Nice 1912 hotel with the original elevator still in use. in the heart of gaslamp. super clean little hotel. would definitely be staying here again.

I did like the decor and the old school elevators and the room layout was interesting. My fiancé ordered room service but wasn’t able to ordered a drink to go with it which was an inconvenience.

The hotel was really cool but the room was super tiny and the ac was not working. I took a shower and the shower knob broke by simply turning it. Good area but the room was not the best.

When you walk into the Palihotel, you feel like you’ve walked into a home, you are invited in with the family feel with fantastic service and genuine friendliness. The property is always part of the areas history, I’ve stayed in two different locations and looking forward to staying in others as well. Truly boutique and the efforts of the little things are noticed, I love that you have shampoo and conditioner plus body wash in the showers which you would think wouldn’t be a big deal but even five star hotels sometimes miss out on good conditioner and plenty of it. The restaurant, the St. James is a French restaurant in the hotel, and it was phenomenal! I ate there every day and night, although I planned to check out other highly rated restaurants in the area, never did. There was a hiccup the first night with a battery in the fire alarm waking me up in the middle of the night the reception immediately moved me to a new room where I could sleep, kept all of my things in the old room fixed the battery the next day comped my room and put me back into my old room. At 4 AM in the morning the staff was as friendly as if it was in the middle of the afternoon. The management is kind and train their staff accordingly. I give them five star and look forward to my next stay! Thank you!

Pretty boutique hotel with convenient location to Gaslamp district and Padres stadium. The valet service is deplorable. The staff have a difficult time managing customer service and seem to become easily overwhelmed.

I was in town for a conference and stayed for 4 nights. Accommodations were perfect for what I needed. I was traveling alone and felt very safe walking to and from the convention center. The hotel was very clean and staff was very accommodating. I would definitely stay again.

We get to our room the AC was not working so we called the front desk, they couldn’t fix it so we switched rooms. The front desk receptionist was so helpful and nice she even brought us cookies for the inconvenience. Lovely hotel would stay again

I had high expectations based on reviews and photos. When my family travels we consider hotels and other accommodations part of our overall experience. We always seek out boutique hotels and properties and nearly always have rave reviews. This hotel, unfortunately fell short in many ways; the room temperature was cold, we literally were cold from start to finish. Our room was next to outside exhaust fans which were very noisy, nearly all night. The sofa bed for our adult daughter wasn't made up. We called twice to get bedding and when it arrived there was not even an attempt to help make up the sofa bed. Linens were given to us in a bag. No pillowcases. Not enough towels. Coffee machine did not work and even if it did, all pods were decaf. The hotel restaurant, we hoped would redeem some of the shortcomings, but the menu was so limited we opted for someplace else down the street. We spent more on this hotel room than we did on a weekly car rental for this trip. It was not a good experience. So disappointed our last night of vacation will be remembered this way.

Besides the old skool elevator that is really hard to operate, also a safety hazard due to the gate to get in and out of the elevator almost injured my hands several time when entering the elevator, also took a long time for arrival after you push the button. The stairs are confusing. The room didn’t have proper AC installation that works so the air was humid in the room during our whole stay. It was extremely uncomfortable. Also the $58 a day for horrible valet parking that has long waits for your car. It was chaotic and disorganized as the valet staff were limited and mixed up our car with someone else. It took forever each time we need our car. Will not stay at this location again it wasn’t the best experience.

The price and location were amazing. The staff was great especially at the cafe. I received a complimentary drink upon my arrival and the room was small but nice. The elevator situation which many other reviews complained about is overstated. The hotel is old school and the elevators are part of the charm. If you really are that impatient or need assistance simply ask the staff. I would stay here again.

Everyone is kind and welcoming, the location is great! close to all shops and restaurants. Our AC didn’t work and maintenance immediately fixed it. The beds and showers are amazing! and the mini fridge is fully stocked!!! Great place 10/10

This property was so special. Every detail was so carefully thought of. It transports you to a time and place that can’t be found at most other places. The rooms are small, and elevators not the most convenient, but it didn’t bother us. It’s so cool to see an older building be refurbished into something magical instead of torn down. Great location and the rooftop has got to be one of the best views in SD!! Drinks from Saint James were amazing.

Not ADA compliant. The hotel elevator was not wide enough for my husbands walker and difficult to hold the door open and gate to get inside. It was advertised as the “original” elevator style. The bathroom was missing hand soap and after calling the front desk they never came up to bring it.

The staff are nice and helpful however the property in itself is very old and outdated. For example the elevator is over 100 years old. It takes forever to arrive. Rooms are small and not convenient. Would stay somewhere else next time.

I had a pleasant stay at the hotel, but the parking situation was a major issue for me. The hotel only offered a $50 per night parking option, which was quite expensive. Additionally, I noticed a lot of trash and homelessness outside the hotel, and the smell of urine was noticeable upon entering the property. On the positive side, my room was very clean and tidy, and I received a complimentary drink which was a nice touch. The Wi-Fi was easily accessible and worked well. However, the building itself is quite old and the elevators were a bit of a nuisance as they were small and unstable.

Beautiful hotel. Tiny rooms. Bed was luxuriously comfortable and so was the shower head. Virtually no space for luggage. Single pane windows mean it's noisy depending on what's going on in gaslamp. We were there for st Patty's and it was loud. The rooftop was so peaceful and beautiful. I would stay here again for sure.

There was plenty of food options within a 1/2 mile radius. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful. The parking is a little ridiculous. I recommend parking in the parking garage on 6th and market for $30 a night.

The property is beautifully renovated and designed. Staff is polite and friendly. Valet parking is extremely expensive $60 per day. We found a free overnight street parking with no problem. The only inconvenience is the door in the elevator- they kept the old doors to keep the vintage vibe of the hotel, looks super cute, but if you are traveling with suitcases, kids and a dog.. you have to hold this door somehow while getting everyone out of the elevator. Also our AC didn’t work - was no option to turn it off completely, so we had to unplug it.

Super cute hotel. Definitely enjoyed the old fashioned aesthetics, but the rooms felt really enclosed.

This property was a fully restored, beautiful hotel. Their decor, 1920’s aesthetic & French couture was unlike any property I’ve stayed at. It was like a trip thru time, and I loved it. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I was able to safely walk around to get tacos at night nearby. They have a rooftop bar & across the street the Andaz Hotel rooftop stays open later/more hours & was free to access some of the most beautiful views of downtown San Diego. The hotel held my bags while I walked around Gaslamp Quarter all day. I visited the Hard Rock Hotel, went to the marina by Hilton (past trolley/other side of convention center.) Palihotel had yummy snacks/drinks in minibar: beware lol. No haunted vibes (lol, you never know). Their old-school elevators were a first time surprise. It’s amazing, I absolutely love this hotel. Cheap Lyft rides to Hillcrest or airport. Very walkable, close to mall and everything you could possibly need.
