About this property

Historic stone house with a pool between the Cévennes and the Ardèche

  • L'Ancienne Tuilerie is located between the Cèze River and the small town of Saint-Ambroix, nestled in the green hills of the Gard. It’s a standalone house with a rich history: Roof tiles used to be fired here; today, it serves as a temporary home for up to six people. The Mediterranean climate, the garden with a pool, and the varied surrounding landscape make it the perfect base for anyone who simply wants to unwind or actively explore the region.

L'Ancienne Tuilerie is no ordinary holiday home. This detached stone house, built in 1830, was once used as a brickworks—a place of craftsmanship where the region’s roofs were made. Today, it still visibly bears this history: in its thick natural stone walls, the old terracotta floors, and a unique atmosphere.

On the ground floor, our guests will find a fully equipped kitchen with an adjacent dining area and a fireplace. From here, there’s direct access to the terrace and the garden. The ground floor is complemented by a cosy living room, a bathroom, and a glass-enclosed veranda that charmingly opens the house to the outdoors.

The upper floor features two bedrooms and the master bathroom. Another glass-enclosed veranda with direct access to the outdoors via an exterior staircase also creates a beautiful connection between indoors and outdoors here.

The third bedroom, complete with its own bathroom, is located in the adjacent outbuilding. Located just a few steps from the main house, it’s ideal for anyone who appreciates a little more privacy within the group.

The house faces south and thus enjoys plenty of light and warmth all year round. The patio, furnished with lounge chairs, a dining table, and a grill, is perfect for cosy dinner evenings or a cup of coffee in the sun. The 8 × 4-meter pool is the perfect spot for relaxing days outdoors. The fully fenced property, measuring approximately 570 m², offers plenty of space.
