the only drawbacks we experienced were for the most part caused by the eclipse happening. the breakfast buffet on monday took forever to seat me and by the time i was allowed in they had been running out of food. Half an hour to access half a buffet? AND we're expected to pay extra for it. Wow. Given the circumstances it should have been complimentary. Also there was some kind of event that occupied the whole front parking lot--again, related to the solar eclipse happening, as they were setting it up for event space. We ended up parking down the side of the building where, thankfully, there was at least a door our keycards would open to the elevator... but also the elevator itself was kind of dicey. there was another one at the other end of the building far away from everything, so that wasn't terribly likely for us to use, and i couldn't find a parking area that would take me close to it, so it was AS THOUGH the building only had one elevator. Would have been better if there were at least two elevators connecting to the lobby. It got pretty backed up. Look, I'm not *that* up in arms about any of this though. I'm not fixing to "die on this hill" proverbially speaking. It was good. I'd probably book them again sometime, even, if the situation arose. It was mostly the fact that their staff seemed to have some adjustment pains to this unique scenario. All I'm saying is that things COULD have been handled better with more training and coordination, that's all. Overall good.

The staff was very helpful and very pleasant. The property was very nice on the outside. Inside the room furniture was quite worn as well as the door casings. The room needed attention. We were disturbed while getting ready in the morning by housekeeping at 8:35 am to make sure we were checking out by 11, weird. The trash service woke us up quite loudly a little before 7 am. The biggest complaint that I have is that the pool looked cloudy with stuff in it so we couldn't go swimming.

The manhattan suite is extremely big, which is great. However, the bed itself isn’t that comfortable. And I they really should update the decor. But overall it was a great over stay.

Dinner Friday was just ok. We had burgers. Fries and service were great. Sunday breakfast was horrible. We had the buffet, we ate around 10:00. All of the hot items were cold, the croissants were stale. The waitress was very inattentive.

Hotel was will maintained with a very friendly staff. The indoor pool was perfect and made our stay very fun! The downstairs restaurant has enjoyable options for breakfast and dinner with a friendly wait staff.

The only issue I had was not being able to access conf rm or the bar area for my family to get together to watch football games prior to the wedding we were in town for. Now I did like that I was given and opportunity in another room however no cable or wifi available on the TV. Overall great stay.

There is such a wonderful staff here. Meea welcomed me after midnight, and I saw Becca once again which was a delight. I wish I remembered the other delightful staff that was helpful for small gestures, but made me feel much more welcome than at other area properties. I have found where I will stay each time I come back to Rochester.

Excellent service, very clean, beautiful hotel, comfy bed…we just didn’t like that our room was on the “terrace” level which was essential a basement toe room but not underground. It’s kind of weird to explain. ,

We will NEVER stay in a Hilton hotel again
We will never stay at this hotel chain again. My son has severe allergies to animals which trigger asthma. We were told the morning after checking in that not only is the hotel “pet friendly”, pets stay in ALL the rooms. At what point do we remember that not all people are ok with other people’s animals?? Why aren’t there designated rooms for guests with pets??

Nothing I liked about this property. I know Hilton Garden Inn is not a 5-star but I hated even giving it one star. Dirty, worn, old-stale smell in rooms, loud and dusty heat/ac units, elevator makes the rooms near itr vibrate & not updated since travelers on the Erie canal stayed there in the 1800's with their mules. Even if the room was free I wouldn't stay there.

Cobwebs, spiders, housekeeping oh my. The property is not a bad property. It was the way we were treated. We found cobwebs in our room in the lights, the corners & the ceiling. I told them that where there are cobwebs there are spiders & sure enough my husband found a spider in the bathroom! We requested either to clean the room & move us or at least buy us dinner. The next morning we left came back the late afternoon, the bed was made but all the spiderwebs were still there! I called the front desk and they tell me that I opted out of the housekeeping. I did not! I was told that there would be no housekeeping until the fourth day of our five day stay and I HAD ALREADY ASKED THEM TO CLEAN BECAUSE OF THE COBWEBS!!!! We did get the free dinners but when my husband told the girl at the front desk about the spider, she didn't blink, she didn't care. We will not be staying at this hotel again.
