"Ett hotell som liknade ett vandrarhem. Receptionen och restaurang delen stängde 19 och då låstes även huvudingången så man var tvungen att gå in genom en liten dörr på andra sidan byggnaden. Efter 19 så fick man dela på ett gemensamt kök där man kunde laga sin egen mat. Att detta får kallas hotell är en bra fråga."

Frequently asked questions

What is the best area to stay in Sandvik?
The best area to stay in Sandvik is generally around the village centre, particularly near the harbour, offering the most convenient access to amenities and local life.

This area provides a central base for exploring the village. You'll find a selection of local shops, eateries, and a bakery within easy walking distance. The harbour itself is a focal point, often bustling with boats and offering pleasant views. The main road through the village, Ölandsvägen, connects you to these key spots.

Couples looking for a relaxing and convenient stay will appreciate the village centre. You're close to everything you need, from a morning coffee to an evening meal, and can easily take strolls along the waterfront. Many of the guesthouses and holiday homes in this area are well-equipped, offering a comfortable base for your holiday.

For those interested in exploring the surrounding nature and historical sites, staying slightly outside the immediate village centre but still within a short driving distance can be ideal. Areas just off Ölandsvägen offer more secluded accommodation options, often with larger gardens, while still providing quick access to Sandvik's amenities and the wider Öland island.
When is the best time to go to Sandvik?
The best time to visit Sandvik is during the summer months, from June to August, for the warmest weather and most daylight.

During these months, the average temperatures are pleasant, ranging from 18°C to 22°C (64°F to 72°F), making it ideal for outdoor activities and exploring the island of Öland. The days are also very long, with daylight lasting well into the evening, providing ample time for sightseeing and relaxation.

This period is superb for families looking to enjoy the beaches and the many outdoor attractions Öland has to offer. The water is warm enough for swimming, and many local events and festivals take place, adding to the holiday experience.

Couples might also appreciate the long, bright evenings for romantic strolls along the coast or enjoying a meal at one of the local restaurants. The relaxed pace of life during the summer provides a lovely escape.
