The stay was nice, cabin and rooms were clean, and the surrounding trails are great for walking the dog. It isn't as secluded as many of the pictures make it seem, there is a large adjacent farmhouse with multiple guests. Many windows of the cabin look directly out to this adjacent property and the shared drive.
Great location! Hosts are very nice people! The cabin is epic! We liked The Glass Chapel. And even if you are not planning to hike on the property, make sure you check out the Bell tower! You will not regret, it is so serene... Wonderful place! We will be back!
Fantastic combination of rustic and modern amenities! Perfect location with great trails and other sites to explore. We will definitely be back next year!!
This is the second time we've stayed in a cabin at the Preserve. This is a special place and we certainly plan on coming back often. We love the hiking trails on the property which are very easy as our 5 year old son was able to keep up. The cabins are very clean on stocked with everything you need for a long weekend stay.
We travel with 2 large dogs and are currently builidng our home in the area. This location is just perfect and the grounds are just enchanting at night. The fact that our boys are welcome is the cherry on top!!!
We stayed in the cabin for 3 days. The cabin was extremely neat and cozy. It had many helpful features: lighting under a step, very comfortable beds, and room darkening curtains. The property has a very interesting history and things to see. The host was extremely friendly and shared the property’s history with us. She invited us to a museum of artifacts in the farmhouse.
Amazing. We went hiking, enjoyed down time , and had a wonderful tour of the museum (house) from Steve . He was a fountain of knowledge We drove into lake lure to eat at 2 amazing restaurants - the Lake House and Grey Gardens Can’t wait to come back Bed was super comfy The cabin had everything we needed Thank you
The historic cabin is beautiful, well maintained, and located in a peaceful setting. Scenic trails are right outside the door. The hosts are friendly and very accommodating. We would not hesitate to return.
What a unique and enjoyable property. A quaint little town nearby with some interesting restaurants. The cabin has everything you could want. It is on a great piece of land with hiking trails and creek. Great property owners. Looks like a cool place to hold a wedding also.

Barn Cabin
We enjoyed our visit at the Barn Cabin. We especially enjoyed the town of Rutherfordton. We spent a day in the mountains, enjoying the beauty and color of the trees. Thank you for your hospitality.
It was very nice. The cabin was beautiful and even seemed larger than the pictures online. The grounds were beautifully kept and very peaceful and quiet. We loved hiking the extensive private trails. The hosts live on the property and are very nice and helpful but not overbearing. The only thing that was not expected was the cabin is close to the hosts house, which didn't bother us, but we did not expect based off of the online pictures.
We loved our stay. The log cabin is just beautiful and well equipped. The trails were a special treat. Laura and Steve checked in to be sure we had everything we needed and provided a nice historical overview of the property. We definitely will be back.
If you’re looking for a beautiful, relaxful, and renewing atmosphere, The Preserve at Maple Creek is the place to go. Over the past several years it has become “our home away from home”. All of the cabins, as well as the farmhouse have wonderful accommodations. Coffee on the porch with the birds chirping is delightful and starts your day off perfectly. Wine by the firepits watching the stars makes for a fabulous way to end your evening.Laura and Steve are the greatest! They make your stay with them extra special because they truly care about their guests experience.
Very nice, cozy place. The trails are amazing. The owners are very nice and always asked us if we needed anything and or if everyine was ok. Ill be staying here again in the future. Thank you for opening up tour beautiful home and property.
We celebrated our 20th anniversary during this stay. We really liked the privacy. The nature trails were a big hit for our four legged child. The weather was good. We went into town a land got groceries so we mostly just stayed in the cabin. The town was not far and was a nice little downtown area. We will for sure plan to come back again with our son and explore more. We are a carpenter family run business so we love the old house and found it nice.
