Here you can shop for top brands at between 30% and 70% below RRP. Taking a holiday in Ringsted can be good for your clothes budget as well as your health!
There are also plenty of attractions suitable for children, including Ringsted Svømmeland, with its water slides, counterflow channel and springboards. Then there’s Ringsted Sporvognsmuseum, home to a collection of old trams with some in use on the museum grounds, including a horse-drawn omnibus and an Australian tram.
Ringsted occupies a key place in Denmark’s history. In the Middle Ages, it was the royal seat and most important commercial centre on Zealand. There are therefore a number of kings and queens buried in the beautiful Sankt Bendts Kirke, not to mention a statue of Valdemar the Great in the town square. The town is now a major commuter base, thanks to Copenhagen being just 37 miles away.
If you love the countryside, Ringsted is the place to be, with its 15-mile cycle/footpath Ringsted Oplevelsessti running around the Haraldsted lake, and the chance to explore the area by bike or canoe. You can also visit what is probably Denmark’s most beautiful and professional golf course at Skjoldenæsholm Golfcenter. Round off the day with French and Danish cuisine at gourmet restaurant Kokken og Tyren.
Art and culture are strongly represented by the town’s own collection of sculpture and art, alongside Ringsted Radiomuseum, Ringsted Museum og Arkiv and Ringsted Vindmølle. The country’s oldest patisserie can be found here, dating back to 1796, in the shape of Hansens Konditori og Café.
A holiday in Ringsted is simply jam-packed with things to do, see and experience. It’s the perfect destination regardless of whether you are here with the family or friends.
