Our extended family of all ages plus one small dog greatly enjoyed our stay in this home! Plenty of space for everyone to sleep, extra bathrooms, and a functional kitchen. The fenced-in back yard is perfect for pets and children. Street parking was easy and a nice playground at the end of the block and a small store a few blocks over were nice to have nearby. We would stay here again!
Nice and spacious spot to gather with extended family for wedding weekend. Hot tub was great. Extra chairs added seating for us to sit around and catch up.
Wonderful property close to great places to eat and explore. Hot tub was nice but needed some chemical care...little green but still usable. Overall great rental property with tons of space!
It was perfect for the board members to stay together, away from the conference center, room to relax and solve the little problems that arise, away from the exhibition hall. Enough seating space for everyone involved for dinners and relaxation. Great for large group discussions and small group conversations.
This property is a spacious old house that has gone thru some good renovations. Good kitchen, family rooms and beds - close to lots that Richmond has to offer. Enjoyed walking the old neighborhood streets to Battery Park and looking at the older houses, and driving to hikes on the James River. If you are a picky person looking for a new and perfect house with ensuite bathrooms, this is not the house for you - but if you want a reasonable priced large house that is super comfy and close to lots in Richmond, this is for you!
Had a great stay at the property. Robert, the host/owner, is amazing to work with. Super responsive, very attentive, and incredibly kind. Upon arrival there were a few things on the exterior that caused a little concern (porch in somewhat rough shape, neighbors house very close and not in great shape, backyard in somewhat of disarray -- both BBQ grill and firepit were filled with water, back fence gate propped up by cinder block) but don't let it take away from what is inside. Very nice property, and very well kept. Like most places in Richmond, the homes are old, but this one was very nice. Had a nice time there. Thanks, Robert!
The location, layout, and functionality of the home were, as described, great. The first floor was well appointed with games, seating areas, and a kitchen stocked with all necessary supplies. Is a rental unit, this house needs a bit of tlc to address nicks and scratches in several walls, beds that squeak, and some sofas that need mending.
We had a very good time while staying at the house. It was our base of operations as we went to Washington DC, Williamsburg, the Aquarium and other places in the Richmond area itself. Perly’s Delicatessen was a favorite place for lunch.
The house is roomy with plenty of beda - and ALL the beds are so comfy! You can see the care and love that has gone into modernizing the house, while keeping the history with natural woodwork and floors, and high ceilings.
We felt very welcomed by the vibes of the house, and even the mosquitoes were hospitable - several of them had us for dinner!
An entirely lovely stay. We would most definitely return.

Misleading to call this newly renovated
Our group of friends planned a long weekend to catch up, explore Richmond and spend lots of time at the house cooking meals and hanging out on the backyard. It’s extremely misleading to call this house newly renovated, the outer siding looks new and maybe the interior is painted and has some new-ish furniture, but the house is very old and creaky with scuffs and major settling cracks in the walls, loose laminate floorboards in the downstairs. The house itself does not seem newly renovated or was renovated without care. House wasn’t all that clean either. There were lots of spider webs in the house too. Additionally, some smoke detectors did not have batteries (upstairs bedrooms).
Our major issue stemmed from the AC- there is a sign in the house not to knock it below 60-65 degrees- interesting. We were here on the hottest day of the year on Saturday, but even on Thursday and Friday the AC wasn’t getting below 80-81 degrees so it’s quite clear that the AC system has issues. On Saturday it was reaching 83-84 in the house. The owner was responsive about our inquiries about how to make it work better. He told us to take the it filter out on Friday night, which we did and it was very dirty- it looked like it hadn’t been changed in a long time. On Saturday, when the temp of the house didn’t go down, he sent someone with a portable unit for the living room which helped.
Also, it can be loud with the train nearby.
I would not recommend staying here, especially in the summer.

The house is fine older which you find that a lot in Richmond area. Plenty of towels provided and bedrooms. Nothing close to walk to area didn’t seem that great. A few fixtures need tightening.
This stay in Richmond was the poorest experience with a rental I have ever had. The house was not cleaned when we arrived and overall minimally maintained. The beds were stripped and dirty laundry piled in the kitchen. There was no toilet paper in the house so we had to buy our own along with other cleaning supplies. The hottub was dirty with a very used filter. The next door neighbor had a shipping container in the back driveway so we couldn't park there. We are quite sure we heard a drive by shooting in the next neighborhood over. Also, the kitchen cabinet was halfway falling off so we drilled it back to stop it from hitting us in the face every time. We were able to get back about 350 refund ultimately, after having to fight for it. I can't recommend this place and will also not be using VRBO again - the first experience was bad enough.

Perfect for what we needed!
It’s a spacious house that accommodated the 9 of us. It was exactly what we needed so everyone was able to have room to roam without bumping into one another. Like many others said, it’s a nice house, older, that needs some repairs and the neighborhoods to get there are a bit rundown, but it was totally fine and we did not have any issues. If you are just looking for a place to fit a lot of people in one place and you do not care if the floors creek, and the walls are not freshly painted, then you should go ahead and rent this house! It wasn’t a perfect house, but it was the perfect place for what we needed. I would give it a solid 4.5 stars.

I highly recommend Evolve and this house in Richmond, VA. Evolve team was professional & responsive.
I reserved this house a year in advance for a college graduation weekend for 7 family members. If something had "fallen through" with my reservation, I would have been in a tight spot. However, Evolve kept in touch and everything went great! I really appreciate their professionalism and responsiveness.
The property was as advertised and my interactions with the property owner were problem free. The property is conveniently located to a number of good restaurants and tourists sites in Richmond. There was pleanty of room for the five of us plus our family dog. The fenced in backyard was a major pluse considering that we did have a dog with us. The five bedrooms and three full bathrooms provided adequate space and the little downstairs room was a perfect hangout room for out teenage grandson. All-in-all it was a great week and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
