Great space overall. Nice fenced in yard and a great living room, kitchen and dining room. No heat and the shower didn’t really get hot. Made it really uncomfortable to stay in the house for an extended period of time.
Gorgeous property, my mom had the best time here for her 60th birthday. We can't wait to return! If you're in Los Olivos treat yourself to this beautiful gem.
Carisa's guest house is wonderful! Lots of thoughtful design touches, and it's in a beautiful location. Unfortunately for us, it rained the entire time we were there so we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor space all that much, but I'd love to come back another time when the weather is better so that we can enjoy the outdoor fire pit and soak in the beauty of the property.
Thanks for the great stay, Carisa!
This was our second time staying at the casita after having visited a few years ago. We had just as nice of a time. The location is great with a 1 minute drive into Los Olivos. Owners were very good about communicating with us and once there we had no need for anything. Will likely stay here again and can continue to recommend staying here to others. Thanks!
My friend and I stayed at the house recently near Lo Olivos. It needed a little airing out when we first got there. The smell inside was a little stuffy. It says it sleeps for, but actually the pullout couch was very uncomfortable. We both stayed in the bedroom and only sat there to watch a little TV. It was nice to have a refrigerator and washer dryer.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is in a great location within walking/biking to Los Olivos at the head of the Foxen Canyon Wine Trail. You stay in a spacious guest house on a ranch, with a great view of equestrian activity and plenty of personal space to unpack and relax. The hosts were great to work with.
We had a wonderful stay at the guest house. Great location and scenery. Close to town, wineries and restaurants, but also tucked away enough to experience country living. Thank you Carissa and Chris! Can't wait to come back and visit. Cheers!
We had a great girls trip in Los Olivos. The location is perfect to drive or walk to downtown and have a quiet night at the end of the day :)

I wanted so badly to write something nice about this beautiful property! That is what I will say: the property is beautiful, but they will not let you walk it.
The TV didn't work. I seriously tried everything and the host said "It was working before." It was never solved.
The shower didn't work either, I had to stand very close to the wall and let the water dribble down on me.
The bed sheets were COVERED in human hair. Top to bottom. So gross!
There is a water cooler but it was out of water and they didn't refill it for us.
The outside area is nice but the couches are covered in ants.
Overall it seemed like they weren't prepared for us. The location was also worse than we expected, on the map it looked closer to town.
Carisa and Chris have the most beautiful home on a gorgeous, quiet property. The stars at night are amazing. The house is lovely, with loads of privacy. They were the most gracious hosts and made sure our stay was exceptional. I definitely recommend this home if you’re staying in the area.
Great communication from the hosts and the location can't be beat - an easy walk to the center of town. My only real complaints were that a lamp in the bedroom would be nice and the bed was pretty uncomfortable. Other than that, lovely stay!
Chris was really friendly and the house was spacious, clean, and relaxing. The property is gorgeous and we slept so well. It’s so quiet there but only a 2 minute drive to the adorable little town center of Los Olivos.
We stayed here in September 2020, but I haven't had much of a chance to right a review until now.
The host, Chris, greeted us on the long drive and escorted us to the guest house. His reception was very warm and inviting.
I would recommend this vacation stay to anyone looking for a quiet get-away.
We hope to go back again... soon.

Expected more for this pricey 1 bedroom
The minuses- Expected more value for a pricey 1 bedroom. Moldy lawn furniture outside, cobwebs in window screen in bathroom (saw a small spider in bath tub), uncomfortable pull out sofa, had to hold the shower valve with one hand while showering to keep water coming from shower head, main door lock was touchy. Then told by property owner to not worry about the lock cause it was a safe neighborhood (we were two women travelling alone). Communication on things like how to work the TV and door lock was poor (had to text/phone at least three times for a response). The pluses- close to Los Olivos and guest house was very private and nicely decorated. With some maintenance, TLC, attention to details (little things that matter like stocking some cream for morning coffee) and better customer service and this could be a top notch property worth the high price tag.
We stayed over for 2 nights, and the property itself is beautiful! Perfect location only 3 minutes from downtown Los Olivos. The guest cottage is quite large and has it's own fenced in little yard, which is really nice. And the horses all around the property are beautiful to see, along with the beautiful grounds.
Bed was comfortable.
However, we were disappointed in the cleanliness of the unit. There was so much dust/dirt on the floors, that when I dropped my shirt, it was covered in gray muck when I picked it up. And there were hand prints all over the large mirror in the living room, showing that no cleaning had been done in the living area. Lampshades and ceilings/corners were covered in dust and spider webs. Glasses were dirty, had to clean by hand. Toilet was old and stained and didn't look clean. Bathroom faucet didn't work properly. The couch was just ok, as it seemed very old and dirty and was not comfortable. It was the only place to sit as all of the other furniture was hard wood only. And the outdoor couch pillows were beyond old and dirty.
I'm sorry to point out all of the downsides, but when you are paying this much, it feels almost disrespectful of the guests to not have the lodging be in better shape, and actually have it cleaned properly. We were disappointed by that.
So while the unit itself was great, and the owner was very nice and friendly, feeling like we were sleeping./staying in a dirty place overrode our full enjoyment and experience.
We had a wonderful stay at this cottage just 1/2 mile to downtown Los Olivos. The grounds were beautiful, the cottage had rustic charm and was comfortable for our family of four.
My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend in May 2021. The property is beautiful, filled with horse stables, large fields, and an amazing array of colorful flowers. The ranch is only a fifteen-minute walk to downtown Los Olivos, though crossing the busy highway 154 on foot can be a challenge. Our host, Chris, recommended taking the back streets rather than walking down the highway and this worked well. The best part of this rental is how close it is to everything.
The guesthouse was private, quiet, and clean. The enclosed backyard is perfect for children or pets. There’s a large comfortable bed in the bedroom and a pull-out couch in the living room. The bathroom has a bathtub and the best water pressure. Seriously, that shower is amazing for washing off after a long hike. The wifi worked well and we had no issues streaming movies to our iPad. Likewise, the Apple TV with numerous streaming apps will keep anyone entertained. Just a heads up, there’s no microwave, so any cooking must be done on the stovetop. The best perk was the bottle of Syrah Chris provided while checking in. So delish!
If you’re interested in hiking, I suggest heading up Figueroa Mountain Road a half hour to the Los Padres National Forest. The paved mountain road was easy enough to navigate with our little Prius, so four-wheel drive isn’t necessary. We hiked the La Jolla Trail to the Ballard Camp (2 hours) and the Davy Brown trail (4 hours). Both were inverse hikes where you start going down and the return uphill. The mountain views were spectacular and not to be missed.
Overall, this rental is perfect for a weekend escape filled with wine, hiking, and sunshine!!!
We had a great time at Chris’ guest house. We slept four comfortably and enjoyed the outdoor space. Close to town and beautiful property to spend a weekend at.
