Our stay at the Grand Caribe was overall just okay;kind of like an NBA veteran who’s clearly past his prime. There’s still experience and reliability there, but you can’t help noticing the wear and tear. The décor felt dated throughout the property, and there were visible signs of aging that made the resort feel a bit tired. The hot tub was also out of service during our stay, which was a disappointment.That said, being able to use the Sunset Caribe property across the street was a big plus. Sunset Caribe is far more modern, livelier, and honestly where we found ourselves spending much of our time. It highlighted what Grand Caribe is currently missing. The standout feature at Grand Caribe was easily the three-bedroom unit. It was spacious, well laid out, and fully stocked, making it ideal for our family. Having that much room to spread out added real value to our trip and was arguably the best part of staying here. Onsite restaurants were overpriced for the quality—food was just okay and not particularly memorable. The pool bar had good drinks, though they were expensive, and the food there was pretty meh. We did enjoy the one day of live entertainment at the pool, but outside of that, the pool area felt pretty quiet and lacking energy. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful, which we appreciated.
