comfortable and going the extra bit to make your staff enjoyable. They got all the little things (and big things) right. While it's a bit out of the central area, the hotel is not difficult to access and there are a ton of dining options in the area. One drawback is that's there's no TV, but that's not uncommon for smaller hotels in Chile and the WiFi worked quite well. It's like an oasis - the garden and common rooms are a bonus to make you like you're being pampered in your own home. Stayed for two days in February 2023 on my second stay in Santiago. Would highly recommend.

A Jewel in Downtown Santiago
The staff is very professional, proactive, and friendly. I am coming back. They also provided recommendations on things to do during a Santiago sojourn and dinning recommendations that were solid. Our group enjoyed the backyard patio; it felt as though we were miles away from Santiago. A little wine there too and we felt right at home. Last, they were amazing helping make arrangements to the airport. Thank you Lily!

This is an excellent small hotel. Beautifully maintained with high ceilings, beautiful stair banisters and nice garden. Very helpful and friendly staff. I would highly recommend. Felt safe. Not to much to see in the immediate area but overall an excellent experience

Matildas is a lovely gated property in the center of Santiago. The hosts and staff are friendly and helpful. There are excellent dining options very close by and the metro is convenient. I would highly recommend this hotel.

We had to leave because our room had mould in it and after 20 minutes we were coughing like crazy. Sad because the host was nice. We could not get a different room since the hotel was fully booked for a wedding.

The only time I used my credit card in Santiago was to check in at the hotel. After I checked in at the hotel unauthorized charges ocured on my credit card.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Their English was very good and it was easy to communicate. The building in more than 100 years old. It seems that this was a private property/villa that was transformed into a boutique hotel. Some of the old feature of the villa were preserved. However the new furniture does not match the old spirit of the hotel. The back yard is very nice. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is about 15 minutes walking from the center.

The public areas needed a good clean, a lot of dust on staircase and the carpet needed vacuuming. Tne breakfast and staff were excellent. Reception offered us a personal tour guide, Oscar, who was a gem, taking us to wineries, the Andes and Valparaiso. I would recommend staying at Matildas

The hotel is beautiful and Rocio went out of her way to accommodate us. Unfortunately our room had a sink that was clogged and the toilet quit flushing in the middle of the night. The air conditioner made a loud noise all night. Needless to say, we did not get much sleep between the AC noise and the constant machine gun noises from the street, which lasted until 3am. When we told Rocio about the issues we had she said that maintenance would not be working that day and offered a bathroom in a nearby room to use.

Dear Teresita, we just have recive a sustainability certification, all the toillets are working well and the sink in all the bathrooms works good too. This is the first time that we recive acomment about the noise from the AC, is not loud for our guests, you forgot to say that you come with a migrane and your two nights staying change for one and because was a non refundable you didn´t recive the money back. The cancelation policies are on the web. A machine gun noise??? This is safe neighborhood, maybe you can hear loud music some night but not machine gun noices. The maintenance work is from monday to saturday, you left the hotel on friday morning and the room was without problems.

Matildas is a heritage building, beautiful carvings , high ceilings, excellent location. It is also very secure. No air conditioning or elevators are the only downside. There is a large fan in each room. Staff are very nice, limited English.

The couple who own and run this hotel do an amazing job. The staff is communicative and very helpful. Continuously updated, the rooms are roomy, well appointed, and clean and the beds very comfortable. The garden in back is priceless. Breakfast and bar selections are very good and the location can hardly be beat—in a quiet neighborhood less than a kilometer walk to the old section and museums of Santiago. Many excellent dining options within walking distance. Would heartily recommend this as a place to stay for your visit to this historic city
