This location makes for a great getaway at the Outerbanks to spend an entire day (and night). The location is popular for fishing and is ideal for landscape and astro photography. You can have lots of fun on some of the dunes, although getting the sand out afterwards is a big hassle. This is one of my favorite images from this location. I love the warm light tones and the shadows that create a contrast in the foreground sand. It is created from a single exposure with only minor modifications made to adjust overall contrast and brightness. If you are interested in wildlife, the Pea Island Wildlife Refuge is nearby and is a very popular location. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen large enough for several of us to work in. The open floor plan in the living space lent to visiting while the little kids played. Whoever stayed prior to us was not very good tenets. They left glass shards in the pool that two of our party got cuts on. Nothing serious though. Left us with hardly any room in the garbage cans till it was collected Tuesday morning. Left vaping crap under the beds on the lower level where all our kids had rooms. Must have not been a family vacation as ours was. The welcome pack was not left for us that was mentioned on the refrigerator instructions either.
