Welcome to the Mast Mill guest house. The house sleeps 4 guests comfortably. Maximum of 5 guest limit.
It’s located on the scenic Maury River in Rockbridge Baths. With private river access.
There is high speed fiber optic internet access.
We have a no pet policy, please do not ask for an exemption. Pets are not permitted on the property or in the house for any reason. Thank you for understanding.
This guest house offers a fully equipped kitchen, sunroom, and large living room with a electric stove fireplace.
Beds: One Queen, two Doubles, one pull out Double.
Enjoy private access to the Maury River: perfect for lounging, fishing, or swimming. The river is about knee to waist deep most of the year, so it’s perfect for kids.
Relax on the deck and watch the sunset over the mountains. Then sit around the fire pit and roast marshmallows and make s’mores.
Conveniently located 2 miles from Goshen Pass, and
a 20 minute drive to Lexington, Virginia Military Institute, and Washington & Lee university.
Lexington offers an unique shopping experience in the cute downtown.
There are several museums for those interested in history as well as several historical locations in the area.
The Birth place of Sam Houston, of Texas fame is at Timber Ridge.
General Robert E. Lee and his horse Traveler along with General Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson and his horse Little Sorrel are buried in town.
The only house Gen. Stonewall Jackson owned is now a museum in downtown Lexington. He also has an exhibit in the VIrginia Military Institute museum.
In the VMI museum is an air rifle believed to have been carried by Lewis and Clark on the long walk.
Meriwether Lewis was from Charlottesville Va. and William Clark was from the Natural Bridge area of Rockbridge County. Lexington was a staging area on their way west.
Gen. Robert E. Lee’s tomb and museum are in the basement of Lee Chapel on the campus of Washington and Lee University.
The famous picture of Lee on Traveler was taken in front of the Mast Mill guest house.
He routinely had dinner in the original Mill house with the widow of a fallen fellow officer.
There are hot spring “Baths” located here in Rockbridge Baths. The hot spring is now privately owned.
There are hot springs you can swim in, located in Warm Springs Va. They have been open to the public since the 1700’s.

The guest house sets on what was the Mast Mill. It was built around 1805 and operated until the 1960’s.
If you love the outdoors, this is the place for you.
There are numerous options for hiking in the area, from the easy Chessie Trail that runs along the Maury river in Lexington to the extremely difficult trails in the Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains.
Ask the hosts for recommendations that fit your interest.
You can take trips to the Natural Bridge of Virginia, the Natural Bridge caverns, the Natural Bridge State Park, and the Virginia Safari Park. And numerous other interesting locations. All are great for a day trip.
If you are interested in wine tasting or hitting a brewery there are a number of excellent options in the area.
If you like plays, Black friars Playhouse is a working replica of William Shakespeare’s theater located in Staunton,Va.
(30 minute drive)They perform Shakespeare plays every week of the year.

During the winter season, we are about an hours drive from three excellent ski resorts. Wintergreen, The Homestead, and Massanutten, they offer very nice ski slopes.
