Clean, good selection of cooking utensils. Terrific location to off-road motorcycle trails at Porterfield. Very nice yard with lots of room. Nice grill for cooking. Nice view of river and private.
It’s a very nice and clean cottage on a river. I stayed there because it was a central location to explore different places in the central Upper Peninsula. The location is a bit remote, being about 20 miles from a grocery store and restaurants, but I didn’t find that to be a major problem. All in all I had a pleasant experience and recommend this cottage to others.
This is a great getaway for anyone who wants to enjoy the quiet outdoors. The owners checked in to make sure we made it, left kayaks out for our use and followed up on the day we left. Very friendly and clean!
This cabin was the perfect place to stay to rest and relax. It was very clean and cozy with everything we needed to be comfortable. The location allowed us to travel in different directions each day to see different areas of the state.
Our stay was amazing. It was exactly what my family needed. The property is everything you could ever ask for and the cabin was super clean and cozy. It had everything you could think of to cook and plenty of things to entertain the kids. The river is really relaxing, we recommend making this your next destination.
A great little cabin to explore the UP from. Very relaxing and out of the way. Plenty of privacy yet all the comforts of home. No real cell signal, so be prepared to enjoy some of life without the internet. Would stay again!
This place is a wonderful little cabin, very clean and well stocked with necessities. The view from the deck is overlooking the river, and the property is very spacious for walking and wandering. The only downside is the traffic noise from the nearby bridge. We would still consider booking this cute cabin next time we travel to the UP!
The property and cabin were beyond what we expected. Very cozy, clean, quiet and comfortable. Ken and Sara were very gracious hosts that kept in contact with us plus gave us some ideas on where to sightsee. This was our first experience renting a cabin and it won’t be our last. Thanks Ken and Sara for letting us stay at your beautiful cabin
It was very private, cozy and welcoming! The bed was really comfy and the shower was nice and hot. The cottage has everything you need for a relaxing getaway. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We even saw a deer in the back yard one evening. And, Ken was a great host!
Perfect setting for a perfect 5 days. The cabin was just as described. We saw 2 moose, a bear and several deer. The fishing charter that Ken recommended was great and we caught 7 large lake trout. Could not have been any better.Couldn'nCouldnhave been a mo
Very secluded. Very relaxing! Ken gave us all kinds of suggestions on things to do in the area.
The cabin was very clean. It was supplied with everything you would need. Highly recommend this place.
Perfect place for relaxing, enjoy the outdoors, and getting away from the crazy world. We enjoyed the fire and roasted marshmallows, the big open area to blow bubbles, and to catch the hula hoops. Place is very clean and plenty of room for everyone. We took a walk along the river and enjoyed the scenery. Very nice and feels so secluded even though the highway is so close. Ken and Sara have a beautiful place and we appreciated them sharing their little piece heaven with us!
Great place to relax and enjoy mother nature. It is so peaceful and private. The cabin is clean and well equipped with everything you need. Star gazing at its finest! We loved sitting on the bank of the river and fishing. No one else around. By far a perfect vacation. Ken is an absolute terrific host! Thank you for letting us enjoy your little piece of paradise, Ken.

The hosts (Ken and Sara) have thought of everything that a guest could want. We only had to bring our own food, but they had the fridge stocked with sodas when we arrived. They supplied microwave, toaster, cooktop with oven, plates, cups, utensils, kayaks, fishing rods, life vests, shampoo, body wash--I could list a hundred more things.
The hosts texted us to be sure that we were able to access the cottage easily and get settled in. They also checked with us during our six-day stay to ask whether there was anything else we wanted or needed. No other Vrbo host ever did that--above and beyond the call of duty.
The cottage was very comfortable and quiet. My wife and I loved it!
It's an easy drive away from Marquette, Munising, Ishpeming, Baraga, L'Anse, Houghton/Hancock, Grand Marais, Seney, and even a comfortable day trip to Copper Harbor, Escanaba, Vulcan, and more.
My wife and I will definitely be looking at this particular cottage for a future trip to the UP.
Thank you, Ken and Sara, for making our vacation wonderful!
We followed up last year's 8-night stay with a 10-night stay this year. Along with fishing the Michigamme River and the local lakes as much as possible, we made trips to see Mount Arvon (Michigan's highest point), the Huron Mountains "Rock Cut", and Canyon Falls; consisting of spectacular drives, hikes, and views. Also made excursions to successfully hunt for Yooperlites. We heard wolves almost nightly around the cabin, but struck out on our quest to see wolves, moose, and/or bear. Just another reason to return next year! Silver Lake Resort kept us well-fed as needed, and we did enjoy a fresh caught perch dinner at the cabin courtesy of one of the local lakes. Also had an opportunity to see the northern lights one evening from the cabin's yard; simply spectacular! Additional wild-life viewing/hearing around the area included Ravens, Common Loons, Bald Eagles, Barred Owls, Ruffed Grouse, Eastern Bluebirds, Whip-poor-wills, migrating warblers, flying squirrels, deer, beaver, hatching snapping turtles, etc.). This cabin remains a great location to use as a base camp for exploring anything in the western UP. Ken and Sara are wonderful hosts and very informative to make your stay a worthwhile one.
We experienced an awesome 8 night stay at this cabin, which is quite cozy and had everything we needed. The location is superb, on the Michigamme River, and with many small, beautiful lakes within a very short drive. We fished as much as possible during the week, and host Ken was most gracious with recommendations and maps to various nearby lakes and rivers for us to try. We were able to catch pike, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, walleye, and bluegill. We brought our own kayaks, but as noted, there are kayaks available at the cabin for use on the river – we would highly recommend a float, with the current being calm enough to paddle up or down river with ease. The wildlife in and around the property is amazing, including those we saw (Ravens, Common Loons and many other birds, bobcat, deer, beaver, etc.) and heard (wolves, fox, Barred Owls, Ruffed Grouse, Whip-poor-will, Common Loons, etc.). Although we had hoped to see wolves, bear, and/or moose, it didn’t happen this trip, but we know that they are in the area. This cabin is in a great location to use as a base camp for exploring anything in the western UP. Internet access was a challenge at times, but with a little patience and/or a short walk outside, we could connect as needed. We cannot wait to come back again. Thank you to Ken and Sara for being the best hosts we have experienced to date. If you like wild things and being away from it all, rent this cabin and you will not be disappointed!
Fantastic place, excellent host communication. They were very helpful and friendly, offering assistance with advice about the area. Well stocked, very comfortable. Fabulous getaway!
Wonderful nature getaway where you can unplug and be in a private setting. I love how big the yard is and that there is a gate. This is my second time here and I’ll definitely be back!
Our third visit to this cabin, which is very clean, quaint, and meets all of our needs. Centrally located to the many outdoor activates we pursue. Host is very communicative with suggestions to make your stay even more enjoyable. We will return.
This was the perfect way for us to get away from the business of our lives with 6 children after caretaking for sick parents for the last 5 years. We napped in the quiet of the forest and did some sight seeing as we wanted. The cabin is well stocked you’ll only need to take some food and your personal items.
