The room smelled bad. They had tried to mask it with some spray but the stink was bad. Terrible odor. And the noise from the parking out front was relentless... car doors banging shut, the beep beep of car locks. Very noisy. The room itself was large and in good share. But the stink was really awful. Kind of nasty. Not a good stay.

Beds had chest/beard hair on the sheets and pillows, toilet had (you can imagine) hair in it as well. The bed frame (metal) was visibly dirty and had a sticky substance on it as well. The smell was almost unbearable. The AC unit had a large amount of black/brown dust built up in the filter

We arrived very late and it took 20 minutes of the desk clerk on the computer to check us in (there was no one in front of us). First we were charged more than it was reserved for (he did fix it). Then we couldn't get in the room, went back he rekeyed the cards and still couldn't get in, this time waking the elderly man already in the room. Went back again and was assigned to a different room, luckily empty but was not the king bed we had reserved but two full size beds. Said something at checkout in the morning and all we got was a "I'm sorry."

I was booked for a three-night stay. I went someplace center located through my friends of Richmond, that I wanted to visit while I was here. So much a bite ubered or even drove to visit me. The first morning I was highly embarrassed when a manager or owner knocked on my door profusely wanting to speak to me telling me they doing allow guests or visitors. From that moment on they've watched their cameras and walk past my room every hour to see that I never had any more guests. I don't know what their problem was. There was signs everywhere. Don't do this. Don't do that. Don't take this there. I even went to breakfast if that's what you want to call it and I was running behind and I was going to take a bagel with me but I was told not to leave the room with food. The rooms or adequately cleaned, but whoever heard of putting a mattress on top of a tin can. So every time you've moved you were woken by metal. I guess for sound sleepers that doesn't bother them when they move but I couldn't get to sleep at all. In summary, me, my friends and my thousands of clients will not be visiting Econo Lodge anytime soon

You get what you pay for. I think for the price and what it is it’s not bad. The surfaces in the room looked dirty. I wiped them all down before we got settled. Check in/ check out was easy. It’s on a busy street so there were lots of food options within walking distance. Would stay again.

Everything looks new, I need to update the pictures of the room, because I was very impressed, everything was clean, did not smell, everything worked well, except for the toilet was a little slow flushing, may need to check on that, but I just tell the button down until it finally flushed but besides that I’m definitely staying again

Safe and Affordable
The room was good, comfy bed, nice bathroom, check in was easy. Pool is an outside pool and great temperature. Wish housekeeping had been more willing to clean our room each day when we happened to be in the room when she first came by. The breakfast leaves much to be desired. It's basically cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, oranges, apples, and you might get there early enough to get a packaged pastry. The rooms don't have any kind of dressers so you can only hang up your clothes. Area was safe and room was affordable. Kings Dominion is only 30 minutes away and there are quite a few museums within 15 min from hotel. Plenty of good restaurants nearby.

So the room was a non smoking room - but reeked of cigarette smoke. Also the breakfast was severely lacking - 2 cereals, a couple bagels, and waffle maker. There were no yogurt or fruit options, etc. which would have helped being gluten free. The room was super clean, and the bed was comfortable.

It's no Ritz, but for my $, overall prefect, from staff to clean rooms and property, and the breakfast of course. I would definitely come back.
