Carmel-by-the-Sea, located further north in California, shares Laguna's artistic heritage and stunning coastline. It's known for its fairytale-like cottages, art galleries, and a beautiful white sand beach. Couples will appreciate the romantic atmosphere, boutique shops, and excellent dining options, all within a very walkable village setting.

La Jolla, just south of Laguna Beach, offers a comparable blend of picturesque coves, high-end shopping, and a sophisticated coastal feel. It boasts beautiful beaches, dramatic cliffs, and opportunities for water activities.

For most travellers, the best time to visit Laguna is during the autumn months, specifically September and October.

During these months, you'll find the weather is pleasantly warm, with clear skies and comfortable temperatures ideal for enjoying the beaches and outdoor activities. The summer crowds have thinned out, meaning a more relaxed experience at popular spots and easier access to restaurants and attractions. This period also often brings some of the best surf conditions of the year.

Couples looking for a romantic getaway will appreciate the quieter atmosphere and beautiful sunsets during autumn. It's great for strolls along the coastline, exploring the art galleries without the bustling summer crowds, and enjoying al fresco dining.

Families, especially those with younger children not tied to school holidays, will also find this time appealing. The ocean temperatures are still inviting for swimming and playing, and the less crowded beaches make for a more stress-free day out.
