This hotel is just outside the historic district so it is perfect if you want to see shop and eat in the historic district but want something a little quieter at the end of the day.

Altaïr Hotel is a 5-⭐️ hotel.
Staff, room, breakfast, and dinner recommendations of Altaïr Hotel staff are the best we have experienced in Spain and Portugal in our travel so far. We will come back next year in our next journey of Camino de Santiago.

This is a beautiful hotel run by very pleasant people. It’s location is ideal for visiting all of Santiago’s old town.. wonderful breakfast and small shops around the corner, including bakery and small restaurants. Very clean and tranquil.

A great cozy hotel
Our stay at Altair Hotel was excellent. The location is very convenient, the hotel sits just on the edge of the old town, so it’s very walkable to anywhere in the city. It is also very quiet. The room was very comfortable, the breakfast was plentiful and delicious, the service was beyond reproach. Many thanks to all the ladies working at the reception and the kitchen special, especially to Teresa who does an outstanding job and was super helpful for us.

The property was lovely. It was clean, the room was nice. However, unfortunately the air conditioning was not working, because of the lower temperature in Santiago. Coming from the UK, it was extremely hot and so we needed the window open. This then caused issue with noise. The window in front of us allowed us to hear each cobble on the road as cars drove down and garbage men throughout the night. The window on the right, some form of unit which kicked in every 15 minute or so with a loud buzzing noise…so while lovely, I didn’t sleep for the majority of the time. The proximity to the town is excellent, and maybe if we had the windows closed, it would have been perfect.

Good location with everything very walkable. Accommodations were well appointed, clean, safe and convenient. The real gem at this hotel is the staff, especially Teresa! Complete, authentic hospitality. Very knowledgeable about area and willing to go above and beyond for the guest.

It was a shame you didn't tell us about the pillows because we have softer bed pillows in all closets. We have 24h reception just to be able to solve these little things. Convenient to Obradoirio Square and Cathedral. Also well positioned for Airport bus if like me you use the L6A. Breakfast was thoroughly enjoyable, delicious and more than ample. Staff so kind and welcoming as well as informative. Will return and recommend. M

Outstanding hotel
This hotel is excellent. It is in a beautiful building with a hilltop view. Central location within walking distance from all the major attractions in town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Parking overnight on the street outside is free but you will need to move the car during the day. Parking spots are also difficult to find. All in all this is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed at, and I travel often.

I love this hotel!

Very nice hotel. Great location. Only issue is that the shower has only a half door which allows water to get on the floor no matter how careful you are. It has damaged the wood door trim. Rest of the hotel and room was perfect.

Exceptional Historic Hotel
Excellent hotel with nice sized rooms and comfortable beds. Teresa was so friendly and helpful during our stay. Only negative was the air conditioning. They had switched to heat and so we had to sleep with the windows open. The fresh air was wonderful, but the noise from people staying up all night made it a bit difficult on the weekend night. Great location near old town and several good restaurants.

Our stay in Santiago de Compostela
This is an amazing hotel in a great location, just a short walk to the cathedral. The reception team are amazing and so helpful (we left a mobile phone in Madrid and they helped us with a courier to deliver this to the hotel in Santiago). The breakfast is also great, fresh local toasted bread, iberico ham, local cheese, toasted croissants...all great produce that is fresh and with table service. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay at this hotel again, incredibly stylish, clean and well presented.

Very nice bedroom (nice design with old stone walls and balcony) and breakfast area/lobby. Staff are very helpful with tourist advice and taxi bookings. Great location a few steps outside the city centre. Only a couple of negatives - AC stopped cooling after midnight for some reason so this affected our sleep. Also, towels need updating, a bit old and thin. Otherwise, it was a perfect stay.
