Can Micos is an 18th-century Catalan farmhouse in Riudarenes, in the heart of La Selva, 20 km from Girona and 20 km from the Costa Brava. Exclusive rental for groups of 16 to 25 — no other guests on the property, ever.
Built at the start of the 18th century for the priest of the Sant Julià de Llorca chapel, the farmhouse was bought in 1872 by the Bagués family and has been passed down through three generations. In 2000 it was fully restored to combine the character of a historic Catalan masia with every modern comfort. The stone walls, the vaulted ceilings and the 4,000 m² garden remain exactly as they were. The air conditioning, the fully equipped kitchen and the private pool do not.
Perfect for large families and groups of friends: kids have 4,000 m² of garden to run around in, a fenced private pool and table tennis, table football, pétanque and badminton. Adults get the 115 m² covered BBQ terrace — shade, long table for 25, and no British weather to worry about.
THE BEDROOMS
Can Micos sleeps 16 to 25 people across 9 bedrooms. 8 bedrooms have their own en-suite bathroom. 1 bedroom has a bathroom directly across the hall — never shared with other rooms. All bedrooms have ceiling fans and air conditioning throughout.
Every bedroom has a double bed as standard. For groups with children, 5 bedrooms can be configured with an additional bunk bed on request — sleeping 3 to 4 per room. Just let us know when booking and we will set it up before you arrive.
4 bedrooms are on the ground floor with step-free access, suitable for guests with reduced mobility.
We adapt the bedroom configuration to each group. Tell us who is coming — families, couples, friends — and we will arrange the rooms accordingly before arrival.
THE COMMON AREAS
Two separate lounges give large groups space to split up without getting in each other's way. The main lounge has a large fireplace, 42" TV, comfortable sofas for 10+ people and bookshelves. The second lounge is smaller and quieter — a 42" TV, two armchairs and a central table, ideal for those who want to watch something different or simply escape the noise.
The panoramic dining room seats 25 comfortably at one table, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the garden and the Montseny mountains. Crockery, glassware and cutlery for 25 provided. This is where the group comes together — long lunches, birthday dinners, late nights with wine.
THE KITCHEN
The kitchen is built for groups who actually cook. Not a token holiday kitchen with two hobs and a camping fridge — a proper working kitchen equipped for 25 people:

— Oven and 5-burner gas hob
— Microwave
— Deep fryer
— Full batterie de cuisine — pots, pans, roasting trays, knives, chopping boards
— Separate vegetable sink and washing-up sink
— Crockery and cutlery for 25 persons
— Fully stocked with oil, salt, sugar and basic condiments on arrival
If you'd rather not cook, our optional catering service is run by a professional chef who designs the menu around the group — dietary requirements, preferences and budget all taken into account.
THE BBQ TERRACE
The 115 m² covered BBQ terrace is the heart of Can Micos. Most groups spend the majority of their time here — it is where holidays actually happen.
It is a proper outdoor room: fully covered so it works in sun, cloud or light rain, with a long table seating 25, a built-in barbecue grill, and enough space to move around comfortably even with 25 people. String lights, the smell of the garden, a glass of something cold — this is what Can Micos is about.
The terrace connects directly to the garden and the pool, so children can move freely between all three spaces while adults stay at the table.
OUTSIDE
Private pool of 80 m², fully fenced — safe for young children. 8 sun loungers. Garden of 4,000 m² with multiple seating areas, fruit trees and seasonal flowers. Covered parking for 6 vehicles. Table tennis, table football, pétanque and badminton — all equipment provided.
LOCATION
Riudarenes sits between Girona and the Costa Brava, with easy access to some of the best of Catalonia:
— Girona city (20 km): medieval old town, cathedral, Jewish quarter, excellent restaurants. A full day out on its own.
— Costa Brava beaches (20 km): Tossa de Mar, Lloret de Mar, Sant Feliu de Guíxols — some of the most dramatic coastline in the Mediterranean.
— Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres (50 km): unmissable, book in advance.
— Barcelona (80 km): day trip by car or direct train from Sils station, 5 minutes from the house.
— Girona airport (25 min): direct flights from the UK and Ireland with Ryanair.
For walkers and cyclists, the Les Gavarres natural park starts at the door — marked trails through cork oak forest with no traffic.

Can Micos is open all year. Spring and autumn are particularly special — mild temperatures, no crowds, the garden at its best.
